My last name is Curiel from my paternal side and it is 100 % Sephardic Jewish name and It is NOT a comen name at all in Mexico. Also I’m Amezquita from my mother side and it was in an ancient document of one person being Sephardic. I ask my mother and she told me her great great grandparents did come from Spain but that’s all she remembers. Also same with my fathers side. And they settled in Mexico only God knows why.

Hi Gabriel, you would have to come in for a consultation with a lawyer because I am not sure about that. Aditionally, the deadline to apply for the nationality (for Sephardic Jews) has already passed, so I am not sure if you could apply.
what documents are required to prove special bond with Spain? surnames or a Rabbinical letter is required?
Hi, you will need a Rabbinical letter (from Spain or abroad) and you need to show proof of having had previous interest in Spain: investements, previous residencies, Spanish studies, courses. etc.
@@raquelp.sternaabogados8073 i see. I am American. Well, i only have a Rabbinical letter that iam a Sephardic Jew. i don't family in Spain anymore because of the expulsion in 1492. My family migrated to different lands. I also have surnames from family that are Sephardic. That's it. Does that mean i don't qualify? Thank you for responding!

If you chose to claim the Spanish nationality by means of naturalization, even though you do not need to be a resident in Spain to do so, you still need to demonstrate having a special connection or ¨bond¨ to the Spain.
To do so, you will need to provide two mandatory documents to your application:
The passing of the Constitutional and Sociocultural test of the Cervantes Institute (CCSE). It consists of several questions relating to two big themes:
The Spanish form of government, legislation and citizen participation
History, culture and Spanish society
The passing of the DELE exam of the Cervantes Institute, to prove a sufficient knowledge of the Spanish language. The minimum grade is A2.

You should ask at the embassy, but if you have already the German citizenship you can live and work in Spain without problems.
