Our mutual favourite patient, an elderly lady paralyzed with MS, was special to both of us- we used to come in on days off to visit, take her out for burgers and drives etc. Several times I brought my guitar in and my g/f and I sang a few songs for our patient, (and snuck her a beer in occasionally. Lol) and this was always the song she requested.

If i had to pick a theme song, i think this would be it. Rusted Root has been a constant throughout my life, good and bad, and this has pulled me through all of it. I turned 18 recently, and looking back on my childhood through this song, I can smile and know its not over yet
The first time I heard this song was on my vacation around 2010, when my cousin just randomly picked music, and ever since that, I've loved this song. And a few years after that, I didn't know that I would sing this song to one of my childhood friends that I fell in love with. Now every time I hear this song, it always reminds me of her, and it makes me smile.
I'm a 46 year old guy and I absolutely cannot listen to this song without crying my eyes out. LOL. Seriously, if I'm in a store or a restaurant and this come on, I have to run outside or into the bathroom, because once I hear it the tears start pouring out. It's almost as though I've just been told that someone I love has died - except it's not a sad feeling. I don't know what it is about this song, but it just crushes my heart. It's such an innocent love song it makes me think of everyone I've ever loved - spouse, family, friends, God, pets, neighbors, even lost loves - everyone I've invested my heart into.

In a crazy transitional period of my life I had to move back to Texas from Oregon. Drove back listening to this album, alone, with everything I owned in the back seat. It pretty much covered every emotion I was feeling and kept me from dwelling on any one of them. A beautiful and cathartic trip.

This song was my daughters favorite when they were little, and they are the only reason I ever heard this song. Hearing it takes me back to that time in my life, when me and my wife were madly in love and we had our dream home with our beautiful little girls. Since then my wife cheated on me after 15 years of marriage and life has totally fallen apart and my girls are now grown with their own children and I rarely ever hear from them much less see them. So to hear this song now is a little bittersweet, but if I close my eyes I can listen and for a few minutes I can drift back to better days and be young and in love again. Wish the song would never end.

On Valentine's Day of 2019, I had shown up at my girlfriends job to deliver flowers looking like the delivery man. I told the front desk when they buzzed me in that I was the recipients boyfriend. But the real surprise was when I serenaded her with this very song and it was so hard for me to get through because seeing her cry made me choke up. However I pushed through it like a champ and by the time I finished, that's when I just broke down because this song couldn't have been worded any better.
