Not to prod but its easy to say should of got the 4.6 they stopped issuing that engine in 2019 if I recall especially right now it's nearly impossible to find a Tundra in general
But I like the feeling of my gas pedal touching my carpet.
just watch for them cars with the colorful lights on the roof, watch this video and you will be Able to spin tires czcams.com/video/sGLbb7YlYkc/video.html thanks for watching
The last method is a life saver, I’ve saved hundreds on gas with that one. Thanks Jim!
Welcome thanks for watching Lol
Great video bub saved a lot of money from all your tips , I found pulling the motor helped alot as well
Thanks for watching lol
The rope idea was a huge help. As soon as I see a semi on the highway I get infinite miles per gallon.
I would like to see that LOL
I leave my 2016 Tundra in the Garage all the time. Bought it new in Sept 2015 and now has 23,300 miles. I couldn’t tell you how much money I save on gas 🤔😀 I ride my Yamaha 125 cc when weather permits.👍
I had a Honda 650 but I sold it. thanks for the comment
Loved the video and was hilarious and informative
Thank you
I have a 2007 Tundra 5.7 2WD - I average 20-21 mpg between Tucson and Phoenix keeping it on cruise @70-75 mph. It has 110,000 miles on the odometer - never had any serious issues- regular oil changes and maintenance is all! (Now, that’s not pulling a trailer- add a trailer and it drops to 11-13 mpg depending on size of trailer)
Wow lot better than the 4x4. Thanks for watching
What is the black thing near the emergency brake called? I have it In my truck
Thanks for watching maybe your talking about my brake controller. I tow a camper that has brakes on it.
does your truck box have a lot of play when driving it? as if the box is loose? i own a 2008 4.7 Tundra.
No, do you have a plastic bed liner in it. I had a bunch of rust fixed in the bed. It rusted from the bottom up.
2012 5.7 60k miles. I live in montana and I have to drive on the highway everyday with 80 mph speed limit which instantly makes you wanna go 90. Needless to say, with a huge air raid air intake, i max out at about 13 mpg with an average of 11 to 12. Its fun until its not!
Does the air raid intake help any?
@@DIYJIM well im sure it does. I had it in Dubai before i moved back over here and it stays about 120 to 130 degrees down there plus all of the sand, so i wanted something bigger and better. it helped in that sense but im sure its helping a bit with fuel. im just the wrong person to ask because the speed limit is pretty damn close to the carpet on the floor
Mine will get way better than that even at 90-100. Something not right with truck or ….
Nice video, i went with 5.7 because it has a timing chain , never needs replacement.
my next will be a 5.7 because i tow a camper and dump trailer
Patriot for freedom, I told my self the same thing but my timing chain ended up skipping some teeth @175k miles and had to replace the timing chain on my 5.7. Pissed me off
I'm pretty sure the 2nd gen is 4.6 instead of 4.7 and they have chains
Uhhh, tell that to my 2008 Honda Accord... Chain wont stop timing issues.
The sound of my truck is so nice tho I never wanna let off haha
Thanks for watching sometimes I want mine quieter lol
absolute gold loved the vid way to funny hahah
Thanks for watching
I have a '21 Tundra with the 5.7 and I get 16.5 in the city, 18/19 on the highway. Funny vid, but on a serious note, the tire pressure is an absolute must.
My Tundra is 14 years old it’s been a good truck
@@DIYJIM I've only had mine a couple weeks so far. Can't wait for days off so I can drive it again, lol. I can't believe how much more solid it feels than other vehicles I've owned. My neighbor has a 4runner thats pushing over 20 yrs. I hope to have mine for a long time. Love the truck. And I put a flowmaster on it so it sounds even better.
My 2010 toyota tundra gets 23 mpg
Driving downhill
Awesome video by my buddy Jim!
Thanks my friend
Tire size to , ive got mud tires, i go to the river alot , not so great on mpg but love them ha .
thanks for the comment
I love that last tip Jim, lol! Always love to watch your videos...GB!
Thanks
I went from a 2005 crew cab 4.7 rwd, to a 2008 extended cab 4x4 with the 5.7 terrible mpg. But the 0-60 sure is impressive.
I love my Tundra just wish I could get a little better gas mileage. Thanks for watching
The last suggestion made me laugh! Great video! Just picked up a Tundra. All wonderful ideas
Thanks for watching

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I didn't think I was going to be laughing so much when I clicked on this video.
Thanks for watching some have no sense of humor
Free flow in, free flow out is a good bit of advice. K&n with a flow master exhaust system frees up the hp and improves fuel consumption rate. Sounds pretty good too.
Thanks for watching
@@DIYJIM enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing.
The more air flowing in the worst gas mpg u got to flow less air in less air out for better fuel mpg !!
@@rickybailey7123 that depend on a lot of factors but with a clean set of injectors and some quality gas, generally that’s not the case. With an old 4bolt or something carbureted, you’re 100% correct.
Last one is helping a lot 😂😂😂
lol thanks for watching
I just bought a 2006 with the 4.7L and I drive a lot, like 1500 to 2000 miles per week so I definitely will try some of these suggestions. 😅
Thanks for watching
What about going from a 20 inch to 18 inch tires?
Not going to make a difference 20 in rim or 18 in rim the size of your tire should stay the same unless you want to recalibrate you speedometer.
Also, check for AFE dry performance air filters. Run nitrogen in tires instead of air. 👍🏾
Thanks for watching
Nitrogen is a con.
ya great ideas
Thanks Mr. obvious!!!
No problem Greg, thanks for watching
You really know how to save gas not touch the carpet lol
Thanks for watching
I really think the last tip is the best gas saving tip
Thanks for watching 😆
haha yu made my day
Thanks for watching
That's a great there's explanation. 😂
Thanks for watching
Add to all this a tonneau cover which means less drag!
The tonneau cover I guess helps a small amount. Thanks again Larry for watching my videos
The amount you saved on the 4.7 will even out with the cost of timing belts vs 5.7. I but I have yet to see a 5.7 with 1million miles.
My 4.7 has been a good truck only plan on keeping it until 200000
There's a 5.7 with a million and a few with half a million.
I always thought the 5.7 had a little better mPG since to have 6 speed transmission
Nope it does not, thanks for watching
Your channel is so amazing and unique! It really stands out :)
well thank you very much thanks for subscribing and Merry Christmas
I replaced my steel wheels with Alloy. My spare steel wheel is also alloy. I carry an air inflator pump because I keep my spare tire at 10 psi. I save about 2 more miles on gas.
Thanks for watching
How does the spare being at 10 psi conserve fuel?
@@richardpearce2186 My spare is about 50 psi. Shaving 40 psi in theory is to save weight. Shaving weight the idea of better gas mileage. The idea is the less weight, the better fuel mileage. Also I am only getting like 3miles better gas mileage on a good day with the all around alloy wheels and alloy spare. 1 on a bad day when traffic.
It is really not much gas saving. But I try to crunch a penny or two without jeopardizing the safety of the truck. Actually I try to penny crunch on even in my home. I had a bad fridge, I don't feel like paying for someone 150 dollars on average, only to tell me that they can fix it for 2 grand. I fixed my own fridge for 200 dollars on parts and free labor, me. Oh-right, am not really saving that much on gas but the little helps me.
@@HiThere-du4up Understood, thank you for explaining that. Furthermore, as a truck driver 1 mpg improvement equates to $15,000 a year in savings over the course of the year. So while your numbers are smaller, they are not insubstantial. Lastly, fixing your fridge not only saved you money but developed a skill set making you more valuable to the world around you while also reducing your reliance on others. Bravo sir.
@@richardpearce2186 Thank you. Truck drivers are the Back Bone of the U.S. Good luck to you and be safe on the roads. 🙂
You have the enthusiasm of a TSA agent dude
Thanks for watching
That Tonneau cover sure does help a lot, doing 85 mph on the highway I constantly average 18.2 mpg
Awesome thanks for watching
I like more 5.7 engine! More gas but more power for me!
Agree sometimes I wish I bought the 5.7
I use Lucas oil, and it help me save gas ⛽️
maybe I will try some time thanks for watching
I was wanting a useful video. I used to get 22-24 MPG on my 2007 5.7 4wd double cab long bed. Lucky to get 13 now. But this seems like not the video I was looking for.
Thanks for watching
I have high-powered magnets on the front bumper and tailgate others.
Good idea lol
I drive A 4 cyl a week and tundra on the weekends
That helps save gas. I live close to my work or I would have a car also.
What if the sign says 80 mph?
Good question take back roads lol.
i do 18 mpg mix on my 2016 4.6
Not to bad thanks for watching
I was already getting 12-13 mpg in my tacoma so i was like hell why not get a tundra make it worth the space
that is the same thing I did. My family could not all fit in my Tacoma
@@DIYJIM i got a 6 seater 4x4 crewmax trd off road package! With a smaller tank i dnt 38 gallons lol
I have a 2010 5.7 that get yes17 around town and 20+ on the highway. My 2008 5.7 got a bit better. My friend had the smaller engine a uses more gas. Way more. Not enough power.
guess i need to get the bigger motor thanks for watching
😂🤣😂🤣👍 Respect
thanks
Freakin' hilarious, well done lol
Thanks
Ha... useful ideas. I know I break most of those. Another option put on a balaclava and drive your wife's van!
thank you for the comment, hope your staying safe out there. I see i just gained a couple more subscribers if you were one thank you
The 4.7 is terrible with payload at only 1200lbs. My Tacoma has a payload of 1050lbs. I’m
Getting the 5.7 soon because I tow a travel trailer and want the payload of 2000lbs that the 5.7 gives
I would also like to have the 5.7
04/05/24- 07 Tundra MPG 19.3 After Refuel Mileage 144092- 68 MPH
Grouchy Old Vet - Only Limited By Ones Imagination! Getting Better on Cruise Control!

Less air in and out = better fuel mpg in every motor ever made till the end of time or less fuel psi not more if more air then that = more fuel !! Ive tested the k&N filter on 5 different types of vehicles over the last 23 years and every 1 of them got less mpg but they all had more power so in my testing of my vehicles thats what i found every bodys test may be different!! My stock stuff went back on when i started driving 180 miles 1 way to the beach every other week and it saved me alot the ele fans did the most fuel savings !!
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching
4.6 exten cab burs as much as the v6 Tacoma I’ve tested it
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching
Thank you Dr. Sesame Street
Your welcome
Nice Truck…
Thanks 👍
It took my slow ass a good minute to realize the sarcasm 😂😂
Thanks for watching hope your weekend is good
@@DIYJIM same to you Jim! Appreciate your channel
Never knew tundra came with 4.7
I think the couple tundras that have a million miles we’re 4.7 look that video up. Thanks for the comment, hope your summer is going good
I’ve got the 2019 Tundra 4.6 L engine and i came from the 5.7 L and am happy with it.
Lol facts. I put my 5.7 to the floor daily and I get only 11mpg
Drive it like you stole it LOL I also like to stomp on it once in a while
@@DIYJIM lol
@@Godisundefeated i see i got a few new sub's thank you if you were one of them it sure helps my channel
Ya know going 70 or 80 in this year tundra isn’t sucking that much fuel. Usually she will be in 6 gear running at just about 1500-2000 rpms. It’s when u get to let’s say 110 or 120 that’s when she sucks fuel.
Good to know thanks for watching
Funny but true.. My guy
Thanks for watching
What year is your Toyota?
2007 4.7
I have never known anyone who bought a truck then try to save gas.
Crazy agree thanks for watching
Smart ass lol
Thanks I try
Remove your bed cap!!! 😆
I did, but only because I tore the window off by backing into my garage. LOL
@@DIYJIM i need to take my cap off 😩
k and n may get better fue4l millage but it will junk your engine
thanks for watching
Another suggestion to save gas.....don’t crank it up!!!!
Good info thanks for watching
I dunno bout 2mpg with k&n. If they did all mfg would put them in
I like mine i just clean it out every few oil changes . thanks for the comment
My best way is drive it less 👍
You got that right, thanks for watching
You forgot buy a Prius
I should have said that also, thanks for watching and subscribing if you are one of my new sub's I can not always see who my new sub's are. Hope you had a good Christmas
Couldn’t find me a 4.6 L
I’m sure there’s not as many as the 5.7
@@DIYJIM just got a 2009 5.7 long box. Happy I found your video, I’ll definitely try the last step.
1:48 😂
Thanks for watching
😂🤣😅 best way to save gas on the tundra is don't drive the car if u do t have to..lol
Agree, thanks for watching, hope you have a good summer
Lmao
Thanks for watching
Hahaha....This is comedy.
Thanks for watching
Scotty doesn’t like those filters.
I like scottys videos I have had that filter on my truck since I have owned it
@@DIYJIM 👍🏻👏🏻
Summarization: How to save money in gas: Don't drive
that would definitely work lol, thanks for watching
If you really want to save on gas in your Tundra I recommend you buy a city transit pass !!...seriously people , why do you bother to buy a full size truck without owning an RV or a trailer or hauling bulky heavy loads for you bussiness etc...is like buying a Bugatti and complaining that you got charged $15000 for an oil change
I agree with that, I couldn’t live without a truck.
Buy bicycle save a lot of money and gas
Did that, thanks for watching have a good summer
LOL
thanks
Another tip. Dont drive it. It will save gas🤪
you got that right LOL
Is this for real
thanks for watching
Yours is a bore.7 lol
She gets me where you need to go lol
Ahaha this is comical you should of just got a 4.7 ya if you want something that can't even get out of its own way these trucks are big and heavy it needs the torque the 5.7 produces along with the power I love my 5.7 would never even think about a baby engine in this big truck.
Thanks for watching
#1. Don’t drive it 😁
That would work, or sell and buy e-bike and I plan on building a tailor for it just for fun maybe I can make another video going to the hardware store buying some 8" 2x4s, now I have to figure out how I can do that. czcams.com/video/WNEKSgaiBeI/video.html
🤣
Thanks for watching
you lost me at "K & N".........IMHO, if you have been running that "Air Filter" for very long you have literally shortened the life of your engine by 10's of 1000's of miles. K&N let's in way too many particulates that will kill an engine over the course of the life of that filter. Do some research.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for watching
I meant 15,300 miles and a K N air filter won’t save that much fuel savings. If anything you will drive faster to hear the engine more.😉
good point
The K and N filter, was the first joke.
Thanks for watching, hope your summer is going good.
😭😭😭
Thanks for watching
The point is Not to buy tundras if you want to save gas😀
You got that right, thanks for watching
Duh
Thanks for watching
Next tip to spend less on gas? Don't vote democrat.
100% agree on that
You own a tundra and you’re worriedly about MPG??? Get real
Not worried thanks for watching
Buy a shitter VW bug and leave the Tundra in the driveway.
I like the old VW bug reminds me when I was young
@@DIYJIM a friend of mine actually did that. Not an actual old bug but an old new style one.
I lost intelligence watching this video.
Thanks for watching
What a waste of time
Sorry no real good way to save hope your summer is going good
