I've Realized That I Have Lost All Respect For My Husband's Willful Ignorance, And It May Damage My Marriage.
--------
A 33-year-old woman recounts a deeply personal and tumultuous discussion with her 37-year-old husband about politics, specifically focusing on their differing views regarding their 7-year-old daughter's rights and bodily autonomy. The couple's political alignment differs significantly: the husband votes Republican, while the wife, once politically indifferent, has become increasingly concerned about social issues, particularly women's healthcare and abortion rights.
The woman's concerns stem from a traumatic family incident: her cousin, living in a strict anti-abortion state, nearly died from sepsis because doctors delayed removing a dead fetus. This event sharpened the woman's political views, leading to a fear that similar situations could endanger her daughter. The conversation with her husband turned intense when she expressed these fears, highlighting her terror at the potential dangers their daughter could face due to restrictive healthcare laws. She accused her husband of willful ignorance, prioritizing economic policies over their daughter's safety.
In her emotional outburst, the woman told her husband that if their daughter died due to preventable issues, she would abandon him, equating his political stance to watching a slow-motion car wreck involving their daughter. Her blunt and raw declaration left her husband hurt and questioning her commitment to their marriage. The next morning, she apologized for her harsh words but remained firm in her stance, emphasizing the seriousness of her concerns.
The couple eventually had a more composed discussion where the woman used a graphic hypothetical involving her husband's reproductive organs to illustrate the severity of denying abortion rights. She asked him to imagine the risks of carrying a fetus in his body, leading to potential death or severe injury, to help him understand the importance of bodily autonomy and healthcare choices. This analogy seemed to make an impact, and the husband began to grasp the gravity of the issue.
The woman also expressed her loss of respect for his willful ignorance and resentment at having to explain such fundamental concerns. She underscored her distrust in his ability to always make good decisions for their family and her feeling of isolation in shouldering these responsibilities alone. Despite the intensity of the conversation, the husband listened attentively and reassured her that he would support their daughter's healthcare needs, even if it meant traveling to another state for an abortion. His willingness to reconsider his stance and prioritize their daughter's safety restored some of her trust.
The discussion ended with the husband acknowledging the weight of the issues raised and needing time to process everything. The woman, while not overly optimistic, felt a slight restoration of trust, hoping that her husband realized the dangerous implications of their political choices on their family's future.

Man these comments aren’t it
OP needs to leave her husband and quit egging him on that she *might* stay. If the trust is truly gone then it's already over and I think she knows this.
2 minutes in and things already went from 1 to 100 holy shit
No-one gets a say in individual physical or emotional well-being. Those men don't get to say whether abortion should be legal or not. This shouldn't be a topic to discuss to begin with. I am not saying dad's should not get a say about their baby. They should when it's there baby growing inside the womp only then but not some man sitting at parliament.
What about the baby's individual physical and emotional well-being whilst in the womb?
@@cantdestroyher7245 It doesn't care, Its barely alive and again IT DOESN'T CARE.
It literally doesn't even know it exists.
@@cantdestroyher7245 It literally can’t feel pain until around 25 weeks and it has no concept of living. A barely developed clump of cells wouldn’t care if they were removed because they can’t fathom anything.
It’s true that individual physical and emotional well-being should be a personal matter, especially regarding such sensitive issues. Do you think that more inclusive and empathetic discussions could help bridge the gap on this topic?
@@AkA553 my response was deleted... what a surprise
No uterus no opinion
Abortion isn’t a human right. You can call it that all you want it doesn’t change the facts. Imaging taking a human life and saying it should be a human right. What a joke. lol
This is unhinged on many levels...
First, that was medical malpractice if it really happened as it was told to us and most conservatives would agree with this. Abortion implies a living fetus on the first place, so not comparable issues.
Second, this way of thinking is so annoying when they say you should think about other people and be empathetic but vote on the people who are literally responsive directly and indireclty for the killing and assault of hundreds of thousands of innocent children, including little girls who died or were enslaved and found destinies worse than death. Republicans also are guilty of this, but Trump's wing at least is much less interventionist on this sense. So, whilst sitting on a high horse these people ignore the literal killing of innocent girls on other parts of the world. Just seems pure elitism because since it doesn't directly affect them, it doesn't matter. Voting on a single issue is dumb and this post reads like propaganda more than anything else.
It has already happened to several women and they even testified in front of Congress on this exact thing, and these were women that wanted their babies and now they can't have any due to emergency hysterectomies that was caused by carrying dead fetuses
While that is malpractice is it protected by the removal of roe v wade- while this wouldn't be an issue if it were still in place
Abortion isn't actually just a living fetus. Abortion is any form of flesh growth in the uterus as definition in a lot of places. People have come out about having "abortions" that weren't actually babies, but tumours or cysts.
Also there's been a lot of medical channels promoting stories of women who had to wait until they were almost dying to get a baby removed just so the doctor couldn't get their license removed. It's pretty grim
The story is stupid
Can you tell me more about why you think the story is stupid?
The points made in this video are literally all emotionally based
It's American politics it's just dramatic and not based In logic
Even if the economy thing was true, It's kinda wild you American have to chose between human right and economic. I mean, we literally put abortion into the constitution here to avoid this kind of horrific situation. Damn.
@@ectophyllaalba6003 ok number one do you know the difference between negative and positive rights number 2 abortion is not a human right
@@chrismaurer2314? Of course, we can always discuss of what is suppose to be a human right. "Rights" is a creation based of what we consider good or bad. If I understand well, you consider that disposing of you're body freely is not a good thing then? Even to save you're own life. Okay, anything you say. But that pretty funny to me tho, when abortion came into our constitution it was voted at 88%. It didn't even made the news. Nobody cared here. It was mentioned of course, but that's all. We're suppose the be the country of strikes but there weren't any. It's always interesting to see how much turmoil it causes in America in comparison.
But positive or negative rights? A weird phrasing indeed. For who? Society, people? I am not very sure of what you're talking about. We decide rights within what suppose to be fair, whatever that mean.

how would this break up the marriage?? you’re ruining your own marriage over a hypothetical situation that probably wouldn’t happen ☠️
So many vote blue no mater who comments in the redid post
This whole video was just political propaganda and didnt depict the turnover of roe v wade correctly at all.
And makes the point that liberals are completely unhinged. He should get out asap
But cases where women have died due to the law have already happened (it's not red or blue it's just a women's rights issue)
You're divorcing your partner over hypotheticals and have few internet trolls egging you on congratulations
Yep she’s another victim to feminism trying to make all women lonely “empowered” Karen’s
Wait what’s her issue??? She’s mad because she can’t abort her daughter??? But isn’t her daughter already born??? I’m lost
Oml no, she's scared because if her daughter were to have life threatening pregnancy issues, the law wouldn't be able to back any women in danger if they are located in a state with anti-abortion laws. Therefore her daughter (and the baby in some cases) could die
You should watch until you develop basic comprehension skills. The issue is not about aborting the daughter; rather, it's about the husband's seeming ignorance and unwillingness to fight for a better future for his daughter. Current laws risk the life of a woman by requiring her to carry a dead fetus instead of proceeding with an abortion when it is verified that the fetus is dead. This not only endangers the woman's life but also prolongs her suffering, as she has to live knowing her baby is dead inside her.
What scares OP is that the husband doesn't acknowledge the real possibility that their daughter could be a casualty or be denied a choice simply because a group of people want to impose their will on others' bodies, determining that their lives are worth less than a fetus. That is the issue.
@@giummatos I laugh whenever I hear Americans speak about comprehension skills 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ Where I’m from instead of creating misunderstandings from lack of communication & making assumptions…we chose to talk about stuff we don’t understand by you know *Communication skills* I didn’t know something soo I asked a question about the something i never knew….Thank you for telling me but the rudeness was unnecessary
@@soup9508 Isn’t abortion also dangerous for the babies health???

Wow, this story is incredibly powerful. It must have been so tough for you to confront such deep and personal fears with your husband, especially when it involves the safety and future of your daughter. Do you feel like this conversation has brought any lasting changes in your relationship or his political views?
Wife is a bit silly, you cant force someone to care or expect them to be knowledgeable and smart in these situations if its not in their personality. Some people just arent that thoughtful
