- My guitar cover of Acrobat by U2 - my number one song that I would want to hear live, just like 99% of U2 fans, I guess. But most likely we never will. Gibson Les Paul Studio Pro - KORG A2 - VOX AC15C1 - SHURE SM57

Everyone wants to hear it because its never been done...LOL. You just know the Edges deep heavy distorted tone on this live would be insane.
Yes, we all want to hear it live. If I can somehow do it, I am sure The Edge can do it 100 times better. So I don't really get it. They play the iHeart festival in about half an hour, maybe this time... :-)
HappyStrat24 Its not a matter of can he. My only thought is when the day finally comes what will he do with it. As i'm sure you already know U2 studio records are luke warm at best and most of their songs are not really completed until they perform them live. A good example would be Love Is Blindness. LiB wasn't finished on the album. I'm still trying to figure out the drowning note thing in the mid-section of the recording, was it a mistake? The live version of the song just blows the album away.
Yeap, good thoughts. It is just that the "official excuse" the U2 themselves give is they are not able to play Acrobat live. The song is no rocket science. It is a fantastic song that can be done live and it is a shame that it never got the chance to evolve live, as you described.
HappyStrat24 Yeah, I don't believe any official whatever for exactly what you said. They now have a very expanded song list and are minus one guitar player (Bono, hand injury) so I doubt it will make it into any future play list. My hope is 20 years from now someone will produce a U2 version of "Across The Universe" type movie. Maybe U2 themselves will do it. They defiantly have the material.

This song appeared on U2's 1991 album "Achtung Baby", but it was written - or rather jammed out - two years earlier during a soundcheck before a large gig U2 played in New Zealand on the "Lovetown tour". That tour took in Australia and New Zealand and a handful of shows in Europe during 1989. If you listen to the basic song it sounds like a jam session between a guitarist, bass player and drummer - because that is what it was, that was how the song was born.

Thanks a lot! Yeah, my cover is a proof that anyone can play this song and that the official excuses make no sense. Of course U2 can pull it off and make it a highlight of their show. I hope it happens one day. Most likely not on The Joshua Tree Tour though :-)

I've seen them playing in Rome, '93, Zooropa tour, less than two meters from me. The best concert ever. Pearl jam opened the show.

Imho, Edge's best solo in all of U2's vast collection. I have no idea why they leave this song out of their live sets. You just proved it can be done and it's not all studio magic. Fantastic job!!

That is strange, I have no problem with it. CZcams sometimes blocks it on mobile devices for instance, or in some countries actually. But if it only wrote you "video not avaliable " without any further explanation, maybe it was just a temporary mistake.
