Had the Bixpy (original J1 model) over 3 years now. This past Feb I sent the motor portion to Bixpy for their refresh package. Check the bearings, seals and overall general breakdown and inspection. I figure I have over 3000 hours on that motor. They found no issues with the motor. The still replaced the bearings, prop, and weed guard and made sure everything was sealed up tight. (good for another 3000 hours) That service cost me $79.00 which included their shipping it back to me. The Bixpy for me helps me get to the locations I want to fish and back to the ramp with less wear and tear on my old body. There are also the days I just want to do a bit of trolling either for striper, hybrids, bass, or long line crappie. I have used it to travel upriver from a ramp then use the current back to the ramp. I load the Shearwater in the bed of my truck if that is the only kayak I'm hauling that day. The remove the rudder / Bixpy unit when traveling as I feel it would put too much strain on the rudder pin while bouncing down the road. On days where I need more than 1 kayak, I have the Right On trailer with overhead rack to transport up to 3 kayaks.
