Rachel's English [ASK❤️] Hi Rachel, here i've got a quick question:Why don't we pronounce 'to' as '/də/'? Because we had another video 'How to Pronounce the Word TO' before,it says:Use /tə/ after a word ending in /t/;Can use /də/ all other times, according to that,in this video, 'to' is after 'possible',which is not ending in /t/,so it seems like we should pronounce 'to' here as '/də/'.So Rachel, may I have ur idea?what do you think of it?Thanks a lot!Love u!❤️❤️❤️❤️

It's so important to be able to pick up on all of the subtleties of speech including stress, rhythm, intonation, reduction, assimilation and so many other aspects. It really is incredible. Not until we learn another language or try to teach a foreigner to speak our language do we begin to become aware of the complexity involved.

These are great videos. I upload 'John's Word of the Day' videos almost daily, and as an American I am always looking to improve my English speaking skills. It is an ongoing process, as I tend to fall into bad habits.

    There's also “p(h)ossible”, “music(h)ality of the speech”.
And interesting thing: a glottal stop instead of [t]: “in the entire sen-'ence” at 4:14 or “halfway through one sen-'ence” at 4:42.

One thing that is rarely mentioned: o's often have a bit of an "ah" sound to them, like in "a lot" (in contrast to British English for example). A's have something similar going on being nudged towards an "e" and "e"s are closer to an "i" like in "it" so than Americans saying "n" sometimes sounds a bit like "in"
