Massey Harris #3 Baler Plunger Rebuild

  • Follow along as I remove the plunger and make new wear pads for it, and a new guide rail. No machine shop needed! But will the baler tie or will it bust the needles?

    what did you adjust to fine tune the knife clearance not to hit or be to far away? anyway nice job

      The slide rails that the plunger rides on are adjustable left to right once you loosen the bolts up that hold them. Thank you for your kind words.

    Yep that is one implement that doesn't do well sitting out in the rain! Man that is one rusted up bale chamber, I am surprised it ties. did you try it in the field?

      I did not get to try it out in the field yet. I had finished up my first round of baling when I got it put back together but I will probably try it out here in a couple of weeks in the field to see how it does.

      I was thinking the same thing - good way to blunt your drill and countersink bits.

    What thickness metal did you use? Got a MF 10 that needs this same thing

      I don't recall off the top of my head but I can measure for you if you want. I still have the pieces I cut them out from.
