- Las Vegas, a desert town based on gambling, vice, and other forms of entertainment, has lured millions of visitors and trillions of dollars in wealth to southern Nevada in just a century of existence. The community was built by ranchers and railroad workers, but it soon discovered that its most valuable asset was not its springs, but its casinos. The embracing of Old West-style freedoms in Las Vegas provided an ideal haven for East Coast organized crime. Visitors flocked to experience what the casinos had to offer: low-cost luxury and the excitement of having their desires come true. However, before Las Vegas became the site of mega-hotels, extensive gambling, and overindulgence, its parched grounds were populated by Native Americans from Southern Nevada. But how did a city so isolated from the rest of civilization grow into the city it is today?

Good websites to find information about las vegas are something like kiddle or ducksters, those are for school mostly but also newspapers about las vegas would be useful as all of the information put on there is true
