Troubleshoot A Laptop Not turning On But Light Is On - EASY FIX

- To troubleshoot a laptop not turning on but with led light on (steady orange in this case), you should first test the laptop charger just out of pure precaution with a multimeter.
Next, perform a hard reset, which means pressing and holding down the power button for a few seconds (15-30), preferably with the battery out if possible, to discharge static electricity.
Finally, remove the batter, perform a hard reset, and plug in the charger without the battery. In this case, the battery turned out to be faulty, preventing the laptop to turn on. You can either buy a replacement battery, compatible ones are cheaper, or use the laptop continuously plugged into the mains power.
Remember to back up all your personal data regularly.

It's been 4 years since this video was uploaded but still served me well today. I was already cramming because of my presentation tomorrow and I'm not done with my slides. To add, this problem happened. Followed the steps and it worked. Can't thank you enough for saving me.

So helpful I was so scared that it was not turning on
Well at least this one wasn't so bad the battery was faulty, but sometimes some are not so lucky, where the motherboard itself is at fault, so in a situation like that often begs the question of "is it worth repairing or is it better to just replace my laptop computer?"

I first remove the battery, plug the charger, remove the battery, power button 20 seconds, and connect the battery, click for 10 seconds IT WILL TURN ON LIKE VOILAAA

I have this laptop and changed the battery and got power and the system shows power on charging with 100% battery but only when connected to power after power cord is removed it quickly shows discharge battery and shuts off. When I plug in power it comes on and shows 100%.

@@HealMyTech1 I changed my system reserved memory(Ram) from 2 GB to 3 GB after that my laptop fan turns on and turns off and the screen doesn't turn on. I tried removing the CMOS battery but it didn't work. My laptop doesn't turn immediately after changing the settings

I need help. I shut down my laptop while bios updating. Now the laptop won’t start. Everything is on and moving but the screen is black.
if you are tech savvy you can get a nano usb bios programmer and flash a new bios to your motherboard, if not take it to a repair shop.

I forgot it was updating and turned it off. I saw the laptop from behind
@@raytriccs8340 No it will not, your data is in your physical drive be it an HDD or SSD while the bios is stored in the ROM (Read Only Memory)of your motherboard so resting or even reflashing your bios will not effect your stored data what's so ever .

I have a Toshiba satellite L855-14c. Won't start up but the drive is still doing something. Orange light with battery in, white light without. I'm not very optimistic of an easy fix but any ideas?

Not gonna lie I’m going through this and I faced the fact that I have to take it to a computer repair shop and just pay to get a new battery , make sure they clean your vents for you and tighten your charging port

There is a better dedicated video for testing a laptop charger with a multimeter, check the time stamps, or card above. In fact there are 2 videos. The black negative probe is for outside the tip, and the red positive is for inside the tip touching the pin...

Interesting video have similar issue but sadly this video didn't help in my case
I have an Acer laptop sat here orange light comes on when plugged in to power supply but will not turn on at all
With this laptop I have to crack open the case to get to the battery and disconnect it when doing that I have also done the hold down power button trick even pressed on the reset button found in Mobo and then plugged in charger but this time when plugging in charger ( without battery ) the orange light does not come on
I had noticed also about this laptop that when removing the hard disk / memory bay cover it has a what appears to be an intrusion button now I'm aware that in older computers that used to leave messages if ever case was opened but I wonder would this button affect the laptop from turning on if button is faulty
Finally I not tried the power supply yet if it is giving out proper output but I am wondering if I can just try it with the power supply from my all in one PC the voltage is the same but the all in one PCs power supply has a much higher current output from what memory serves me it should be safe to try as it will only draw whatever current is required pls do confirm sorry been out of the electronics game for several years
