  • This video will show you how to replace the transmission filter and fluid in a Dodge Journey with the 62TE automatic transmission. This should cover the 2009-2020 Dodge Journeys and also the 2011-2015 Fiat Freemont. This same transmission was also used in various years of the Chrysler Town & Country as well so the procedure should be very similar. Listed below are links to the filter and fluid and also the aftermarket dipstick as well.

    I just changed the rocker arms on my 2015 3.6 it's alot easier than alot of people think. If you have that dreaded tick take care of it right away. I was dumb and waited and it eventually turned into a very loud tick when I would accelerate. And 3 rocker arms were bad and one ate Into my cam lobe.

    To all it may concern, dont waist money buying the dorman dip stick.Instead take your oil dip stick and measure from the bottom up 2 1/16" draw a line with a Sharpie that line is your new transmission full line keeping your tranny fluid between the just be low the top of the full oil line and your sharpie line is your safe mark for the tranny. Again 2 -1/16 from the bottom of the oil dip stick up is your new tranny full line. I knotched mine by just nicking the stick with a drummel you can even just use a Sharp punch and put a small dot there, and yes you can buy a new pan with the drain plug.For the record for a dirty as that fluid was I think you may have waisted your money on the new fluid and filter...

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE

      How old it the transmission and how many miles is on it? Have you noticed any drips on the ground or signs that it’s leaking? When was the last time the fluid and filter was replaced? Does yours have the dipstick to where you can check the level? A filter and fluid change is probably where I would start if your fluid level is good that will be your cheapest option at the moment. I’m wandering if your filter screen is clogged creating low pressure. If not you may have an issue with the pump.

There’s a graph you can reference if you want to check it at a cooler temperature if day after the servicing. Just let it run for a few minutes after starting it and shifting it throughout the gears before leaving it in neutral.

You may want to also look at your rear differential if it’s an awd model to make sure it’s not leaking any gear oil because I’ve seen where the rear end looses fluid and then overheats making the rear end lock up not allowing the vehicle to move.

    Why does the Internet say 9 quarts of transmission fluid well to be exact 9.5 words of transmission

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  Před 10 měsíci +1

      That is the total quarts it would take if it was dry or brand new, when you do just a pan drop and filter change there’s still a lot of fluid that stays in the transmission.

      @@BLUECOLLARGARAGE would you know how to get all of it out because I need to haven’t changed my transmission fluid in like two years

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@christopherlong5270 only way to get it all out would be to have a shop do a flush on it but most manufacturers don’t recommend that. Your best bet would be to do a drain and filter change fill with new fluid and run it for a day or two then do just a drain and refill with new fluid that should get most of the old out and fresh fluid through the whole system.

    How much quarts you put on total sir? 5.5? Or 4.5? Thanks!

  • @cesarrobertomendizabal760

    That is not the correct flushing method. That transmission contains about 9 cuarts of ATF. The changing of filter he did is ok

    • @BLUECOLLARGARAGE
      @BLUECOLLARGARAGE  Před rokem +13

      First of all I didn’t do a flush I did a drain and refill with a filter replacement. 2nd 9 qts is the total capacity of the transmission if it was bone dry. 3rd when you just do a drain and filter replacement you don’t get all the fluid out of the transmission plus you have different variables such as how long you let the transmission drip into the drain pan and temperature of the fluid when your draining it because atf expands with heat. 4th that’s why you always measure how much came out initially so you don’t overfill it and use a dipstick and the temperature chart provided with it. 5th so the amount of atf I put back in was correct.
