Yamaha 2.5 HP Outboard Motor & Honda Honwave T40 Inflatable Boat. This video shows us testing my auxiliary outboard, the Yamaha 2.5 HP 4 stroke on my Honda Honwave T40. It was the first time I'd tested this engine on this boat. I was keen to see if it could get us back to shore from two miles out. It wasn't particularly fast but it did the job in these pretty calm conditions.
I bought the Yamaha 2.5hp 4 stroke outboard motor to use as a backup engine as it's small in size and lightweight. It can easily be stored in the front of the boat taking up little space. I think the Honda Honwave T40 inflatable boat was just a bit too much of a challenge for the little Yamaha 2.5hp outboard motor so I'll maybe get a 4 or 5hp outboard as the back up outboard for the T40 and keep the Yamaha 2.5hp for my lighter boats. It works well with my Seapro 340 inflatable boat and does OK with my Honda Honwave T38 which is a lot lighter due to have a lighweight airdeck.
