  • Clouds Rest - Yosemite National Park - Full Hike
    Keep Moving as we venture through Yosemite National Park and explore one of the most popular hikes in Yosemite.
    We'll journey through 6.5 miles one way in this virtual hike as we travel along the Clouds Rest Trail via Tenaya Lake. The full hike is 13 miles long, over 7 hours duration, and has over 3,000 feet elevation gain.
    See the amazing views of Yosemite National Park, the lush forest, and get a glimpse of the draw dropping views of Half Dome and Yosemite Valley from the distance at the top of Clouds Rest.
    This is a difficult hike with lots of elevation gain. Be cautious and be careful if attempting to hike. Make sure to bring lots of water and snacks and all essentials.
    Use this video to see what you'll experience along the trail.

    Thank you so much ... did it once in my 50s. Now in my 70s, so I'll never make it again - except with you. The views are better than Half Dome - if you've done Half Dome, you've GOT TO DO THIS.

    An awesome awesome hike if you can do 14 miles in a day. The views are even better than Half Dome. Only downside was you go up in about a mile from the trailhead and then you go back down. So, coming back you actually have to go uphill again for a ways.- instead of the traditional up on the way there and down on the way back. The extra effort is well worth it ..

    Q? Did you start your hike in the valley? Where did you start? I appreciate it if you can share that info. Happy Trails!

      Happy to share! This hike I started from Tenya Lake near Tuolumne Meadows, so not in the valley. You can start from the valley, the trail follows the same one as half dome then splits off but that hike would be 20 miles long RT

    Thank you for this amazing video! I’m about to hike Clouds Rest for the first time in a couple of weeks. Some points in the video, it seemed hard to see which way the trail continued. My biggest fear is getting off trail and lost. Do you have any tips or advice to avoid that? Thanks again for sharing this video!

    • @KeepMovingHikingChannel
      @KeepMovingHikingChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      Have fun! This is an awesome hike. Long and tough but some of the best views you’ll ever see. If you’re worried about getting off trail I recommend download the AllTrails app. It’s $100 for a lifetime membership and you can download trail maps for offline use. They use gps to track where you are and it shows you the trail path as well. Or you could find other free trail apps but I like AllTrails the best

      @KeepMovingHikingChannel  Před 3 lety

      This will be an epic hike! Hope you have fun. Weather is perfect in July. Not too hot but bring plenty of water and snacks, it’s a long trek. FYI if your planning on visiting, Yosemite NP is requiring advanced day permits to enter the park

    Can you refill your water bottles at the pond that's over the half way mark if you treat the water? Does anyone do that at this pond? Or is this pond considered too dirty to even treat the water with those iodine type drops?

    • @KeepMovingHikingChannel
      @KeepMovingHikingChannel  Před 3 lety

      i wouldn't recommend drinking water from that pond. I think it's best to carry all the water you'll use 3-4L, I took 4L and had plenty extra. I always carry a water filter and would only use it and water treatment pills at the pond as a last resort if suffering from extreme dehydration.

    Where are you starting from?

  • @thomza
    @thomza Před 2 lety

    Do you worry about mountain lions on this trail? Probably at night it could be a problem?

    • @KeepMovingHikingChannel
      @KeepMovingHikingChannel  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't really worry. I think it's very rare to encounter a mountain lion or bear on the trail. Plus this trail has decent foot traffic that most animals stay away
