- A short video tutorial on how to perform total planetary surveillance on Space Engineers and find as well as keep records of what's been happening on the surface of the planet you choose to surveil without using any of the exploits usually used to find other players in multiplayer

Note - Holes only persist ~3-5km from a grid, unpowered or not. If you're building a base, dig 5km+ away from it and fight the urge to dig underground.
Yeah c= those are good practices if you have a planetary base x3
If you do dig underground, do so in a geologically complicated area with lots of shadows and contrast.
Voxel healing from what I can tell is by default disabled in the trash removal section.
However, many server owners enable it to aid in server performance, and they can even tweak the distance from player to voxel and grid to voxel before restoration kicks in, as well as the time interval between voxel healing checks.
Ultimately, you'll need to inquire what the actual numbers are from someone with admin powers.
Just off-hand, I think default distance is 5,000m for both player and grids, and if memory serves, the default interval check between healing is 15 minutes. Something else to note is the admin can also allow healing to occur even with NPCs present, floating debris present, and a few other things.
Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you're really paranoid about being found, spawn in a space pod, convert it into your own ship using the merge block station method (so it won't despawn), and start heading out into deep space. Gather enough mats to build a jump drive and a few batteries (and a reactor if you find uranium), and then do a 2,000 Km jump into the void away from the planets. Build your base there, inside an asteroid with a natural cavern, if possible. At this point, the odds of anyone other than an admin finding your base is very unlikely, especially if your base is marked with GPS rather than an antenna. Avoid jumping directly to the base if other players are around to ensure you aren't followed. You can of course then use a carrier ship to act as a secondary mobile base for interacting with other players.
@@Gottaculat and on servers requiring a beacon or antenna, remember you can set a beacon to a range of like, 2 blocks, lol.I've done that with warships to be mean. just zoom in out of the void, running and other lights, and all thrusters, off to stealth cruise, then turn them on and light 'em up.
6 satellites is a bare-bones network, but certainly cheap enough to do the job. Adding laser antennas would allow you to link up with any drones or ships in orbit and high altitude. Under ideal circumstances, you have at least 3 to 5 connection points if you plan on piloting drones on that network.
In Soviet Space Engineers, planet watches you!
Literally 1984. Big sister is watching you.
Ye * -* big furry xD ♥
@@LucaTheGuide 😳
I looked into multi-resolution wavelets compression, interesting reads 8D
What's that O:
Yeah, don't mess with Luca! 😆
If I burrow into voxels, I'll try to find a near vertical face to create an entrance. They are harder to spot from a distance.
Also, on busy servers, if you spot weather activity below you, that means a player is somewhere under it. That really narrows down where to search.
Imagine having to use satellites to survey instead of creating a psyop on your enemies and send them screenshots of you in their base.
This is the way
Ok and how did you get the screenshots in the first place?
It's possible to cover all sides of the sphere while cutting down on the necessary satellites by only using 4, by placing them all in a kind of tetrahedral formation. If you could be bothered to line them up, it saves resources and effort in taking and sorting screenshots at least.
Literally George Orwell's Animal Crossing
That's why I always weld my space ship on the 2 day tops. Also why i go full blast, i will dig with warheads so it is definitely easier to extract and spot but since I would be gone by the time I am spotted, i don't care.
I see x3 might want to weld in space though xD
I wonder if this could be done better with the new antenna update?
Devious
And quite ingenious
Thanks Js x3
wow wow wow! slow down there Luca, this isnt 1984!
Furry84 x3
Spies ! Spies everywere !
>:3
It's kinda ridiculous how effective this type of surveillance is plus a satellite is really hard to find down to near impossible yet it can be made even smaller with small grid blocks tho you will likely have to spend some resources on thrusters so it doesn't float away into the sun
Ye * -* and I guess if you're careful even small grids can stay still x3
@@LucaTheGuide Can cheat it. Make a hinge. turn it into a station. then small head and everything else on that. i think hinges have ports on the bottom so you dont even need to add a control block to change it. best of both worlds. Now I gotta try this. lol
