  • Have you ever actually dove into the world of communicating HVAC systems? Not from a brand perspective but from a technology and Sequence-Of-Operation perspective? This happens to be one of my absolute favorite topics to discuss and I guarantee you will walk away with a different perspective! We will discuss the 5VDC communicating system especially as it pertains to Daikin and the FIT system with a ONE+ controller and the EWC UT-3000 communicating zone controller. Join Us as we dive into communicating technology with my friend John Brown, Chief Engineer with EWC controls.

I always recommend removing everything except the indoor unit (furnace/air handler/modular blower) and the thermostat with a single piece of new control wire between them. I bring the thermostat to the indoor unit with a short piece of thermostat wire. Then fire it up to see if it recognizes the indoor unit. Then start adding the other components. When you get to the bad wire you will loose everything again. I’ve had corroded wire nuts, staples, even just corroded wire from critters chewing on wire cause poor connection.
