Congratulations on being completely debt free. When we became debt free, we decided that our number 1 goal would be to make sure we never ever went into debt again. We buy cash cars and our emergency fund has an emergency fund.

I watched this video on Sunday. It was amazing to see you find the money you did from your binders. Yesterday, my husband had oral surgery, and I had to get new brakes and tie rods for my car. Combined the costs are $3,450. It was so devastating to have both happen on the same day. But I came home and raided MY binders. I had been saving for his surgery, so that helped. Anyway, I was able to find all $3400! I need to start over in all my sinking funds. But discovering that money tucked here and there was such a blessing! Thanks for continuing to envourage me to keep going on my cash stuffing journey!

We just did the opposite to have the same result so i get it! We took our truck in and they said 15k to fix it and we should scrap it and buy new. My truck is paid off and I got it for way less than it was worth. They didn't understand why I would want to put 15k into a 2008 truck. "just because I can afford a new truck doesn't mean I need one" 15k was a lot less than 90k for a new truck. We ended up taking it to a different ford dealership and they did the work for 6200!

Cars are such a pain in the bum; I'm glad this headache is out of your life, even if it brought you some joy. Thank goodness you had the emergency fund to let you make an important decision like that! You can use your BMW payments to beef up your emergency fund. 11:34 made me 'Awwww!' out loud - hope it happens for ya, Matt! I saw the face-palm, and you did SOME fixing, but I think you still have some fixing to do on your tracker/prop money, etc.

Thank you for telling this story! I you made the right decision!!!! Oh boy.... I had a BMW 535xi and it was a beauty... until I needed the work done. There's just something about those cars that are so expensive, maintenance wise. I had an oil leak that NEVER could be fixed. I was putting a quart of oil weekly into it. I must have brought that thing in at least 7 times and they could never fix it. Then, one night, I was driving at night in the rain and the windshield washer blade and arm FLEW OFF !!! That was it for me. I now have a Ford Explorer and never been happier!

Must be the season. I have been fighting Penumonia for almost 3 weeks and probably still awhile before I feel like I can function. Saying good bye to your car was hard but now you have close to $1500/month to put in your emergency fund so in 4 months you will be back to square one and can then focus on a new goal to complete. Foreign made cars like that are going to be more costly to maintain. Always research before buying a vehicle. I feel bad for you bc BMW was my dream car too. Losing the car means there's now going to be room for something new to replace it. I believe everything happens for a reason. I think you did the right thing bc there's no guarantee that the car would be fixed right. Then they'd be trying to pry more money from you.

I’m glad you got rid of that thing it would have protected just kept snowballing with more and more issues just like houses can. Sometimes it’s just better to cut your losses and free up your peace of mind. Now you can still say you had your dream car , even if it turned into a nightmare 😄. Glad you are starting to pull out of this junk you have now and feel a little better. Why don’t you also just start a new car fund and if you can go without your own car for a while you can maybe pay cash for maybe a nice used one or have a nice big down payment so that your payment would either be really small or not have one? Have a great day, luv ya friend 🫶🏻🌸
