In this clip, Charleston White details how the movie "Colors" affected him and led to him leaving his loving and stable home to be in the streets, because he thought he wasn't "real" if he wasn't struggling in life. Charleston went on to detail how he took on the "gangster" image as a way of rebelling, and he added that his mother was overloaded with too many family issues to see that he was going on the wrong path. From there, Charleston detailed who he masterminded a crime spree at 14 after running away from home, which involved him and 3 other friends stealing Starter jackets from the mall. While running out of the mall, Charleston says that a man in the parking lot tried to stop him and his friends from leaving the mall parking lot by jumping on the car and smashing their windshield. One of Charleston's friends shot the man, who later died, leading to the four friends to be wrapped up in a capital murder case. To hear more, including what happened to his three other friends, hit the above clip. - Zábava

I’m so proud of Charleston White.
I don't know this young but I like his honesty. Sometimes being an outsider, I always wondered why when people came from good homes or upper middle class families, why do some people turn to crime or to the streets. He helped me understand.
Dude speaking alot of truth
The difference is a lot of us had good homes we just lived in the projects
How you got a house outside the projects going in them 🤦🏾♂️
Faxx most us live in the hood/working class. My mom dont got a job and my dad a electrician course we gonna get money in the streets 💯🤷🏾♂️
Sometimes middle class kids got bored with the tranquility of suburban life and wanted action. Like he was saying a lot of black kids get made fun of for being square

Thank you CW. People automatically assume you have "bad parents" because you end up in the streets. What he said is all facts 💯
Most important interview on Vlad in a WHILE!!!!!
Don cheadle seeing his homies in county is what did it for a lot of kids I bet
So TRUUUUUUUUUUU, my FAVORITE part in the whole movie
I was born in 77 in Macon Ga. Came to vegas in 85. In vegas there was already there own blood and crip set's dating back to the 70s late 60s I believe. But I'd go back to see my granny in Macon on they greyhound and would go through a lot of states across the map to get there. And before colors these states gangbangin was minimal if any in these states. Even the kids around my grannys neighborhood was not hip to westcoast gang culture at all. Now after the release of Colors these same states I'd previously went through had picked it up now. Including the neighborhood kids around her area.
I could listen to this guy for hours
i can relate to how hip hop makes you not want to appreciate being middle class....
This is powerful!
Man you can hate him or love him...this man is about to take over the internet!!
This so real and relatable
This gone be an *INSTANT CLASSIC*
Best believe he about to cut the fuck up around part 5 !!!
As a hip hop fan and growing up in that culture, I can honestly say they really do push that narrative of being from nothing or having nothing makes you “real” and it sucks cuz we really buy into that shit
It does. How can you be fake if you come from a lineage of people who take good care of their kids and responsibilities??? But you real if you come from a lineage of people who get taken care of by the government and ain’t got shit in their name. It’s actually funny.😂😂😂😂
I think you missing the point about Hip Hop Culture. Start from the beginning from the late 60’s, The Black Spades ♠️ were fighting that Caucasian Racist, understand the roots the history. It has nothing to do with having nothing coming from nothing. What change is when contractors started coming to the hood offering 100’s of thousands of dollars for something they do for free. So those who didn’t reject the offer and not standing for the culture, they started think about cars, houses and things and that’s what going on. You gotta go back to the old groups. Also journalists started coming to the hood asking them could they be film for something that’s just being outside to them... Also during the early 80’s you had two DJS radio show crew who were 5%ers(The World Famous Supreme Team) during the same year u had the Fresh 3 MCS who were 5%ers to and had like 8 songs of concious content but label rejected what they submitted. The corporate is different big difference from the Culture..
That movie destroyed my neighborhood in St. Louis, Mo in the 80's. A lot of my friends either got killed, put in jail, or put in a wheelchair. Glad my father kept a foot up my ass.
I can see why he said this is his best interview
Look up his other interviews... I promise they are way better. Check the CZcams channel Dallas Global or RealToonTv

Lupe fiasco double burger with cheese is the perfect depiction of this interview especially what Charleston says at the end.
Y’all forget all that internet antics he pulls is to get your attention. He said out the gate, he sawRudy Ray Moore and created a character....just like Rudy created Dolemite. Not saying this guy is without fault bc antics or not he says some wild stuff, but he has still been helping kids for a long time. Rappers have been leading kids the wrong way for too long...glorifying killing each other isn’t the move.
Well written

I really love the honesty
Kinda don't agree with the colors movie mantality. I fell up under the Gangsters in 83 I was 14 and a freshman in highschool when I was approached when dudes from chicago came down recruiting. I didn't know anything about a crip or blood. Just Gangsters and lords. With a little bit of latin kings in there so we knew who to look out for. Just making a point. I'm grown now, wake up. 🙏🏿
Gotta watch wat we say in these comment sections,, it’s a lotta agents taking our slang no profile pic trolling etc etc
We say and show everything on social media anyway, whatever should be kept we share to the world for the cost of attention.
This is going great so far
You gotta respect is honesty. Because most these wannabe Gangstas make up there life and say they have done this and that and grew up rough when it’s all a lie. Respect his honesty
Dam 5 minutes a day, thats all we get??
😆😅😂🤣
🤣🤣🤣
just like when we saw a kung fu movie we went to the back yard to do karate.we saw colors and wanted to be gangsta.
I had that 2 exact mindset. You said it! I grew up between choices of martial Arts or gangs, I did the martial Arts and lived that life and stayed alive to the point where I can fight and not need a gun cause I felt like a man then later I was about to join a gang Then I said nahh I rather be an affiliate than official member so I can save my own future and fate. I seen ppl die left and right and I said I don't want to die. What I hated about gangs was that they beat up ppl like 20ppl to 1 person and brag about how they bouty bouty it. I was like man that's a bitch groupie move and it don't impress me at all. I'm the type that will be a one man army against multiple ppl, and that's the martial Arts way of thinking and we'll rewarded as a man ! And i also be playing videogames to stay off the street not trying to let fate get me in trouble.
EXACTLY, NOW THAT'S FACTS
I can't lie from the first min & 36 mins on what he said Is how most kids grew up dese days as well but wanna go be wit the kids that live & poverty and don't have a choice on they options that's the crazy part
He speaking truth, I'm 44yrs old.
I actually said what he just said
When NWA was out I remember when that movie colors came out.
The backlash I got from saying what he's saying now 30yrs ago made me develop animosity towards my peers and my people.
Made me look down on them it took me awhile to understand that people develop Understanding in their own time.
