    --------
In this clip, Charleston White details how the movie "Colors" affected him and led to him leaving his loving and stable home to be in the streets, because he thought he wasn't "real" if he wasn't struggling in life. Charleston went on to detail how he took on the "gangster" image as a way of rebelling, and he added that his mother was overloaded with too many family issues to see that he was going on the wrong path. From there, Charleston detailed who he masterminded a crime spree at 14 after running away from home, which involved him and 3 other friends stealing Starter jackets from the mall. While running out of the mall, Charleston says that a man in the parking lot tried to stop him and his friends from leaving the mall parking lot by jumping on the car and smashing their windshield. One of Charleston's friends shot the man, who later died, leading to the four friends to be wrapped up in a capital murder case. To hear more, including what happened to his three other friends, hit the above clip.

I think you missing the point about Hip Hop Culture. Start from the beginning from the late 60’s, The Black Spades ♠️ were fighting that Caucasian Racist, understand the roots the history. It has nothing to do with having nothing coming from nothing. What change is when contractors started coming to the hood offering 100’s of thousands of dollars for something they do for free. So those who didn’t reject the offer and not standing for the culture, they started think about cars, houses and things and that’s what going on. You gotta go back to the old groups. Also journalists started coming to the hood asking them could they be film for something that’s just being outside to them... Also during the early 80’s you had two DJS radio show crew who were 5%ers(The World Famous Supreme Team) during the same year u had the Fresh 3 MCS who were 5%ers to and had like 8 songs of concious content but label rejected what they submitted. The corporate is different big difference from the Culture..

Not saying this guy is without fault bc antics or not he says some wild stuff, but he has still been helping kids for a long time. Rappers have been leading kids the wrong way for too long...glorifying killing each other isn’t the move.

Kinda don't agree with the colors movie mantality. I fell up under the Gangsters in 83 I was 14 and a freshman in highschool when I was approached when dudes from chicago came down recruiting. I didn't know anything about a crip or blood. Just Gangsters and lords. With a little bit of latin kings in there so we knew who to look out for. Just making a point. I'm grown now, wake up. 🙏🏿

I had that 2 exact mindset. You said it! I grew up between choices of martial Arts or gangs, I did the martial Arts and lived that life and stayed alive to the point where I can fight and not need a gun cause I felt like a man then later I was about to join a gang Then I said nahh I rather be an affiliate than official member so I can save my own future and fate. I seen ppl die left and right and I said I don't want to die. What I hated about gangs was that they beat up ppl like 20ppl to 1 person and brag about how they bouty bouty it. I was like man that's a bitch groupie move and it don't impress me at all. I'm the type that will be a one man army against multiple ppl, and that's the martial Arts way of thinking and we'll rewarded as a man ! And i also be playing videogames to stay off the street not trying to let fate get me in trouble.

He speaking truth, I'm 44yrs old.
I actually said what he just said
When NWA was out I remember when that movie colors came out.
The backlash I got from saying what he's saying now 30yrs ago made me develop animosity towards my peers and my people.
Made me look down on them it took me awhile to understand that people develop Understanding in their own time.
