  • I have been inspired watching all of your videos and would love to show you what I have made. I use old books for my covers, and bind them with the bind it all. I make smash books, junk journals, and I've made a few mini albums.

    I think I'm binge watching you backwards...nice intro. I am enjoying each and every video. I got interested in all this journaling seeing an "altered book" made by a friend...but I've yet to do a journal of own.

      Hi, Susan. Thank you. I use a Zutter Bind-It-All. I found it on line several years ago. Others use a similar machine called the Cinch. You can watch videos comparing the 2. i love my zutter. Thanks for watching.

    Selling them. Now there's a thought. I'm disabled, can't work, so that would be a great way for me to make a little pocket change. How much does the average smash book go for? Thanks for sharing!

    • @DianeHubertPrettyPinkCottage
      @DianeHubertPrettyPinkCottage  Před 10 lety +1

      Depending on the size of the book and how much work I put into it (making pockets and decorations, etc.) I sell mine from $15 -$35. Good luck.

      I used a Zutter Bind it All "machine'. In fact, I am starting work on some simple journals and I will be using the wire binding, and showing how to do it. So keep watching my channel!

    What type of glue or adhesive do you use? What do you find to be more durable, especially on the covers?

    • @DianeHubertPrettyPinkCottage
      @DianeHubertPrettyPinkCottage  Před 9 lety

      Susana Okada Thanks for watching my video, and for inquiring. After some trial and error, I have settled on several adhesives. For the covers, I use a good glue stick to glue the paper to the front of the cover, but for security, I use a red line tape to fold the paper over to the back and adhere it. I also use the red tape to adhere the end papers onto the inside covers, although sometimes the
      ATG tape runner is sufficient for that. Anytime I want extra security, like for pockets or heavier papers, I use either the red tape or the ATG. In case you don't know, what I call the red line tape, is on a roll that looks red, but when you peel off the red backing, the tape is clear. ATG is the Scotch brand Advanced Tape Glider large pink gun with tape rolls, However, lately I am having trouble finding refills for it. For wet glues, I like Scotch quick dry adhesive. I hope this helps.

      Thank you for all the information. I'm just now trying smash books but in the past I did discover the red line tape. I'm always curious as to what other crafters use. I also love the ideas and inspiration of the videos.

      I have made books for others. Usually I just make them and put them in a shop to sell, but I have had people order specific themes.
