The moment the band started playing William Overture I laughed like crazy, that had got to be the most epic (and unexpected) thing to ever happen for those riders XDDDD
This absolutely made my day. It takes sheer talent to be able to play with such tone and accuracy while spinning around in circles for an entire piece. Especially for that piece. Amazing.
"They would NEVER do anything like this at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World." So says you. In 2007, when I went again to WDW, two things made my time there memorable. First, Mary Poppins not only signed autographs for me & my young sister, but she also rode the carousel with us, with me next to the seemingly rotating pillar, Mary to my right, & my sister sort of behind us. Second, when we met Mickey, he used my sister's head as a writing desk!
Omg this is one of the most epic things I have ever seen at Disneyland! I was like huh the band joined them on the ride, that's cool and then they start playing!!!! how awesome! lol.
This is awesome! I worked at amusement parks before and you NEVER see this. It's interesting that Disneyland allows though rare CM's to ride while in character. In a way, it adds to the magic that Disneyland brings to the park. Which is why they do allow it. I wish it would happen more often. Simply because you see adverts all the time with Characters riding. I have only been to Disneyland twice in my lifetime. Both times I didn't see hardly any characters. It's nice to see more of them coming out now
Great comment. I know yeah you always see the characters riding the rides in the adverts and promotional material, especially the big characters like Mickey and Goofy, but you rarely see it
kdm71291 My little sister used to be in Band and she ask some of her friends playing band and she said its not that really hard to play while marching and my little sister is a majorite and if there on competition they need to careful while they rotating their baton.
Tj Samson Yep! When I was in high school (Back when it was 3 years in my area), marching season was the first semester. We started 2 weeks before the school year started so Freshmen could learn how to march and we could get a jump on things. We attended street marching band review competitions all over Southern California. Proper competition marching involves a great multitude of factors, all of which are judged: Being smooth yet precise (which involves a certain technique), being in step and in phase, instrument position, arm, head and head-ware position, proper care and wearing of uniforms, esprit decor and the list goes on. All these factors must be maintained by the band members with unity! And then there's the march song itself that is used for competition, played while doing all the previous! It is also judged and must be played as precisely as possible! We were typically made fun of by the rest of the school but we brought home more awards than all the other factions combined.....a trophy every time out! I was voted "best marcher" by my peers all 3 years and we were fortunate enough to march and play down Main Street USA at Disneyland (While the rest of the students had to be in school, haha) and we even played the National Anthem on the field of Dodger Stadium for opening day with several other marching bands from So. Cal. in 1981. Hard work but worth it and experiences I am grateful for!
Oh my goodness!!! The band on the carousel is amazing! All those USC alumni/students... :D I am also always really impressed with Alice's hair. What a glossy head of hair!
Wow those guys are so badass. Playing when you can't see each other is hard enough, let alone on a moving structure... let ALONE that piece with is ridiculously hard on the lips for the brass. Kudos and more kudos. Can't wait for my next trip down, it's been five years!
i am really glad that you put these up... i was from california so i would go about once a year.... now i live in indiana and love getting to see this stuff thank you so much you are awesome!!!!
I want to do that too!!!! I'm so jealous of that tuba player right now >.< (I play tuba myself in a marching band, so seeing them doing this both amazes me and makes me jealous)
The Disneyland band on the Carousel was awesome! I've always wanted to ride on that or the Tea Cups with them playing...or with them or one of the piano players on the Mark Twain...but it's never happened! The only time I remember being on a ride with a CM (Other than the operators) was on a raft to the island when Pirates Lair was relatively new. Jack Sparrow rode over with my GF and I. Once there, however, he made it hard to get a pic with him and my GF was not happy, haha!
OMG this was so wonderful!! It's got to be hard playing a contrabase tuba while you ride that though... But hey, props to him for being able to do that! Wonderful video though! I love the Disneyland Band! Then again, I'm a band geek myself... :D
Oh my gosh, I was LOLing so hard I got scolded by my husband! XD Egads, I so did not take full advantage of my school trip in high school, I want to go visit Disneyland again so bad right now!
OMG That has to be one of the most awesomest vids on youtube. lol Thanks so much, been on a total Grassy withdraw since I think I've watched every hatter vid on youtube during the past month. lol
"I would very much like to see Mary Poppins on that carrousel!" She did it for me & my sister in 2007. We've pictures to prove it, of course, they're offline for safety reasons.
If the Carosel moment didn't inspire Alice/Hatter I dunno what would ;) And yes, I totally rode the Carosel ride when I visited Walt Disney World last. I tried to find Alice and the Hatter but I only caught a quick glimpse of Alice once! Oh well...also the band on the Carosel = WIN :).
@Chikoritababy15 I'd say they only get annoyed when they encounter annoying guests. Y'know, the kind who DON'T play along. The rest of the time they sure do enjoy it.
I think the... I want to say its an organ but I think I got the term wrong,,, in the Penny Arcade is pretty valuable too. Those two couldn't get any cuter *sigh* :) That would be so much fun to be sitting next to Alice and Mr. Hatter with the band playing and going round and round and round haha.
of course. Watching Hatter tie Alice to the horse and all I could think about is... things that a shouldn't. I blame you and your amazing, not 'bad things' but eluding to 'something', art. *nods lots*
@LinesOfNines Very carefully. I was in marching band in high school and we did something similar to this. Once you're on and situated correctly, it's not as difficult as one would think.
I like it when the band starts plating on the carousel and the mad hatter says oh my! My horse
The moment the band started playing William Overture I laughed like crazy, that had got to be the most epic (and unexpected) thing to ever happen for those riders XDDDD

Uncle Walt is looking down at this and smiling, I know it!
I love how Alice and the Mad Hater always act crazy!!!!
When they're playing on the carousel...man that song is hard to play :O
Wow the band was awesome! I love how they rode the carousel and played William Tell Overture! That made me laugh so hard!
Mad credit to the marching band on the carousel!!!!
ah wow the band is still playing! amazing!
This is just perfection, from Hatter taking Alice Hostage and practically tieing her to the horse, then the band places the ultimate race music
Wow! Kudos to the band for playing while riding!
And I got so shippy at the beginning of the carousel ride!
So THAT'S how they make the Carrousel musical! Amazing!
Wow!! The whole band riding the carousel like that looks amazing!
This is awesome! I worked at amusement parks before and you NEVER see this. It's interesting that Disneyland allows though rare CM's to ride while in character. Great performances by the band! Now I can't wait to go to Disneyland again!
Hatter: That's right. I'm a card :P
This is amazing. The band was playing William Tell just like Mickey in the Bandstand cartoon, plus they were spinning in the hurricane too!
the marching band on the carousel is EPIC!!
Now every time I listen to the march of cards, I march like a card! XD
Wow!
That band can play on the carrousel?
That is very impressive!
indeed it is
It's easier than playing while marching. Especially if you're marching in competition.
kdm71291 My little sister used to be in Band and she ask some of her friends playing band and she said its not that really hard to play while marching and my little sister is a majorite and if there on competition they need to careful while they rotating their baton.

This is the job I want to have when I'm older. Make people happy all day long.
Wow those guys are so badass. Playing when you can't see each other is hard enough, let alone on a moving structure... let ALONE that piece with is ridiculously hard on the lips for the brass. Kudos and more kudos. Can't wait for my next trip down, it's been five years!
A whole band on a moving ride playing that, now that's talent. Only at disneyland >:D
Omg this made my night! X) the band is amazing!!!
i am really glad that you put these up... i was from california so i would go about once a year.... now i live in indiana and love getting to see this stuff thank you so much you are awesome!!!!
Hatter: thats right i am a card
me: LOL
Btw when they're *all* riding the carosel and when they start out playing that tune with the trumpet when the ride begins, LOL!
I want to do that too!!!! I'm so jealous of that tuba player right now >.< (I play tuba myself in a marching band, so seeing them doing this both amazes me and makes me jealous)
Wow. I'm shocked at how much Jingles is worth. I'm so happy that I got to ride him in June. He's definitely the coolest horse on the track.
I just love the Idea of the Wilhelm Tell Overtuere at the Carrousel!
The Disneyland band on the Carousel was awesome! I've always wanted to ride on that or the Tea Cups with them playing...or with them or one of the piano players on the Mark Twain...but it's never happened!

disneyland is truly the happest place on earth
OMG this was so wonderful!! It's got to be hard playing a contrabase tuba while you ride that though... But hey, props to him for being able to do that! Wonderful video though! I love the Disneyland Band! Then again, I'm a band geek myself... :D
that's fantastic! I've always been afraid of that, thanks for telling me :)
thus another reason why I love disneyland soo much!! this is just too cute!
Is the band still allowed to do awesome stuff like that? Or does the "No characters on rides" rule apply to them as well?
wow that was fantastic!!!! the band was amazing!!
That was wonderful! Thanks for sharing with us!
I'm a trumpet player and playing while riding on a carousel sounds like something me and the rest of the brass people would do haha
Catie Tomlinson 卌 Same
I've only been to Disneyland twice and I never saw the characters doing stuff like this! Maybe next time
I so want to be there!!!! O.O
Not going to lie this just made me feel a hundred times better.
This made my day!

That's awesome.
My dream job is to a face character at Disney one day. :)
i hope they had fun
Oh my gosh, I was LOLing so hard I got scolded by my husband! XD Egads, I so did not take full advantage of my school trip in high school, I want to go visit Disneyland again so bad right now!
"SHUFFLE! SHUFFLE!"
This makes me want to pick up the trumpet I haven't touched in 5 years and play again! :)
i want to marry that trombone player.....he is so talented!
"That's right. I'm a card." omg i love that xD
FANTASTIC!!
I love all the little fun facts you had about the Carrousel. :)
Everyday Hatter and Alice are shuffling!
when they started playing on the carrousel i lol'ed
This is so magical!
she is the most adorable alice. and hatter...is the man
Please tell me when Gingersnap works at Disneyland, I'll be mad if I go and she isn't there!

0:02 I LOLED at Alice and Hatter. :'D
I LOVE the band even more for doing this :D :D
At this point I don't know. I haven't gone to see the band in quite some time.
"I would very much like to see Mary Poppins on that carrousel!"
She did it for me & my sister in 2007. We've pictures to prove it, of course, they're offline for safety reasons.
I love the little facts you put up in the video, Bri!
I love the random facts!! do more of those!! Pleeeeeeease! you must know a ton!
It's funny how mister Jingles there is worth more than some live race horses! He must be one mighty steed.
lol at the "SHUFFLE!!!"

I would very much like to see Mary Poppins on that carrousel!
1:48 " Thats right! Im a card!" XD
The entire Carrousel bit was truly a treat, including all those fasinating bits of fact. Have any plans to unfirl any more of those?
I think the... I want to say its an organ but I think I got the term wrong,,, in the Penny Arcade is pretty valuable too.
Those two couldn't get any cuter *sigh* :)
That would be so much fun to be sitting next to Alice and Mr. Hatter with the band playing and going round and round and round haha.
I would never be able to play on the carousel. I would get to distracted.
that was freaking awesome
RESPECT :)
ur so lucky. i would love to have ur job. u basically chill there all day and have fun...
Very cool!
I can't wait to go in 3 days! :D
I wonder if the Disney cast members actually have fun and enjoy acting silly... or is it all just an act and are they annoyed most of the time?
hahha this is amazing ! now im happy i have to get up this early hahah :D
Thank you so much, that just made my day. :D
This is really cool
of course. Watching Hatter tie Alice to the horse and all I could think about is... things that a shouldn't.

Lmao~ that's awesome!
@yoshiemai only sometimes. usually during peak seasons.
@MsErika333 Nope. They're not allowed on dark rides.
thats skill right their
0:55 LETS START A CAUCUS RACE. :D Maybe, if we waddle like penguins, the rest of the animals will join us for drying off again!
Was The Mad Hatter also yelling shuffle when they were dancing? I coouldn't tell.
@briberry That sucks. So they go on only the kiddie rides. (but I love the kiddie rides.)
I would love to see the video of the guy directly in front of the Mad Hatter.
