I flew on Concorde from NY to London. It was sensational ... I will never forget it. It’s like being in a Ferrari with wings. I sipped my Champagne and looked out over the wing at the curvature of the earth. Staggering.
couldn,t build one so cant have it and considering my previous comment the Boeing 747 will go down in history as the plane that saved Boeing and a marvel it still is
I can't believe this majestic piece of art is gone. Imagine that the Concorde only ever had one crash. These current airliners have a bunch of crashes and are still kept in production. I think without a doubt the Concorde should be brought back, despite it's enormous prices & costs. It's worth paying because it brought our spirits up. What a legendary aircraft.
The thing is, it didn't flew that much compared to Boeings or Airbuses. I think only 20 planes were made. And it flew after the crash, up until 2003, so the crash is not the reason. But I agree, it's the kind of crazy achievement that is worth doing, even if it's not as profitable... I can't believe that we were able to build that in the 60's, and so far it's the last supersonic commercial plane. Can't we do better 50 years later ?! Like, just as fast, but cheaper, safer ?
I was number two behind a Concorde at London Heathrow back in early 90’s , flying a Canadair Challenger , the noise and dust from Concorde taking off was awesome ! Truly a marvel of engineering and sheer power combined in a beautiful and graceful airframe ...........
That's a thing of beauty.... It was almost visible how the engines were gasping for air sitting idle at the start of the runway, jus waiting for the clear to let go all that power... It must to have felt awesome to be at the cockpits unleashing all that thrust and patiently waiting up in the air for this bird to gradually accelerate faster than the noise its Rolls Royce's engines were blasting out.... How lucky those pilots really were....!
Most Beautiful Commercial Aircraft. Had the privilege of spending several days to inspect one of these Concords while it was in Indianapolis. I was in awe of the Landing and the Takeoff Of this Beautiful Bird Like Craft. I’m loss with The Proper Words to Describe how watching this Bird in Action makes you Feel.❤️😍 Love it.🙏

Yeah man i was going to say that also. Shame that all the good planes they make, they retire them in no time, A380 is also going to be retired in some years from now, because of 777x and A350-1000, seems like companies only care about money instead of a happy customer. Luckily i will ride an A380 in March.
I've never looked at that angle this way... That is the saddest face I've ever seen. Poor old girl is left to rot on the ground, when she should be up in the air, being an inspiration to us all. Showing us the future, the new jet age. Concorde has to be the most beautiful jet ever made. Every angle, every inch was perfect. She was and forever will remain the queen of the skies.
The Concorde... the greatest civilian supersonic jet ever built. The Concorde could fly over twice the speed of sound, and fly up to 60,000 feet in the atmosphere. She could fly faster than the earth could rotate, and, thus, could leave London and arrive in JFK prior to the time she left London :) ... I know that this is hard to understand, but London is about 5 hours ahead of New York. Since the Concorde could fly this distance in three hours, if it was 6 pm when the Concorde left London, it would only be 9 pm when the Concord arrived in New York, instead of 11 pm :) The normal flight time from London to JFK would take @ 5 hours, but the Concorde could fly this flight in @ 3 hours.) There are some nice clips of the Concorde from the cockpit... This is a marvel of a jet that I wanted to fly, but it just never happened.... Maybe, it was just best. I did walk through one of the Concordes, and one of the Tupolevs TU- 144, supersonic jets in the Technical Museum located at Sinsheim, Germany, all the way into the cockpit. The windows were very tiny, and the view from most windows was blocked by the massive wings. Maybe I didn't miss as much as I had thought.

Concorde typically left London in the early morning to allow a full day of work in NYC. In the last several months the departure time was changed to approx. 6:30pm arriving at JFK around 5pm.

Thanks for the wonderful video of an aviation icon. This is the first time that I have seen a video of the nose visor being raised. Concorde remains the most technologically advanced aircraft ever produced and belongs to that rare group of machines in that when it was retired it held a stack of world records (and still does). Today there is nothing flying that even comes close to Concorde's' capabilities not to mention its incredible beauty. The world is a lesser place without it gracing our skies.

The main reason is the cost, using it as a commercial airplane would lead the company in debt
And that crash was down to a badly maintained American Continental Airlines DC10 leaving debris on the runway.
It was too expensive to run. Don’t forget 9/11 was shortly after.

The windows were an okay size. The view was fine as the wings were low enough from your seating.
