I love that we have so many of the same books. I have a skirt making book that I recommend to all my friends starting out because skirts are the easiest garments to make, in my opinion.
Definitely bought a couple of these books immediately after watching this. Cannot wait for them to arrive.
I am a fashion designer from canada and I am impress of your process learning sewing and pattern making. thumbs up and keep going. you are doing so well and your videos are amazing. I like to watch you evolve and explain. It is hard to explain the process and you do it so clearly. I wish I would have you as a teacher. your passion is inpsiring.
GIiiiRrrLll, Thankyou so gosh darn much for this, I've already saved many of the books you recommend to my saved for later And some in the cart!
Yes, you may have a slight fabric addiction but I love it! 🤣 I think I like buying fabric and watching/reading about sewing more than the actual sewing 😂 xx
What a joy you are to watch!
Already put that fabric book in my wish list! Thank you so much for this review. Super helpful 😊
Thank you for the flip through it was greatly appreciated 🙏
This is a great video! Thank you so much for the advice and by the way, your makes are incredible!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I had most of these book but I had no idea where to start.
Aysha dahlin i love your channel and i watch all your vids faithfully. i just got into sewing (i am 63 years old and i haven't sewn anything since high school and i always wanted to get back into it) my boyfriend brought me a sewing machine for christmas and i been sewing ever since and i love it! to me, Mistakes are just "happy accidents" to help you learn and discover a little bit more about your creative abilities and teach you patience in yourself and guide you in the right direction of true craftmanship. you learn your craft by doing and making mistakes. and i tell you, doing this has made me addicted to sewing and i love it!
Such a great vlog, I had my eye on that couture sewing book for a while, it's now coming tomorrow. Love your energy, you always keep me watching. Thrifted dress is perfect too 😍😍
Incredibly helpful! Thank you so much!
Great video! Some really good nuggets here! I have the draping book, I love it and use it often! Thank you for sharing!
Your post was really helpful in reviewing so many books. I’ve been sewing for 50 plus years and always learning!
Thank you so much for the insight on sewing etc. I appreciate it. I will shop around and order some of these.
This is such a great resource video! Thank you!
I basically have all of those same books you have. I've gotten lost in learning for a few years now without practice. I guess I've been reorienting my mind.
Thank you for a super helpful and enjoyable video. I love books as much as I love sewing, and I think this is a really good guide to everything we could need to become excellent sewists, well done!
Really interesting and comprehensive, thank you. I only use my overlocker for one thing too!!!
I love your videos! I have most of the books you shared but will be looking for some of the ones I don't have. I'm like you I use sewing and fitting books as my sewing school, they are invalueable!
brilliant video, I've been wanting some sewing books (and pattern cutting) but been overwhelmed so this has been so useful. Thanks a lot.
Genius! Thanks for this, I already noted down three of them.
I own a book on deconstructed patterns. It shows the finished garment as a fashion sketch and then the cutting pattern. It really helped me get my head around what a 2d pattern will look like in 3d.
Thanks! I put 3 of them on my Amazon wish list for Christmas.
Hunny, you are right about hand stitching! mine is terrible too. but i will be getting this book! Thank you sweetie!
New subscriber here. Thank you so much. I bought a lot of different books for my personal needs which are very different than yours, but I appreciate that we learn in a similar fashion based on our interests. I look forward to more of your videos.
Thanks for sharing. I’ve ordered the one with the swatches! One that I’ve found useful is the Fasionpedia.
I have this sew step by step for years Its usually my go to book
i definitely want to get that swatch book. a must have!
Thank you! ❤ very helpful 👌🏼🙌🏼
I have been sewing over 30 years... and I have over half of those too.... lots of great recommendations for a variety of sewist... great job
Wow, thank you for reminding me sewing books exist! I have 5 books on embroidery but I never thought to look for books on fitting. 🤦♀️ My future projects thank you!
thanks for sharing i got the step by step book for my adult daughter she just finished her first maxi shirt.
I got the Pattern Cutting for Fashion Design for my birthday / Christmas. A combined present from my brothers....and I ♥️♥️♥️ it. Great selection of books!!
Fantastic review video!
Thank you for including Couture Sewing Techniques. You don't have to make a complete couture garment; you can use a few couture techniques on any design.
brilliant loved this video
Thanks sooo much for sharing, on Amazon right now!!❤️❤️❤️
This was such a helpful video! I’m definitely going to pick up a few of these ❤️
What a great and informational video. I studied fashion textile in college and the book we made for ourselves is much like the book you showed, however, I'm sure it has professional descriptions that could be very handy. We basically put in our interpretation of what we thought the fabric was. I will most likely add that fabrics book to my arsenal. I love how you show how real sewing is! Love you, love your show! From: US; California
Yah! I have the first book. Have had it for years. It is very good. Have been wanting to buy the book on draping.
Hi!! I'm one of the new ones here! I've been LOVING your videos! I'd love to one day get to where you are... for now I'm making an apron and that is a lot for me lol
Hey... I've not made an apron yet. So you are already ahead! Welcome and hope you are enjoying the content!
One of my favorite things I got from my mother is a apron made in 1950s style. Complete with all the trim, ruffles and bows. Go wild and enjoy your finished product. I wear mine all the time.
Love this. I hope this channel grows bigger. Just subbed!
Super helpful! Thank you!
In your last video I was very interested in how you make the basic blocks for the pattern and was wondering what books you used... This video is perfect!
Great information!
You're wonderful. Full of enthusiasm , and unabashed joy for your craft. Lovin' the name "Crafterpreneur". Great info and all around good vid. Thanks

You are so articulate and effective. I have books that represent everything you have, but not one is your book!
il modellismo it is the most expensive book that I have seen so far. thanks for your contributions I think I better buy one of the ones you suggest
Thanks for such an informative vlog. I’ve been sewing for a long long time and I still need to rely on some books. These are great. I’ve been following you for about 7 months and have loved traveling the world with you on your fabric hauls. By the way I’m going to Paris at Christmas could you share your favorite Paris fabric stores. Thanks so much
Ive done training with Alison, she is a lovely lady
Great review, thank you.
I got the Couture Sewing book in Fashion school as well, it was course book.
You have a fabric "passion." I've had the same passion too ;)

I have a few of those books and the ones I don’t I’ve been eyeing. Great reviews of them all! Now I want them all for sure!
My version of the swatch book is pink not yellow so I’m not sure if it’s a newer or older version of yours though.
Seriously though great video to help me explain to my husband WHY I need these books lmao!

I just came across ur page and I'm subscribing raitaway
Wow! Amazing list! Just added some of them to my Amazon list, but I REALLY want the swatch book more than anything. My husband and I like historical costuming so a few of my favorite books are geared that way.
Patterns of Fashion 3: The Cut and Construction of Clothes for Men and Women C. 1560-1620 by Janet Arnold
The Tudor Tailor by Ninya Mikhaila & Jane Malcom-Davis
The Art of Manipulating Fabric by Colette Wolff
Reader's Digest New Complete Guide to Sewing (our favorite all-in-one "how the heck do I sew things??" book)
Watching this while sewing an zipper on to my favorite messenger bag cause the last zipper broke p.s trying to use a thimble as well :)
I luv you!!!! 💕❤💕❤💕❤
Fabric addiction got me laughing. I think now that I'm sane. I love fabrics
Thanks so much; this video is helpful. I would appreciate it if you know of other swatch books you can recommend. Thanks again.
I went to my local university for a fashion degree but it was not as comprehensive in designing as I would have liked so I’ve had to do a lot of solo learning but have been struggling!! Thank you for these recommendations! I had completely forgotten that books exist! Thank you for these recommendations I really needed this video
Great tutorial. I have seen several of these books.
Could you( if you don’t already have ) do a tutorial/ post about your overlocker......I am debating to purchase one.....I have several different sergers.....is this worth it or not?
Can you do a video tutorial on replacing and putting zippers in Jean's and ladies dress slacks?
I have been sewing for decades but recently feel like all I make is mistakes. I am not a beginner but need a refresher course-which book would you recommend? Love your channel!
I have enjoyed this video! It has inspired me to pick sewing back up and work on my skills... one question; if ordering from your Amazon link, does it matter if your link is to amazon UK?, or should I just search for it in the US version? I wonder if that affects Prime?
... I feel like you read my mind!!! I have a cart filled with sewing books right now lol
Also is there so much thing as fashion for dogs lol that is what I would like to do
can you suggest any book about ready to wear pattern drafting 😊
Hi can u tell me what’s the difference of the Helen Armstrong 5th international edition book u have compared to the other 5th edition same Arthur with the checkers lookin pic on the cover ?can u be so kind as to show me the table of contents when u have the time pls? Of the 1 u have cause I have the other 5th edition but u make me get excited about that big one u have hahaha
What fashion school did you go to and would you recommend it
Please I need it ohoo
Can you recommend an overlocker/seger?
Hi!!! My Serger just broke and I'm asking around for advice, which one is yours? Do you recommend it?
Is it necessary to go to fashion school in order to be a sewing professional?
Where to see the book
Your books still looks new because you keep your hands dry, clean & grease free before touching the pages.
How do I get this book Helen Joseph Armstrong am in Nigeria
Do you have a reference for a good fitting book that targets pants, especially the lower part of the leg (e.g., calf)? I noticed that Palmer/Pletsch doesn't touch that part.
Actually, I just found the Palmer/Pletsch pants for real people. I will check that one out.
I watched your video and it's very informative and interesting but I have a one question that have you ever used a Japanese sewing book???
I have not... but I have all the pattern magic books on my wish list. Maybe ill take the plunge soon!
Hi lovely girl.how many dollars it costs one of this books except the one which is 50 pounds.thank you.😘
You are funny. Body symmetry...
I have most of the books you have discussed. I would recommend two books for improving your sewing and serving Serger Secrets by Mary Griffin, and Secrets for Successful Sewing: techniques for mastering your sewing machine and serger by Barbara Weiland. Both books are available on Amazon. I often buy the more expensive/ out of print copies of books from www.abebooks.co.uk as even with postage from the USA they can be cheaper than buying new in the UK. Both books have multiple techniques with advice on sewing machine feet, stitch settings (stitch width and length). Any sewing book that was published by Rodale Press is worth looking at. For fitting I would also recommend Create the Perfect Fit by Joi Mahon, especially if you have a large bust. Dressmakers handbook of couture sewing techniques by Lynda Maynard is also an inspirational book.
Omg that swatch book!!!! I have never ordered something so quickly in all my life!! I don't even care that it was $75 do you know how many times I've wished for something like that?! Thank you for talking about it!!! It'll be here Thursday and I cannot wait! 😊
