  • This is a video that I filmed on Sunday August 2, 2015. I started at the Sutherland Dr entrance to Sunnybrook Park in Leaside and rode south through the Don Valley to downtown Toronto. My ending point was the intersection of Queens Quay and Yonge Street.
I used my Contour Roam 2 camera to shoot the action footage and recorded the audio with my Panasonic voice recorder and earpiece microphone.
I hope you enjoyed this biking video.

Thanks for taking us on this trail ride. This equals anything in NYC. Toronto has put some $ into this trail. At the end of the ride I noticed you were carrying one of your instruments, I guess you just never know when you may break into a song. Thanks again, good job...

Great video. My suggestion, please put caption/text where you are (whenever you pass the bridge, cross the street, pass the park, etc) so we could track you on the google maps and would give us ideas. By doing this you could help a lot of new bikers like me and others for planing a cycling trip, and eventually make your cycling vlog even better. Thanks for videos. Keep cycling.

I'd recommend the Toronto Cycle Map to new riders. They are available through library locations and local bike shops. The show all of the trails in the city, as well as the on-street bike infrastructure. Thanks for watching.

Thanks! You probably realized this when you tried, but the lower section is currently closed for reconstruction. There is a nice detour along Bayview Avenue though which I hope you found.

Are you going to show the other paths in Toronto, such as Etobicoke and others? The Island paths are cool as well, especially when biking in the residential area. You can also see great panoramic views of the Toronto skyline as well.
I'd join you on these paths, but I don't have a bike and don't have the stamina to do these trails at the blazing speed you do.... yet.
I'd be dying if I were to go back up north - did you do that or take transit back home?
    Thanks for these videos!

Currently, I'm email a chap in Brussels showing a pic of himself in what looks like a ravine. I used to bike in the 90's when I live near Woodbine & Danforth. I would enter the ravine system via Taylor Creek Park & would reach a spot that I saw as you passed the concrete bridge. There's a fixture that was installed near that time where plants were "potted". If that's the case, I would travel thru the Don Valley system biking under the Overlea Bridge, Danforth-Bloor & subway bridge, Gerrard near Riverdale Park, Queen E then reach Cherry Beach. Back then, I don't think the technology existed that you are using - record visual & audio. I also don't have the savvy for it. Thanks for the tour.

    • @parkway811
      @parkway811 Před 6 lety

The spot where you referred to "flower pots" just after the concrete bridge has me confused. Either they reconstructed the area or it's another location that I'm thinking of. As I headed west along Taylor Creek I would come to a parking lot. I would turn "north" where those cars entered from the DVP. That concrete bridge would be to my right as turned onto that path the goes under the bridge. Back in my day, the riding part had no metal grating which I hear as you rode over it (clickity clack). When you referred to the traffic noise that would be on your left with the river by your right heading southish. I'm typing after watching segments. Millwood Bridge? I'm thinking the bridge that leads to Pape. Back then, I would see markings honoring those that jumped in the form of flowers & a cross. 20:19 mark.

After the bridge, yes you are going up hill. To the right, there is a police "station" for the K-9 unit. At 22:38 the 2 cyclists turn right which I recall leads to a small bridge. You turn left to continue.
A lot has change since my days. That road crossing should be at the bottom of a road leading down from Broadview. Just up a bit is Fantasy Farms where & when I was employed the company held Xmas do's. That wait & cross is different as it used to be like an island.
The LED lighting under the subway bridge was there in the 90's. Anyway, The spot where you ride under a tunnel is familiar because the uphill climb was difficult for me.
After crossing the bridge, you pass under the Riverdale Park bridge. Nothings changed from this point.
The next under bridge should have been the Gerrard followed by Dundas.
The bridge with a stairs leading up....Queen? That's new.
Those overpasses have to be new or least reconstructed. I do recall a rail bridge that was no longer in use in my biking days.
The Lakeshore Rd you had to stop at I don't remember.
In my day, nothing was built up.
You must be heading south west because my route would take me to Cherry Street. I had to cross this wide bridge that lifted in the middle for ships.
Your tour is all new to me. After crossing on to MG Trail it seems you are heading west. I only know the trail from Cherry St. to the east.
      Regardless, I enjoyed the trip.
PS: My biking days ended circa 2005 after having 4 bikes stolen (2 per year) by that ring that made the news. I now live in Scarborough.

Not to be depressing , But by all means i was wondering i just got a stationary bike & if i was to peddle this thing along while watching You DO YOU THINK IT WOULD HELP ME GET THE SAME BENEFITS as if i were riding my bike like i do often . I have lost weight & kept in fair health ( BUT NOW WEATHER PENDING I AM SOMEWHAT DISCOURAGED) Please tell me if i do this will it give me the same results or is it not the same as Riding ? P.S Sorry for the long Print Don't comment much This is new for me ,Thanks Mike.

I have received comments from people in the past who have mentioned they use my videos for that specific purpose. Of course the amount of exercise that you get from an exercise bike depends on the amount of resistance that you add to it, and the speed that you pedal.
