Dimash is a phenomenon from Kazakhstan.
Dimash is one of the best, if not the best, singers on the planet today. He started singing lessons at 5 years old and was later found to have perfect pitch.
Dimash has been on stage since childhood: he sang and played the piano at various venues and competitions throughout his childhood. The young artist was not only a bright performer of famous hits, but also the author of his own songs. He had written seven songs by the age of 24.
His genres include rap, pop, rock, classic, Opera, traditional Kazakh folk and ballad. He is University educated with degrees in classical and opera, as well as contemporary music, pop and jazz.
He also completed a Broadway musical master class. On June 18th, 2020 he completed his masters specializing in composition and received his masters with honours having achieved the maximum score of 100%. He is currently working on his PhD in musical composition.
His 7 octave range (C2-D8 whistle tone) and 10 semitones is beyond comparison.
His vocals range from a rich low bass/baritone to extremely high soprano notes. On at least one occasion he has sung a D8 in whistle tone for 5 seconds with vibrato. He is humbly dismissive of this astounding fact and stresses that it is not the amount of range you have but in fact how you use it to move people. On top of all this, he embodies every song he sings and always gives 100% for his audience.
He's a genius at mixing genres in a song, a style he himself refers to himself as neo-classic. He has won many prestigious awards and is a decorated national treasure in his native Kazakhstan.
Dimash has performed songs in 12 different languages: his native language Kazakh, as well as Russian, Mandarin, English, French, Ukrainian, Italian, Kyrgyz, Turkish, Serbian, German, and Spanish. He speaks Kazakh and Russian, and studies English and Mandarin which he says is a difficult language to learn but he's doing well with it.
On May 24th, 2021 Dimash celebrated his 27th birthday. At 22 he was invited as a wild card to participate in I Am a Singer, a Chinese competition show for professional singers. He ultimately placed second because at the time the rules of the show disallowed anyone who wasn't Chinese to take first place. The show catapulted him to relative stardom worldwide and he became a pop superstar in China.
He is also famous in Russia for his neoclassical work with famous Russian/Ukrainian composer and arranger Igor Krutoy who came out of retirement to collaborate with Dimash. Igor has written songs for Dimash and arranged previously composed music specifically for Dimash. He is often at the piano for many of Dimash's performances.
Dimash has since introduced pop songs in Russia as well. He was on a solo world tour when the pandemic struck. There are several full concerts available to watch online. His concerts are usually around 2 ½ hours with an eclectic mix of vocal styles and genres. He was born into a musical family and both of his parents are famous singers and musicians in Kazakhstan, his mother being an operatic soprano. He was offered a position in the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but turned this position down to pursue his own path in neoclassical and contemporary music.
Although he works with producers, promoters and music labels in other countries his music is produced and distributed through his own company called Dimashali Creative Center.
Dimash plays seven instruments: piano, drums, guitar, keyboard, dombra (the most popular Kazakh instrument, like a lute), marimba (like a xylophone), and bayan (which is like an accordion).
Dimash is most widely known through his live performances and has released several albums, the first one going platinum in 37 seconds in China and triple platinum in less than an hour.
It has been widely recognized that his high notes are not whistle tones but head voice. Dimash rarely uses his whistle register but when he does it is spectacular.
He has many millions of fans worldwide which he has named his "Dears" He is soft spoken, polite, respectful, elegant and classy, also extremely humble, and possesses a wonderful sometimes self-deprecating sense of humor. He is often dismissive of his amazing talent and seldom goes without mentioning his love of country and its history.
Technically speaking, Dimash is considered by many as the best vocalist in the recorded history of music.

In this performance, he was 24. He is now 27 and sounds even better. I don't know how that is possible but he does.
He is from Kazakhstan. He grew up in a musical family and his parents realized that by the age of 3, he could play anything he heard. He sings classical, pop, folk, opera, pop-opera, world music and rap. He also plays many instruments. He sings in 13 languages. Speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He is learning English and Mandarin. You will see his English improving over the years, he sounds great now.
He calls his fans "Dears" because he feels like they are family. He credits them for his success and he is very grateful for them. Quote from him: “They are so devoted and give me so much support! So they are very dear to me. They are like family to me. Just as we love every member of the family, I love and cherish my fans and call them my dears.”
His favorite artist is the great Michael Jackson. He has performed his songs in concert and on tv shows. He also has some of MJs moves. 😄

It's not unusual to cry/almost cry when you hear Dimash, especially for the first time. His voice sounds like it's from a higher place. Dimash Kudaibergen has a phenomenal voice - a range of 7 octaves and three tones! His usual range, which he uses constantly, is more than 6 octaves. He has the title of "Honored Artist of Kazakhstan", he has a higher musical education in classical and modern vocals. After graduating from the conservatory, he was invited to the opera house, promised the main roles, but he refused for the sake of variety performances. He is university trained in Classical opera vocals to degree level, also holds a degree in contemporary pop music and jazz with a major in vocals, and now has finished his master degree in music composition. He has been having singing lessons from the age of 5 when his teacher noticed he had perfect pitch . He was offered a place at the Astana Opera in Kazakhstan but respectfully turned it down to pursue his own more contemporary musical career. He is a multi instrumentalist, more than 8 instruments and also sings in 12 different languages and has a range of over 6 octaves from a low bass A2 to a high soprano, plus a whistle register with his highest note so far being a 5 second D8 with vibrato. He is widely recognized as the best vocalist in the world. He speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, is studying English and Mandarin and has conversational skills in both but not quite fluent yet. He is kind, humble, generous and modest, very elegant and very tall, Dimash is 6ft 3, 1/4.

I’ve been watching Dimash for almost 2 years and I still get shocked and amazed at every performance. He sings from rap to opera, mostly live and perfect every time. About the tears thing : I've been watching Dimash reactions for the past several years, and I've seen the same thing from men and women all over the world. I've boiled it down to one single thing that I refer to like this : it is the reaction of a person (like you, like me) suddenly and unexpectedly finding himself in the presence of divine beauty. *That* is how I think of Dimash's singing. In listening to him, I am listening to a voice from beyond.

Yes, he sings these kind of difficult songs live constantly. And this is early in his career in 2018, only 1 year after his breakout performances in the Chinese "Singer" competition. His recent performance of this same song is quite different and even more beautiful.
I've heard him sing in Kazakh, Russian, Mandarin, French (this song), Italian, English and Japanese, but there are about 5 more languages.

Then after a few of his earlier songs, try his Be With Me music video for something different.
One warning - Skip all the performances from the World's Best competition. He was sick, they chopped up the editing of the performances and broke their promises, causing him to leave the competition to avoid unethical behavior (competing against kids he was mentoring) and then blamed him for leaving because they lied. It puts the Dears into a bit of a state and even makes me angry just thinking about it now.
Very enjoyable reaction. I don't know of anyone who did not get teary-eyed the first time they listened to his performance. You have not even begun to scratch the surface of this man's talent. The song “SOS (d'un Terrien en détresse)” is originally from a French-Canadian musical called ‘Starmania’ from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. What he said, in the end, was: "Allow me to say a couple of words. From all of my soul (bottom of my heart equivalent), I want to thank you, dear audience, for helping me with my career while I was participating in Slavic Bazaar. Slavic Bazaar really means a lot to young artists. I want to express huge appreciation to you again, come to Kazakhstan. Thank you very much"

He is considered to be the best vocalist in the world and a master performer. He sings in 12 languages and plays many instruments. He is an exceptional singer and excels in martial arts. His mother is a world-class opera singer, and his father is also a well-known singer. He was raised by his grandparents, which is customary in his home country of Kazakhstan. He appears in front of crowds of hundreds of thousands of people and is known to give the proceeds to charity. He is a very humble and shy man. He stands at 6 ft. 3 1/2" tall and weighs 200 pounds. Dimash is the best in the world ever! I listen to him everyday for the last few years and I'm still astounded! Keep listening to his music he will continue to shock!

Keep in mind that he sings in many different languages and many different genres! He can also rap! He’s a multi instrumentalist who has been training since the age of 5, he actually started piano when he was 4, then he began his vocal training and education. He’s about to receive his doctorate in Musicology. His Masters degree is in composition and his Bachelor’s degree is in Jazz & contemporary music. He has been classically trained and he still to this day does at least 3 hours per/day doing vocal training with and without a vocal coach depending on where he is around the world. Dimash has one of the largest fandoms in the world with fan clubs in every country in the world with the exception of a couple. There are certainly times when I'm listening to Dimash that I will tear up from emotions but other times I think the sheer magnitude of his talent can just overwhelm the senses. My eyes will sometimes water when I get that feeling of 'wonderment' (that's the best word I can think of to describe it).

This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after this song Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 millions of viewers over night. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to CZcams... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. But Dimash came, sang and stayed... for the next 3 years in China... but he only finished second in the competition because he's not Chinese (conditions have changed: The next year, Jessie J. won).
👉 A few months later Dimash sang this song here, as a guest of honor at the opening ceremony of the competition 'Slavic Bazaar 2018'. (He himself will no longer participate in competitions.) 🌼🇩🇪

It is well worth it to watch all Dimash's performances from I Am Singer 2017. And if you want the more recent, he did Fly Away, Ave Maria ( version by Igor Krutoy) and Stranger. With almost 170 songs to pick from, you won't run out of material any time soon. Dimash does several versions of some songs, and each version is also worth watching as they are all different. The way I found to celebrate the majesty of Dimash's talent was to have written the following about him: If I were to rule the world, I would immediately add, to the universal declaration of human rights, another article (they would become 31) whose wording would next "All human beings have the right, at least once in their lives, to hear Dimash sing". I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. I searched and never found anyone with these characteristics. Until, finally, I found this person and that person is Dimash. I had the opportunity to say this to Dimash, personally, when I was with him in Latvia where I went, coming from Portugal (there are 8000 km round trip), on the 7th of March 2020.
