The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

Who do you THINK will win, and who do you WANT to win Game 7?
Honestly Jonny I have no idea who’s going to win and I’m happy for either team if they win.
On a side note, I have to say that I really appreciate the fact you’re going to include at least one of my questions in your 200 Q&A video. If I were to suggest, I think you should my question about Catlin & my question about international superstars since they’re about current events. You can skip the Rauf one completely actually. A further suggestion would be to combine my question with other viewers questions so you can cover more ground
Thank you got something there.Whatever hits the switch and the game on sunday will win
you should do a video of the best game 7 series matchups of all time
Im happy that we dont know who wins
well, both teams wanna win game seven but I would have to go more to the side of the Nuggets because they are the defending champs, but if Minnesota wins, I would not be surprised
Big fan of the unscripted commentary. Most if not all unscripted reaction channels don’t have the wealth of historical ball knowledge that you have which leads to a great unique perspective that I can appreciate.
I appreciate that! and that’s interesting… Hadn’t considered that perspective.
I definitely think the unscripted content is here to stay… the only question is whether or not it will stay on THIS channel. If the unscripted stuff just turns the comments section into a battleground for what they prefer more, then I’ll definitely just start another channel for unscripted stuff.
@@jonnyarnett That's a reasonable take. I'm enjoying the unscripted ones quite a bit as well, though I think having some sort of indicator that they're unscripted would be cool. You're SO good at scripted, heavily researched videos that I sort of assume that every video you put out will be that way. Maybe a separate channel is the way to solve that?
@@jonnyarnett I think you should keep the unscripted stuff for content where you react to something thats happening, and write your stuff for the other types of videos, the reactions seem more genuine this way imo
@@jonnyarnett love the unscripted stuff!! Seperate channel would be good. Then it's clear. I'd subscribe to both and watch all the videos, but then at least I'd know by the notification what is what and the video lists will only have one type of content
I like this style of video alot tbh
As a Wolves fan
This game did nothing but extend the series. Didnt tell me much about what could happen on Sunday eithet way...
GO WOLVES
I think the nuggets should have learned by now to not take the wolves for granted. I still think they’re gonna close it out at home but that’s gonna be the closest contested game of this whole series by far.
Being a Timberwolves fan sounds like crap
@@nobodybelievesunderscores4122
You're not wrong. It def has been for a LONG LONG time
I agree. We've seen many teams get cooked in the playoffs like this and then win the next game. I have no idea who wins this series.
@@nobodybelievesunderscores4122 brother being a MN sports fan is a hard life. Heartbreak everywhere constantly.
Ya for unique games like this a quick raw reaction commentary is good
Yeah, I think its fun because I know we're all itching to converse about it! I appreciate the feedback
I think these breakdowns make you seem more like a real person watching basketball and not just a history nerd, which is why I like this new content. I know this sounds like a backhanded compliment, but I think the duality improves your channel. I'd keep it all on this channel.
Edit: just wanted to add I've been subscribed for the history nerd way before the new content, so I'm a fan of both lol
No offense taken! What you’re saying makes total sense, and I appreciate that feedback :)
I think the same way, i would just say don't abuse of the unscripted content but during this kind of serie it has all its place.
Thank you for all your vids, one of the best talking about Bball 👌🏿
W Edit
That beatdown was so brutal, I felt bad for the Nuggets😭
Yeah, boo hoo, poor champions. Gotta feel sorry for them.
@@nerdzone I was like "Stop! Stop! He's Already Dead! " from the simpsons meme 😂
@@ZuraiLionfunny how you wasn’t saying that shit the last 3 games getting cocky again
@@garymarrow803 I'm not a nuggets fan or minnesota fan so yeah, I'm quiet on this subject
These playoffs have been so unpredictable. Blowout after blowout. That’s one way to deal with the gambling problem I guess. Can’t gamble on players when the teams don’t even play
To me people aren’t talking about that Minnesota crowd enough, they really tried their best to electrify their team and make Denver uncomfortable, which showed through their shooting. Game 7 is not gonna be a blowout though, both teams will be locked in. Denver vs Minnesota/Game 7 = MUST WATCH!
As someone who listens to your videos daily while driving or doing chores, I absolutely love some short videos of you recapping the current game as it gives me a unique perspective and makes me think of other things to look for/pay attention to like the Nuggets questionable doubling tendencies. Keep it up!
Thanks Jonny! This is a cool commentary video with your instant reaction from the game
This game 7 is going to be to define how people talk about joker and ant. If ant has a great game and wins they will call joker an undeserving mvp this year and if joker wins then they will call ant a fraud
I really like the unscripted videos so far, it feels more natural to hear your analysis in this manner.
A balance between scripted and unscripted could really breathe life into the channel! (not that it was stale, but every now and then we stumble on something that levels us up, and I think you've got a great opportunity to fast forward)... and I can't wait for game 7!!
Yeah, I’ve been talking to my editor about it, and we’re trying to figure this whole thing out. I think that’s my initial preference though, is just keep both styles here on the channel, and hopefully the audience won’t mind the frequent changes of pace and tone.
@@jonnyarnett variety is the spice of life. I think people are going to love it. Some might tune in for just one style or the other, but you're growing your audience either way.
It's like a different person when you're unscripted Jonny! Haha this is amazing; we all want more of this!
Edward’s will pave his way to the face of the NBA if he wins against the reigning champs
Hey Jonny! I like how you put it where when both teams absolutely need to win, they find a way to get it done. An underrated part of game 6 for me was that Minnesota crowd, they really tried to make Denver feel uncomfortable and their shooting reflected that. To me, game 7 is finally going to be the game where both teams are locked in, neck and neck and it may come down to the last possession. Still loving the unscripted content as well keep up the good work!
I seriously LOVE it when you just talk without a script. So much more passion and excitement!
Yeah I’d love more of the unscripted videos. If anything like you said you could make a second channel that’s just unscripted, but I’m definitely loving the change of the raw reaction after playoff games.
Love it bro its like what TNT does but by my favorite bball youtuber lol
More like this format Jonny!!!
I agree that this might come back to hurt them. Momentum in sports is huge, and letting your opponent get going is risky.
As long as your unscripted videos are still relatively short, I think it's fine to have them on the same channel.
I like these videos where it just feels like two dudes talking in a barber shop about the game last night. Refreshing and Jonny always has W takes
This is great Jonny. This was a great breakdown of the game like the last one. I'm rockin wit it.
I enjoy both scripted and unscripted 👍 This series is wild! The blow-outs are definitely head scratching, hopefully Game 7 goes down to the wire.
Out side of jokic this whole team looked completely outclassed. 25% shooting when you take jokic out. Jokic needs to do better the the rest of the nuggets need to show up and remember they are professional players not scrubs off the street
This has been the most entertaining post season since probably 2016. When there were two 3-1 comebacks from the conference finals and after
Your pre-planned videos are always great, but these sporadic off-the-cuff videos are also good and a nice change of pace
This unscripted content is really good I think u should keep it in this channel so there’s more variety
Scripted or not, I really like your delivery in this video. There's nothing wrong with the other videos of course. I just like how relaxed and natural you sound on this one. Great work as always!
LOVE these types of videos Jonny!
Awesome video, Jonny! I enjoy the unscripted content. It's cool. You make great points and I like both the scripted and unscripted videos.
Like you, I noticed how inconsistent the Nuggets are and how they thrive more when their backs are against the wall and less so when it's vice versa. I think they will step it up and win Game 7 but I too wonder when it will catch up w/them (especially if they make it to the finals).
Happy Friday :)
It's the experience of Denver vs the renewed confidence of Minnesota, if Minnesota keeps that energy up and denvers back is against the wall game 7 could finally be the brawl we've all been hoping for, no more blowouts I want a fight.
This may have already been said, but I think your unscripted videos work really well because you don't stumble on your words or pad out what you're saying while thinking, it's impressive
I LOVE these unscripted videos. The way you construct your sentences flows so great. Maybe consider doing what rusty buckets did with his two channels.
Love this style a lot. I’d be down for this more often than once in a while
First time commenter (ever), keep this format. You’re great at it. This is the analysis I want to watch when I miss a game.
Thanks!
LOVE the unscripted stuff, especially in the postseason. I think that some fresh commentary a day after a great postseason game is very entertaining would love to see more of this as the NBA playoffs roll on
Loved this style Jonny
I am loving this commentary unscripted videos on the current playoff games. Hope you keep them coming.
Unscripted video channel sounds great
Big fan of just getting your thoughts on games when YOU feel like Jonny! Also I glazed the shit outta Joker after game 5 too 😂
I love the unscripted videos! Please post them way more often and on this channel. Would love to hear your thoughts on the Knicks playoff performance so far
Mike Conley was in the game, they can't double him and let Conley redirect the offense and make plays for them. ANT isn't the primary ball handler and shouldn't be played as one. It goes to show how important a good PG is. Which is why the Suns got swept, they couldn't get a proper PG to facilitate the offense.
Different channel is probably good, but I don’t think I’m gonna watch as much. But who knows? Go for it! You’re a great content creator.
Hell yes, do the mix-in.
Good vids keep doing these
Great Job Jonny!
Rooting for the wolves, but it will be tough! I still hope you do more unscripted, I find it very engaging :3
@4:31 I'm very proud to have upgraded in just a week from "editor" to "buddy" 🤣🤣🤣 glad everyone is liking the different video approach!
I like your unscripted stuff. You flow really well. Maybe add a podcast to your mix, for the unscripted stuff
Loving these unscripted videoes bro keep up the good work!! I was waiting on you to upload this video because last night showed how NBA Twitter, NBA media and NBA Social Media is so finished.
Wolves did a fantastic job in showing that they can win this series with that big win in game 6 which was expected after losing 3 games str8. But my biggest turn off is that how ppl fail to realize the Nuggets literally never showed up for this game and effort was literally non existent compared to what was seen in previous 3 games. Its clearly that the nuggets became a bit complacent after winning those games just like what happened in the lakers series hence they lost the close out game in Los Angeles and decided to close at home. Understandably they can be a bit gassed after putting up 3 monstrous str8 games you couldnt expect Minnesota not to go down with a fight. But what find embarrassing is those ppl in the media and social media mind you the same ones saying Denver was gonna get swept after losing the first two games then changing their mouths when Denver won back 3 str8 on the jump displaying championship level basketball are again jumping on the Wolves bandwagon saying they are destroying Nuggets in game 7 like wtf ??? If I was a Wolves fan i would be glad that my team brought this to a game 7 but the thought of not keeping in mind that after Denver who started the game on a 9-2 literally became complacent after to later lose by 45 points think they are just str8 gonna do that again in a Game 7 on their home court ? Like really ???? Minnesota still doesn't have an answer to Jokic and they have proven that they can neutralize Wolves even when Ant man is putting up MVP numbers. Game 7 is Denvers to lose if they dont show up as a team which is unlikely. Its just so embarrassing that so much plastic nba fans are convinced and lead into a false sense of security that the series is over for Denver after that game 6 by 45. If Denver had lost by like a closer margin i would have been more convinced that Minnesota wins game 7.
I’ll be honest I really like these unscripted videos it shows a lot more personality and fluidity
This defense really is some 90s defense I’m so happy it’s back bro
Sounds like a new mic you got there Jonny. My boy is big time now!
I’d love to hear you chat about the Mavs. Would also follow a separate channel for sure
Yo, just leave these videos for the playoffs, I think it's where they'll shine and also it prevents overdoing them
Been enjoying the unscripted commentary videos!
I love the unscripted videos. Been a sub since high school man I love the videos - I do wanna say one thing tho. The unscripted videos are great because you’re not speaking in the same way with each line. Idk how to explain it but you sound much more “human”.
If you do another channel im definitely subscribing to it! I enjoyed this video
I really love both styles of your content but the unscripted videos are really entertaining
Honestly, I hate this for the Nuggets.(mainly for Jokić) Jokić contributed 22 points 9 boards and only two assists, why is that? Because Jamal Murray and MPJ were playing like they weren’t NBA champs last year and games 3-5 they did. Hate their inconsistency because Jokić is one of the most consistent we’ve ever seen.
They didn’t double ANT because Conley cameback, he was injured for game 5 and this make a big difference !
game 7 is a 50/50 and I hope Nuggets win this.
People always talk about how Jokic and Murray rise in the playoffs, but Murray this series -6ppg and -2apg compared to the regular season is sad to see, as well as the horrific efficiency.
I love unscripted reactions!
Sometimes it's good to let your opponent build confidence. It allows them the opportunity to see how far they can push it, which can lead to mistakes and either cause them to overestimate themselves or underestimate you, and then you go for the killshot.
Live commentary sounds much, much better for you. The live nature of the recording is forcing you to not over-edit your script, and that’s really a positive. The delivery of your voice also sounds much more natural and human. This is just an all around improvement to me.
Some people are naturally prone to blunders in a live setting and they do better scripted. Others are already good in a live format and scripting their ideas just makes them too sterile. You seem like the latter to me.
The real NBA Finals. Whoever wins, fans win. What a series
At the same time, we knew before the season started that THIS would be the best series of the playoffs.
This is the way for content
Yesss loving these unscripted videos
The only thing I know is that I can't wait for the game, and I'm not a fan of either team. So thank you both teams.
I like the unscripted commentary. You can even talk about your favorite Lakers role players too in an unscripted fashion (and how much they meant to you), like Derek Fisher or Shannon Brown or something
Unscripted Jonny isn’t real he can’t hurt you.
Unscripted Jonny:
Your personality comes out in these vids.
The average point differential in this series has been over 21. That is wild for a series that is going to 7 games.
Here's a parallel with another Joker - Novak Djokovic. He's become legendary/notorious for playing five-set matches at big tournaments, even when it's not expected from him. I have a suspicion that he's intentionally drawing out matches for the crowd's sake. He usually starts by dominating the first set, then winning a competitive second, before tightly loosing the third, falling apart in the fourth and coming back dominantly in the fifth. And this has happened on so many occasions over the years that it must be intentional. If Denver and The Joker are doing the same thing, it'll be a tough game for Minnesota on Sunday, though, ideally, I'm expecting an epic fight, and extra time would also be most welcome.
Dude, any content you make I'm going to watch 😅 just be sure to get it in one of these videos, if you do start another channel ❤
Have a great Friday!
Agreed, this game is not an indication of how things will go in Game 7, but it WAS a big confidence booster for the T-Wolves and it certainly impressed me. At this point, I really don't know who should be favored.
oh yeah! if it means more content from you man.. and it's not like the quality is bad.. it's probs even better..
I like script it’s more organized and clear cut
Maybe because I'm more football geared where one game determines elimination vs. a series, but I agree: continually playing on the edge like Denver, you eventually fall over
Love the vid mate. Go Wolves
Reminds me of 2022 Game 5 beatdown Grizzlies gave to the Warriors, then loses the series the next game.
As a Wolves fan, realistically, if we want any chance at winning this game 7 we need AT LEAST 10-15 out both of McDaniels and Naz, and we ESPECIALLY need KAT to stay out of foul trouble so he can guard Jokic. Although the Nuggets shot poorly, our rebounding was a massive part in us winning game 6 last night. For the Nuggets, its just a matter of helping out Jokic by getting their role players shooting decently well and getting Jamal going, because as we've seen in this series and in the Lakers series, he is borderline unstoppable if he's shooting well.
What do you use to record your videos?
Unscripted is nice. This very calm casual not picking a side thing js refreshing.
For this series, I am rooting for TWolves to win this series. Based on my profile picture, I'm a Warriors fan, obviously. My Warriors met Nuggets in the 22, playoffs for 4-1. Honestly, the west was boring then, since at that time, the Warriors, Nuggets, Suns, Jazz they're just owning the west (correct me if I'm wrong), no other teams can match these (ofc include those playoffish teams, and yeah, you have the wild wild west).
Fast forward, the young TWolves, Thunder (mention Grizz too) they are now rising on top. With this, a game 7 win, WCF reminds me of LBJ against the Pistons/finals appeance. For sure, this team (MIN) is way better than Lebron's Cavs, but the thing is the rise of young superstar ANT. Honestly, rookie season of ANT was a bit of underrated in terms of he was not a hyped as top tier elite player (he was slept on). But now, he is putting the league on notice.
Man, I feel bad about Nuggets when they lose this series. But I dont feel bad for TWolces when they lose this series since the FUTURE IS WAY WAY WAY BETTER BRIGHT
Anyone that’s actually being objective really has no idea what might happen game 7. These two teams have been so up and down this series. Gonna be fun Sunday!
Nuggets completely gave up this game from the very beggining. Every single game of this series was decided by the early lead. Any of these teams have capacity to fight back. So when Minnesota started to build a lead in the first quarter and there was absolutely no reaction from Malone you could see where this was going. I suppose they are confident in winning the last game at home.
I think at some point the Nuggets starters realized they had no shot and they decided to save it for game 7. I think this is what you have to do when you're trying to repeat, you gotta save some in the tank to flip the switch.
I hope so. Even then a fucking 45 pt blowout should not have happened in Game 6 of the Playoffs. Jokić gotta show out for the Nuggets if they playin like this Game 7 😭🤦♂️
Forging with fire. Who will win, will be stronger. Game 7!
Ant told everyone why the offense was better and why he wasn’t being doubled like that. Mike Conley, with him playing, Ant was more off ball, he got the ball after a Conley pick and roll on most half court possessions, or some sort of action, so Denver was frequently already in a reacting defense instead of a set defense when Ant got the ball, and were no in a good position to double Ant.
Keep the unscripteds coming!
No bro.
They doubled towns because he loses the ball easy at times, and if you can get to him early in games, and frustrate him, he has a hard time climbing back in mentally.
The rebounds in the wolves favor were mostly due to denver missing 60 shots. Many were open looks. Many were not.
This year's Timberwolves are really great.
I'm very happy to see small market teams getting stronger.
When you get beat 3 games in a row and it looks like a gentleman’s sweep, most would bow out. But obviously there was an adjustment made. Denver will have to make their adjustment if they want to win Game 7.
I noticed how Minnesota killed Denver on double teams. They were making the right passes and those players were hitting on open shots or making the second pass. I believe in the third quarter Denver doubled on the left side and Kat made a skip pass to the opposite corner before Jaden sent it to Rudy for a wide open dunk. They also did a great job doubling Jokic on the other end and rotating to the open man.
I'm pulling for the nuggets, because I've been a fan of the Joker for the last 2 years and I hadn't really watched basketball and 8 or 10 years prior to that so he brought me back into the fold, but I will have to give the props that the Timberwolves deserve if they end up somehow winning game seven, I really don't think they will, but what a beat down. It reminded me of when the Celtics Kraft on Kobe & Company in the finals. I will say this, whoever wins this game will be the champions. I will boldly say Denver. Next year though...I think Denver needs to get either Pascal Siakim or Obi Toppin for KCP and maybe get a deeper bench.
Ok I want the robot back.
Wolves are Denver’s toughest competition so after this it’ll be smooth sailing for them honestly. Assuming they win ofcourse
