  • Edmonton 189 was received at The Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft on 29th October 2009 - see previous videos.
The following couple of weeks saw all the spares unloaded from the trolleybus and various jobs undertaken on it to get it running again, in particular the replacement of the trolley gear on the roof.
The first serious test was accomplished on 17th November, when this video was shot.
Unfortunately, the HQ version of this video failed to upload. I may try again later. Also, we ran out of DV tape as 189 was turning in Sandtoft Square, so it finishes rather abruptly!
NEWS! 189 was put into service at the Trolleybus Museum for the first time on 17th April 2010!

I rode that bus in service in Edmonton. It was the last Trolleybus I rode there.

@sharx35 One problem that we had intermittently at Edmonton Transit is that as the in-service number of trolleys was cut back, operator experience levels declined. There always were some operators who intentionally signed on runs likely to have trolleys, but there were others who would pull out with the attitude that they were going to have trouble-- and they would.

@Esturk87 Let me tell you something bro...Im 35 yrs old and realized last year that there are two types of people in this modern world, those like only or mostly old school, and then those that only dig or even buy new crap. Im willing to be that if the world comes close to the brink of destruction, people will start to preserve or rebuild like the Cubans for example. Speaking of which, think they still have some ex STCUM new looks and maybe an RTL unit or two...
