@David Holland I always saw KISS as kind of superhero guys when I was a boy as well. Especially upon seeing the "Love Gun" album cover. I still think that is one of the best album covers of all time. Then, my brother and I watched "KISS Meets the Phantom " and we were blown away. Sure, the movie sucks by adult standards but to comic book reading boys that were 9 and 7 years old that movie was cool !!!
Oh God, I remember that Kiss TV commercial from the late 70's! The jingle is burned into my brain! I've got 3 full sets now as a collector, but without the original boxes, which are very difficult to find. As for the recent reissues, all I can find are the Gene and Paul figures, of which there seems to be plenty out there. I haven't seen any Peter or Ace figures anywhere.
We have the original "Skinny" version which never saw a Peter Criss made for since they changed to the all plastic "Muscle" body version before he was made. We also have the "Muscle" versions and had instruments made for them that are wood and very detailed, the bass and guitars even have tiny Fender pics for them to hold. I'm very proud of this collection being a kid in the 70s when they and the movie "Kiss Meets The Phantom Of The Park' came out.
I loved this commentary of the Kiss Mego dolls. I wanted to add that years and years ago (pre-internet days) I heard that Peter Criss was upset by the first run of Kiss Megos for his doll being too skinny which is why the company had to go back and make new muscular versions. The more collectable ones are the skinny Kiss megos, whereas the most common ones are the Kiss muscular versions, which are the second production run. I heard this from one of my friend's uncles, who had been a huge Kiss fan during their heyday in the mid-late 70's and he had almost everything. His advice stuck with me all these years yet unfortunately he lost nearly his entire Kiss collection when his basement flooded in 1990. The same time my friend introduced me to him. He had three sets of each Mego Kiss doll and he kept his room like a museum he told me. He managed to give me what he salvaged; three Don Russ Ace Frehley trading cards that I cherished greatly! One Peter Criss song book, and two reprinted early Kiss posters from an issue of Guitar magazine. I'll never forget his kindness nor his generosity and the repertoire we formed. 😊

I just found them in their box's. Paul's box is in bad shape but the Paul figure is very good but the not so . Thier still attached to the card in the box .
I got mine! All of them.. the originals. But I got mine at Children's Palace in the 70's.. To buy at that time? My grandparents paid $150 per Mego Kiss figure....Mine are now out of the box. I put them in the living room on a display shelf but was just offered $1500 per figure.. no joke.. And that's out of the box.. We I'm 46 and I'm through trying to be cool so...the best band of the 70s was the Bay City Rollers. There I said it, when I was a kid, you said you loved KISS or the older guys beat you up.
when i was in school we had a kiss table....if you didn't like kiss you couldn't sit at our table....the rollers were pretty big back then...that drummer..Derek longmuir i think i got his name right...had to be the most happiest person on the planet....or he really loved his job.... i have never seen anybody smile like that while performing....lol

i picked up all 4 Kiss dolls back in the day and still have them today. they are one of my most treasured items in my collection.
