Very great idea! But I had to laugh really hard when the gentleman hand sawed & chiseled out all the parts... WHEN HE COULD HAVE JUST USED THE DREMEL! Ha ha ha ha
This machine would have way too much backlash due to the bolts being smaller than the holes (at least in the parallelogram portion). This makes for very inaccurate copying. Tighten it all up and you'd be on your way to a better device.
Awesome pantograph and nice free hand carving. Copying shapes directly from a drawing (no 3D model needed) can also be done on a milling machine with the Caliper2PC's digital pantograph feature.
I think thicknes of woodn frame shld b less or replace some transparent plastic or metals so that we could see diagram/pictur clearly during curvng..its my persnl view..bdw,thnks fr shrng this beautifl ideas
nice work and video i like the idea of using the Drexel as your carver there are so many inexpensive router bits available for them especially now with the nternet i’ve been amazed at how low the accessory kits have become over the last 10 years or so it’s more than half the price you would had paid then sure people will argue that the quality is lower yet my comment is they work so that doesn’t bother me that much
OK, the first carving actually used the pantograph to carve a copy of a drawing, but in the second (with the elephant) what was the point of attaching the Dremel to a cumbersome framework if you were just going to carve directly?
Yeah seriously. I'm guessing it's because it isn't rigid enough to be used properly. The results didn't look very good originally. I bet this would be perfect if made from aluminum or steel, with no backlash in the hardware
Hmm. I thought the whole point of a pantograph was to be able to use a template to make a larger or smaller replica. I can however see the value in making duplicates.
well not exactly correct, but it is designed to NOT have to FREE hand something. The size change is just a about minor changes to where guide point and drawing points are placed on the pantograph, aka bigger or small or same size can be achieved depending on how you set it up.
Do you have plans for one that can do half scale of the original size or even enlarge from the original size....... This is fro scale one to one, meaning the drawing and routing is exactly the same size......
I remember similar mechanisms were on drawing tables, on the lamp and many other places. And now the fucking corrugation that has been bent twice and broken with a fucking grandmother. 👍😁
This is a bit shady. Might as well just draw things on a piece of wood and do it free hand. At least you will be able to see what you are doing and only using a dremmel, I’m not surprised it’s speeded up. 10/10 for effort though and if it works for you then great 👍
Handy if youve got parkinsons...and want your work to look like someone's without parkinsons and a pantograph. Nice try though, but probably could of done the same freehand and saved yourself the hour it took to build.
Methias Wandel has a good video on the construction of a pantograph that is far better than this inaccurate video. So I would strongly suggest that you watch his method of constructing a Pantograph instead.
The whole construction of this pantograph router is totally wrong since the router should be in line with the two pivots points on the arm that holds the router. In order that the router can follow the path of a straight line and not rely on the constant correction of the operator of the machine. Try to follow a straight line from a template and you will end up with a bent line instead of a straight line as you should. I hope that my explanation of this has made it clear since it would take a diagram to show what I mean.
Young DIY the pantograph serves no purpose in the second carving, you could have done that by hand. The pantograph is used to reduce or enlarge from a drawing as you did in the first part. Your second part was an oversized handle which actually blocked your view of the work piece. Nice attempt though with the limited tools used.
You miserable bastard looking at peoples vids and looking for a reason to put down, as someone with disabled hands that couldn't hold the likes of a dremmel for long periods it has inspired me I can do this with this attachment so say sorry or forever hold your shame
NOT how a pantograph works, check other videos, you use it to trace around a pattern ( using the pin you are holding ) and it puts the same pattern on your wood.
Very great idea! But I had to laugh really hard when the gentleman hand sawed & chiseled out all the parts... WHEN HE COULD HAVE JUST USED THE DREMEL!

Any hints, on the sizes and measurments...for making...
Nice
Show de idéia.
What are the dimension for the wood you cut, bit sizes, bolt sizes, etc.
Fantastic
I'm very interested in buying it
super!
I would love to see your videos.
Thank you sir.

exactly i can hold a dremel in my hand and do the same thing without that ....well i will make one that i can trace with and copy at the same time..

Oh my gosh
Perfecto
Impreciso.
GOOD молодец
If someone didn't have these materials so what he will do?
You are supposed to tighten the collet with a spanner...not finger tight

What is the ratio of this machine? is it one on one?

Ya, not much of a pantograph ..... just holds the dremel ..... I could do that elephant by hand
