Departure: Zurich Kloten Airport (ZRH), Switzerland
    Destination: Dublin Airport (DUB), Ireland
Join me on a unique flying experience with Aer Lingus in this detailed trip report. While not as renowned as giants like Air France or Lufthansa, Aer Lingus boasts a decent route network and a substantial fleet. But how does it compare to its bigger competitors? This video reveals all.
Our journey starts at Zurich International Airport, traveling light with just hand luggage. Despite some minor hiccups, like out-of-service electronic passport controls, the journey to the gate is smooth.
Witness the charming yet aged beauty of our 19-year-old Aer Lingus A320, dressed in its classic livery. Inside, the plane's age is noticeable, but its condition is surprisingly good, barring a few imperfections like chewing gum on an armrest.
Experience the quirks of air travel as we wait for missing passengers, and observe the commendable professionalism and warmth of the Aer Lingus crew. As we soar above the stunning landscapes, leaving snowy Zurich behind, the lack of in-flight entertainment and the absence of complimentary snacks on this 2.5-hour flight stand out.
Delve into the nuances of onboard service - from buying water to exploring the clean and well-maintained lavatory. Witness the crew's excellent service and my personal observations, giving you an insider's view of what it's like to work in the skies.
This Aer Lingus review is not just about a flight; it's about the entire experience, from airport to airplane. Get ready for an honest, detailed, and engaging insight into flying with Aer Lingus.

    About Aer Lingus (from Wikipedia):
Aer Lingus (/ˌɛər ˈlɪŋɡəs/ air LING-gəs; an anglicisation of the Irish aerloingeas, meaning "air fleet") is the flag carrier of Ireland. Founded by the Irish Government, it was privatised between 2006 and 2015 and it is now a wholly owned subsidiary of International Airlines Group (IAG). The airline's head office is on the grounds of Dublin Airport in Cloghran, County Dublin.
Formed in 1936, Aer Lingus is a former member of the Oneworld airline alliance, which it left on 31 March 2007. After the takeover by IAG, it was expected that Aer Lingus would re-enter Oneworld, however, at a press briefing on 15 November 2017 the airline's then CEO Stephen Kavanagh stated that the airline has "no plans to join Oneworld". The airline has codeshares with Oneworld, Star Alliance and SkyTeam members, as well as interline agreements with Etihad Airways, JetBlue Airways and United Airlines.
Ryanair owned over 29% of Aer Lingus stock and the Irish state owned over 25% before being bought out by IAG in 2015. The state had previously held an 85% shareholding until the Government's decision to float the company on the Dublin and London stock exchanges on 2 October 2006. The principal group companies include Aer Lingus Limited, Aer Lingus Beachey Limited, Aer Lingus (Ireland) Limited and Dirnan Insurance Company Limited, all of which are wholly owned.
On 26 May 2015, after months of negotiations on a possible IAG takeover, the Irish government agreed to sell its 25% stake in the company. Ryanair retained a 30% stake in Aer Lingus which it agreed to sell to IAG on 10 July 2015 for €2.55 per share. In August 2015, Aer Lingus' shareholders officially accepted IAG's takeover offer. IAG subsequently assumed control of Aer Lingus on 2 September 2015.

Hate flying, went on a flight from Atlanta -> Chicago -> Dublin. Aer Lingus however was a different story. The whole vibe of the captain, crew and the bombastic green colored A330 made me very comfortable. The pilots made the flight the smoothest I’ve ever had. I was sitting next to the wing, 1 row behind the emergency exit, but the noise from the engine was not irritating or annoyingly loud. In flight entertainment was great, and the map feature and real time speed tracking system for passengers to view was fascinating. Aer Lingus definitely conquered my fear of flying, and I love flights on the A330 regardless.

Being Irish and living in Manchester U.K. myself, with extended family still living in Ireland, our national airline Aer Lingus has in recent years adopted the business model of its main competitor Ryanair - this has been a disappointment and for many of us Irish abroad, this is a matter of national pride that this situation is rectified as soon as possible, especially given the costs of tickets - for these fares, I would have expected a business class offering or higher on larger aircraft types at certain times of the year and a more generous luggage allowance 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️

I truly believe that using a service, whatever it may be, is a personal and non-transferable event. Everyone will have a different perception. I can be amazed by a company's service and the person next to me may be hating the same service. Perhaps there are extreme exceptions, such as Singapore Airlines or Asiana, companies that always receive good reviews.
Still, everyone needs to try the product and have their opinion. This logically does not take away the value of vlogger reviews.

No it was 6€ for a single pack (20 cigarettes) not for a whole carton. In the duty free of other "expensive" countries like the UAE or Singapore I'm only paying 25-30€ for a Malboro carton containing 200 cigarettes hahaha so I was quite shocked that in AerLingus duty free a single pack is 6€ which is more expensive than the regular price in most other countries😅😅

Aer Lingus is no longer an Irish airline but many of us still fly it for sentimental reasons. Bad idea. In the last couple of months two long haul flights were cancelled at short notice. Leg room is diabolic for long flights. Food is crap. Yes, you can't judge an airline from just a couple of flights but over years you can see how service and quality have gone down. As someone mentions here they're trying to reach bottom like Ryanair and seem well on the way.
