It's unlikely to be a foreign crew doing barge work. It's unlikely they had two power failures, so yes, it's a coincidence.

Why is that barge even traveling there?!?!?!? Clearly that bridge isnt meant for that kind of boat traffic! Something definitely going on. Id be interested to know what kind of cargo that train rail that got taken out moves around and if its important for a port of importing products.
As a person who lives there. You don't know what your talking about. There is a sulfur and a oil storage plant near by the houses that bridge is a lift bridge tugs and barges go through it everyday. The piece of bridge it did hit was a old rail road that hasn't been used in over 10 years. It wasn't ment to be destroyed anyways. It's called a accident

@OldBadGamer614 it is a lift bridge. The part that lifts up is closer to the mainland than it is to the pelican island. I live here. I seen where and how it lifts. The part that got is different from the main bridge as it's a old railroad that hasn't been used for a while

@OldBadGamer614 it not ment to go under that part that is true because it broke free and the current brought into the old rail road section. Normally the tugs and barges don't come that close to our part of the shore. When the barge broke off from the tug it drifts.

The theory that these barges are being remote controlled is beginning to show relevance the way that Barack Obama's movie showed planes, cars, and ships, being controlled causing blockades in travel in major passageways to intentionally stop people from traveling. There should be no issue of money when it has to do with safety. What do we pay taxes for?

It's already been paid for, the real question is what's the deadline before the people who were given the money.
If I were the people there I'd demand them have whatever true they're going to hire with the money that was paid for the bridge working on it before the end of the week.
If not the people there should take the money back and go higher the crew to repair it themselves.
I am of course talking about the tax money, that's what it's being paid for. If the government cannot operate as a efficient middleman then they can simply be fired and taxes no longer given to them.

Most of the Bridges in this country are in disrepair, maybe the US government should take some of the money they send overseas and retain it for major public works projects???
It's actually not a shortage of Federal Money. The Federal Government does a money match program. It the State can pay for its share... the Federal Government pays its share.
Unfortunately, in almost all cases the State Department of Transportation (or similar name) is underfunded and they cannot keep up with bridge repair.
This was clearly highlighted in the study done after the 2007 Minneapolis I-35 Bridge Collapse. What the Minnesota Legislature found was that their DOT had competent people - but were so underfunded that they could only selectively work on a few bridges a year and had to ignore many real problems (and any bridge failure would be a "budget buster").
The Response was that the State of Minnesota 1) increased the gas tax for more DOT money, and 2) the voters approved a 1 time very large pot of money to repair/replace degraded bridges.
For the next about 12 years the saying was in Minnesota that there were two seasons: Winter and Bridge Replacement. At this point the State of Minnesota has replaced every bridge that was in poor condition and bridge replacement program is now just a low number of bridges a year. Also, they move very quickly on repairs when less serious issues are found (bearings that are not moving, etc) to keep the bridge from degrading further.
Minnesota is so far the ONLY State in the USA that has properly funded its DOT for bridge and road replacement.
So, the real issue is that the State of Texas is not properly funding it's DOT to take care of the transportation infastruture (which in modern parlance includes barriers to keep barges and ships from hitting key supports).
Note that there is constant barge traffic on the Mississippi river running though Minneapolis, and also barge traffic on the Saint Croix river to the east. So Minnesota and Wisconsin have to ensure their bridges on the barge routes are adequately protected from collision damage.
Was that barge foreign as well?

Time for the Dept of Transportation and Coast Guard to do something about barges. Maybe it should come from the person or company that did the damage. You know that’s how the rest of us are treated, we ram into something, then we have to pay to fix it, and we have to make sure we have insurance. Don’t these barges?
