So happy for Rami! He deserves this so much. I see people make comments about him being a newbie, a one hit wonder, a lip syncer, and it makes me so mad. This man has been laboring away in bit parts and indies and working day jobs to try to break his way into the top levels in Hollywood. He is not a newcomer. He has already won an Emmy and Critics choice award for Mr Robot on television. He has shown he can move effortlessly between TV and movies. He is an incredible talent. Just take a look at all his work and you will see why Tom Hanks, and RDJ are huge fans of Rami. Bradley Cooper is even a fan of Rami. Take a look at Busters Mal Heart. He gave an oscar worthy performance in that indie as well. And for those that say all he did was lip sync in BR you dont know what you are talking about. He had to learn guitar, piano, voice and movement lessons, dialect lessons and hold the production together through lots of adversity. His fellow actors voted this award and they know talent and hard work when they see it. Congratulations Rami and on to the Oscars!

Very well said. i wish all of the trolls on Twitter could read what you wrote. It boils my blood to hear anyone speak negatively about him. i try to just ignore their comments but it's hard and i end up in twitter battles with stupid people. Rami is one of the most genuine, sincere, humble actors we have ever had. He is respected by everyone of his cast mates, the crew and millions of adoring fans for good reason. He's classy, intelligent, well spoken so those trolls just have to find something to pick at. I am crossing everything i can - fingers, toes, eyes hoping he wins the Oscar so they will shut up!! LOL
You are absolutely, 1000% right!! i didn't see A Star is Born so can't compare but i know what Rami did was an extraordinary accomplishment.
i think the critics put A Star is Born on top because of Bradley and Lady Gaga who are a dynamic duo for sure but to portray fictional characters (even if based on Gaga's life) is "easy" compared to what Rami, Joe, Ben and Gwilym did. the idiots on twitter accuse Rami of lip syncing which is totally not true. if they bothered to find out some background on the movie they would know that he did sing. i also see comments saying that the movie did not accurately portray Freddie - "pink washing" as one jerk on twitter called it. Whatever the hell that means. this was the comment from the critics as well because they wanted more focus on his wild, partying lifestyle. They forget that there was more to Freddie than just his stage presence & personality. He was larger than life when performing but off stage he was shy, quiet, funny and fiercely loyal to his loved ones. Rami did a beautiful job portraying that side of Freddie and it's what made me see the film 8 times! it also got me obsessed with Queen - since seeing it the first time, i haven't stopped listening to their music and watching interviews, videos, concerts any opportunity it get. :) I see so much of Freddie in Rami - that underdog, sometimes awkward, shy person but on screen he comes to life. I haven't seen everything he's been in but i was blown away seeing him go from playing Elliot in Mr. Robot to playing Freddie Mercury! that type of actor is so rare - to be able to transition from TV to film that way is just incredible. Rami is also an immigrant, although born in LA; he stands out because of his looks. he's intelligent, articulate, humble, gracious and I honestly think the a*holes on twitter don't know what to make of someone with his style and personality so they immediately criticize. it was the same with Freddie - he was true to himself and didn’t give an F about what people thought and people didn't know how to handle it so they criticized him for his flamboyant style and, of course his lifestyle. So i just try to ignore those a*holes on twitter because BR is the highest grossing biopic of all times, seen by millions and Rami is receiving the recognition he so deserves. Let them swallow that pill! :)

thank you Rami and Queen for bringing Freddie back to us. I was 20 years old when they performed at Live Aid and this movie has brought a new level of fan base that a lot of them were probably born after Freddie passed on. it melts my heart to see how much these younger folks love them as much as us old timers do. You can tell this was a labor of love. Freddie was right, he said he would be a legend and so are you Brian, Roger, John and Rami

I can't remember being so happy for any one artist during award season. Rami Malek is more than a special talent--he's a special human being and I cannot imagine anyone more suited to play Freddie Mercury. Even in old interviews from Mr. Robot and The Pacific, one senses his soulful approach to different roles and his incredibly gracious and generous attitude toward his fellow actors.
Rami is just so awesome and adorable. I am beyond thrilled that he is getting the recognition he deserves! He is a hard working, genuinely kind, humble & sincere person. He's got nothing but respect from his fellow cast mates and the adoration of millions of fans for good reason. Last night at the SAGs he took time on the carpet to shake hands with military personnel that were in the crowd. Now, that's classy!! I am so thrilled for him on this SAG award win! I've never seen an actor so totally immersed in a character and he brought Freddie to the big screen with beauty, honesty and dignity. The film has also left an indelible impact on millions of lives. People are discovering (or rediscovering) this legendary band and it's so wonderful to see. From what i've heard and learned, Freddie Mercury didn't make a big fuss over accolades - he just wanted his music to reach people - so i know he'd be immensely proud of this movie! ❤️👑❤️

When an actor like Rami really breaks out, people who don't know much about them start saying things about them being one hit wonders and whatnot because they have not followed their career and don't know how many years this guy has been working for this. Rami has been at this for a long time and has shown incredible talent and impressed some big names for many years and it shows. I'm so happy for him. I never imagined that this movie would do so well.
