THE WHO's "Won't Get Fooled Again" for the movie "The Kids Are Allright" was good too.....and just about any FOGHAT tune, they sound Awesome live! Seen them 3 times over the decades.
Kenny Jones makes it sound like seven different dudes hittin the licks, really amazing. I forward this to friends and they sudenly start listening to all of the really old Faces and Rod Stewart stuff.
They need another "Thumbs-up" icon that says "I Love This" instead of just "l Like This" It has it all, a young Rod Stewart, a rare video of Ron Wood before he went on to become one of "The Rolling Stones"! A great drum solo, great live guitar playing, and a rock song that is a MUST SEE video!!!!!!!!!!!! I added this to my Great Rock Songs play-list!
This is good old fashioned rock and roll !!! Notice how the band lets everyone guitar, bass, drums and singer develope and allows space in the song. Incredible!!
Wow! Rod Stewart, Ron Wood on guitar, Ian McLagan on keyboards, Ronnie Lane on bass guitar, and Kenney Jones on drums were the Faces. They were the most successful Brit band from 71 to 75. Amazing vid! TFP.
Hes great. But his guitar always seems to get buried. Wish he would have used that fatter Gibson sound . Even Richard's sounded better on Gibson. Could never imagine Taylor sounding as good on a strat. Hendrix strategy was set up like a different guitar. Popular Mechanics had a scientific article why Jimis Guitar was unique sounding.
Absolutely fantastic ,what an incredible band and performance ,Rod Stewart was such a great singer and I think all the work he did with The Faces was outstanding . Kenny Jones ,what a great drummer ,but Wood ,Laine and Mclaglan are all such brilliant musicians ,such a shame they didn't stay together for a while longer .RIP dear Laine and Mclaglan.
I love Jonesy, dearly. In a sense he taught me how to play drums, but The Who didn't work for him. Required a different kind of drummer. Saw them in Seattle in 1982. The Faces were much better suited to how he plays. Listen to the records and you'll see what I mean.
@@DeanMk1 - to be fair, Kenny was much more technical than the Who required - I can't really think of anyone who could/can play in the style like Moon.
@@twstrgmailcom Could be true (we never got to see how much of a technician Moon really was), but The Who required a different approach than The Faces did. We all work within a certain "area" (do not read that as "genre"). A select few work equally well in all areas. We are, what we are. Simple as that.
I always get the impression that Rod, when he sings a sad song, a song about pain and loss; like this one, that he laughs and jokes to keep from crying. If you listen without watching this impression is magnified. So much emotion. Oh to see them live...
In my opinion, Rod's performance here makes up for any criticism he receives for what he'd done after leaving the Faces. This version has to be considered as one of the best anywhere. Not to mention Woody's awesome sound and Lane's great driving bass. Epic, awesome, classic, whatever you call it - its great! Thanks for the posting.
I've heard this song ever since I was little when it came out, but I never really heard the genius of Ronnie Lane's bass playing. He is an amazing bass player. I absolutely LOVE the tone he gets from his rig. I'd like to know what he's running. But beyond that, his note choices and general funkiness is just amazing and I'm sorry I never paid that much attention to it earlier in life. I really missed out.
We arrived at the Long Beach Arena late on July 30, 1971, being underage for driving ourselves. My and a friend were dropped-off by my sister, having missed Deep Purple's set. But when the Faces started playing, we were in heaven, and only 15 years old at the time we were!! I saw many of the UK bands that came through Los Angeles during the 1971-1973 era, and the Faces were the most FUN. We were sober too, which was unusual for me - in the future I would be taking LSD for most concerts, and always cannabis - not much of a drinker or heavy drug user at the time. Unfortunately, cannabis became difficult to find, and hard drugs were everywhere, so cocaine and opioids destroyed my life. I'm recovered now, however, all thanks to God, but I still love listening to Faces.......!

They make it all look so pure, like they were born for just this moment. Oh, and that crescendo starting about 6:45. Whew!
Remember when bands could play? Back in the day The Faces were just one of several. But this band here would smoke any rock band of today by a million million miles!!!!

Kenny Jones who joined the Who after Keith Moon die, good band Ronnie Wood Rod singing wish they stuck together for awhile ...
Kenny was definitely feeling it!
Love the intro on this. Ron Wood absolutely smashes it!
The whole album " Every Picture Tells a Story" was phenomenal!

The bloody Faces ... saw them in San Jose CA in the early 70's. As English as you can get. And they kicked ass. Thanks for the reminder...
Being English they kicked arse
Deserve more thumbs up👍

Rod Stewart is Scottish but grew up in England
awesome... a real live performance
no overdubbing no lip syncing, just 5 guys and a ton of talent and hard work.

Maybe not the “most successful” Brit band, but definitely, the best Brit band. How about Kenney Jones’ drum solo! And not a hair out of place.
For people born after 1980 who wonder what the big deal about Rod Stewart is.
Thank you for saying that - so sick of seeing bad commentary on Rod from that age group who don’t understand why he is a legend.
Aye, there's a scoop that might dictate Rod.
Absolutely Cad Anson.
You mean Sir Roderick Davis Stewart CBE who sold 100 million records? Oh gee let's see - how much time to you have??
I was born after 1980 and I’ve known about him for most of my life because I was raised right.
