If you have played Rocket League for a long time like I have, there's a good chance you've at least tried each of these mechanics once. So you probably have an opinion on each of them. Today, I share my own and you get to see if yours line up with mine. If you want to see more tier list videos like this, feel free to let me know and share a topic that you would like me to make it on!

Saves being in E tier is a crime against humanity. Saving 3 hard shots in row spidermanning in the goal feels sooo good.
fr wayton missed a lot in this video
This video missed the mark for a lot of these
@Mark Donald flip resets in B tier is awful to me lamo thats s tier if a simple air dribble is S tier
Tru
Makes me wonder if Wayton just sucks at saves. When I make a couple back-to-back saves that I had no business making, it feels better than an air dribble or a solid passing play.
"You can't just mess up a flick and put your name on it and say it's yours"
Athena: 👁️👄👁️
Same with musty lol
Athena didnt name her flick, her community did
I mean he said at the start that he is right and ur wrong lol
@@bobbobberson5371 thats not the same, a musty flick is a mechanic where as an athena flick is just missing the shot

The hardest known mechanic to hit

Yet the hardest one
Half-Flips out here feeling like that kid that got picked last for kickball

why do you hate actually good players. Just because you're bronze doesn't mean you can bully high ranked players
im gold, i love the mechanic "get past your opponent and slowly push the ball forward without boost because you can't conserve it and have the opponent easily get back and save it only for you to whif and him score." It really makes for some interesting gameplay

I agree with everything except saves, a good save is extremely satisfying and a lot of players undervalue them too much
2:57 do it it sounds like a fun tier list!
I disagree with one placement: saves. Though these are often forgotten and almost never saved as a replay, they quite literally change the outcome of games constantly. Being solid at defence is extremely beneficial competitively, and can even play a part in the downfall of the opposing team. Otherwise, I agree 100% with the rest of these!
People save goal replays more often because they are things that they can do consistently, saves are luck, and skill too (Getting there) but luck in how you did them
This list isn’t really about how useful it is but more about how good it looks
The best mechanic is obviously the jump.
boosting is also one of the best mechanics
@@roofash204 i prefer the driving mechanic
@@Claricio i prefer the mechanic where you open the game. its truly one of the best.
@@roofash204 true… can’t win without it. Absolutely essential
I think it's hitting the ball
I don’t need this video, I already know that the Athena flick is the best.
Deep inside we all know the best mechanic is Athena Flick.
Funny how at the exact start he says you can’t fail a flick and put your name on it, that’s gonna trigger Athena fans lmao
Wayton: You cant just mess up to make a mechanic and put your name on it
Athena: I wish
My favorite mechanic is when the ball is in the corner and me and the opponent both just awkwardly nudge it around slowly - both without boost - until it gently rolls past one person who tries to back up and ends up rolling it 5mph to their own goal. A classic
Wayton: *ranks speedflips at b because of how useful they are in game*
also Wayton: *puts saves at e*
Wayton:“It’s really hard to make a redirect look good”
No flippers: 👁 👄 👁
I personally think that demos are great when used in cool and interesting ways like airdribble demos and flicking it and then demoing before the save and such. The only time demos are bad is when the player doesn’t even think about going for the ball once, and just spawn demos. That kind of player is what gave demoing a bad name.
Great vid! Although I know it might seem redundant being that you included wave dashes, I think another mechanic to talk about would be recovering and different recoveries in general. Being able to recover your car in awkward positions and get right back into a save/shot/pass is pretty satisfying and with new recovery mechanics being discovered like corner dashes and landing wave dashes there’s still a high skill cap for being able to always recover and keep momentum in RL.
Recoveries.
Keeps up your speed, and is a great way to practice car control, laying groundwork for other mechanics.
All of those rating were pefect wayton. Thanks for the content:)
Ive stumbled on a new certain kickoff. If the cars are next to eachother in the middle lane. 1 has to start and the other needs to bump him from behind. If the timing is right you will end up way faster than your opponement.
Unfortunately it's not new. Hoops mains use it more than people in standard RL because it's super inconsistent. I did it one time and was super stoked thinking I found a new mechanic but my brother informed me of this fact.
@@isaacstone5891 ahh i knew i wasnt the only one. Well maybe if you practice it enough or if your in a pro team, maybe then it would be possible
Right there with you on saves. The only saves I've kept as replays lately are back to backs or something like that. But even then I usually think "if the first one was better, the second one wouldn't have been needed"
Wavedashes in C? A mechanic everyone at or above GC or even Champ is constantly using throughout every single game to recover, preserve momentum and sometimes outplay? K then
Yeah, best and useful is a difference. Its helpful af but doesn't look special so its not the best, just one of a few useful basic ones
Ig people just dont understand the beauty of seeing a double dash send the ball flaming into top bin smh. Wavedashes are powerful af but they are kind of an auxiliary mechanic.
@@devinsimmons2100 exactly
wayton, u deserve to be up there in subs with musty. some people make tier lists boring; just talking about them, but you take a lot of time with the editing and i love that.
Great video Wayton!
good breakdown. I think you categorized everything appropriately. Good job!
THAT EDITING THOUGH!!!
It looks amazing. Great 👏 job 👏 👏 👏
I agree on everything exept for where you put saves. Saves deserve better.
I am too old to get this excited when I see Wayton post a new CZcams Video. Oh well.....is what it is.
Just like ur name gamer lol
Speed flip: I use this all the time and it is useful, C tier.
Saves: I don't save clips of them hardly ever, E tier.
Seems legit
Im gettin really good at those wayton flicks
The deop down catch is what i called the phantom shot or phantum touch
For the demo one, I have opponents who try to demo me and it messes up their rotations meaning goals for my team. I had an enemy in 1s today who did this dribble demo strategy and everytime he tried it i scored a goal. When enemies do succeed in a demo, demos are so annoying and you go to a random side on your half (rng)
6:05 I love how calm music is playing in the background
Open nets are S tier when I hit them I'm surprised and at awe that I didnt miss.
we need to see that flick tier list btw love your content and keep up the good work.
Bro Wayton!!!!! Ceiling shots deserve S tier!!!

And yes I am the one making this play. And yes I am flexing on you. And yes I am putting it in S tier. And yes I am on to the next mechanic. -Waytoney 2021
I'm C2 in 2s. Decided to try learning flip resets. Fairly inconsistent with it in training. But I feel it's definitely helping with my airiel control and set-ups more, adds something else to try in game, and looks threatening.
Wayton I was put in the video! What i'm meaning is when you referenced yourself from 2017 when you hit a redirect, I was on your team, and obviously you know that xD
I love the way he treats demos
Air dribbles are probably competitively S tier as well. Very versatile and gets you strong ball control. If the opponent wants to stop you before the net they have to commit hard, and if they dont you have lots of options to keep your scoring opportunities varied
I like speed flips the most.
...mainly because I'm in sliver 2 and they're the only mechanic I know how to do.
saves deserve better rating because arial save to an own post save to a wall jump save is the most satisfying thing
real good video buddy! I agree with all but PINCHES, you forgot how important they are to DEFEND for example if you and your team is on low boost. keep up the good work and thanks!
Yo, you by far have the best tips. I watched your video of fast jumping and airel, and I went from Plat one to Daimond 1 div 2 after watching the video on Friday.
Nice!
I agree with all the skill rankings except one. Saves.. They are extremely underrated as it can be the difference between ranking up and down.. They can look cool when it's seconds left in a close game and with only a second to react u hurl your frame and tip it onto the bar or it comes back out off the post.. It's the same adrenaline as scoring a cool flick
You said you could make a whole tier list just for flicks, so will you? Awesome vid idea imo
Wayton: Double taps are the most satisfying thing to watch.
Me: Do u know how many times I've told that to myself?
speedflips definitely should be in s tier just because they are so usefull and if you can do them, as you said, you can use them for every aspect of the game
The great thing about the game is that it doesn’t end there, there are combinations too (pinch passes, ceiling double taps, etc.). Feels like the possibilities are endless
Fast aerial is the only misplaced one in my opinion, as it is one of the earliest, most essential and most used mechanics in the game. You'll use it more than any other mechanic in the game.... I mean you have to imagine "How many games would I win or be viable in without this mechanics?", without fast aerials that puts you out of all game play plat or above.
With those arguments, I must say, I think "Fast Aerial is S tier"
I’ve done that ceiling swerving thing by accident across the whole map
Wayton: Redirects arent the best shots fron Pros
Justin: Hold my most legendary goal
The only thing that i would say my opinion is the opposite of wayton's is saves they just look so cool and i would spend my whole day watching a montage of them
Wayton=GOAT
Stalls are crazy in sideswipe though XD
This list is D tier
Yes it does feel good to do that
When you think of wavedashes, do you think of the regular one or the one where you get the flip reset on it?
Half flip is crying rn
The only things I would have to disagree with are demos and saves. Sure playing against a demo knight means their rotation is messed up and we win, nut being constantly targeted and killed causing me to reset is just annoying so maybe C or D. Saves should be A tier they are a core mechanic and there can actually be amazing saves like off the way aerials, muffin saves, dribbles saves and more. Just my opinions as a Champ 3.
Didn’t expect a bad tier list from Wayton
Wayton: makes a vid about wave dashes are gonna replace flips in the future and be the meta for 2021
Also Wayton: Puts wave dashes in C tier
Wave dashes are s tier no question. Double dash shots get so much power and look amazing
Psycho's double redirect was amazing
saves are what makes or breaks a match. if you can't save you are more likely to lose. opposed to most other mechanics
New Title: which mechanics are my favorite and look cool.
I remember doing my first air dribble with double tap in platinum 3! Im kinda stuck at this rank because my teammates suck... i can do now normally some air dribbles and ceiling shots..
Double tap clean
As a platinum, this tier list upsets me lol
Explain?
As an inconsistent Diamond, I find this list accurate.
@@sugaryship3655 it’s just different mindsets I guess. When your higher up you see things differently, in my tearlist some of the lower things would be much higher, and some of the higher things would be lower
@@micyoz5283 true,
For instance can you rate flip reset, ceiling shot, and flicks?
@@sugaryship3655 C, A, and B
A couple things. 1. JZR is about as consistent a pincher as there is and hits them about 1 out of every 3 tries. If you want to see a master, he’s always my go to. 2. Would you consider a preflip redirect to be it’s own mechanic? Virge in particular comes to mind with this. The speed he gets with his preflip redirects is actually nuts. If I had a single correction to add it would be maybe considering this as a different mechanic. Oh you left out pancakes, which is fine, just wish I could have seen it next to chain resets. I haven’t seen an actual Ganer clip in over a year and a half. I guess even he got tired of them. Great video as always. 🤝
3:42 "You can't showcase that much skill with just one single touch on the ball"
*Ahmad has entered the chat*
Agree on pretty much all of them. But saves? Sure, you don't clip it, but is there anything more fun than denying goal after goal after goal and witnessing how shots become more ferocious, the other team more aggressive just in order to get that damn ball past you?
I would switch saves and flip resets but other than that really good tier list
You should see the Saves Mechanics by Flakes, in the final for Mine Salt tournament last year against Okhalid he saved multiple air dribble bump plays with a perfect saving technique, I know this list is kind of your opinion but I like your content and I am aware nobody can be aware of everything, so that might shine a light on you.
Wayton: pinches are mostly the same thing, it’s just a pinch
Pulse fire has entered the game
I wanna look like that guy. Saves as mechanic. no. but the importance you put on it for every player. accurate.
This went from best mechanic to coolest mechanic list
it’s really just his favorite mechanics
Squishy save into a floor pinch for a goal, thats the last save I clipped lol. if saves are also sick goals ill clip them, like me and my buddy both failing to save the ball in hoops but us together failing to save turned into a nasty team pinch that went in lol.. my point is that some saves are worth clipping, other then that i agree with that entire list thru and thru
"there are few grand champs who think a redirect is the best shot they hit"
Al0t :
Agreeeeed wayton aaagreeeeed
OMG IM HERE EARLY!!! thanks for making such great content wayton!
Fast aerials are S++ since they’re the main reasons u can get to the ball faster as they freakin help u rank up from gold into diamond especially
that ending was god tier
Your list is good and really understanderble,im not sure if "understanderble" is even a word lmao
I made a youtube video where I came up with a sort of "mechanic" but what it is is that you turn real quick, allowing you to save the ball even if you started off behind the ball.
it combines a wavedash with a flip cancel
Ahh the open net, the only mechanic I have mastered
Your ability to make videos: god-tier.
So I just hit plat and I'm really trying to take the right route by not only focusing on air dribbles and flip resets. Instead, I'm learning to ground dribble but Idk what the best thing to learn right now is. What rank you you think just basic dribbles would go in. I've been working a lot on shooting, power shots, rotations, and wave dashes/recoveries too so yeah.
Bro chain resets are so satisfying
Saves are S tier, because when your half field and boost to your goal, go up the wall, keep your seep with powerslide, preflip pinch the ball from your post into the enemy net. Feels amazing😂
