    Thanks for this. I’ve been using 4.2 and tried actual rates today when you mentioned it in the last video. Now I feel like I can finally dial in my rates because I couldn’t understand the bf rates for the life of me since I started a year ago. This will be much easier to remember and understand once I find my rate and set it to other quads.

    I use actual rates and love it. I’ve progressed so much after switching. 10 on center 900 max rate pitch and roll 700 on yaw and .20 on expo just a nice smooth responsive but not twitchy setup I fell in love with actual rates because they just get you where you need to be.

    Thanks for explaining this and providing a link to the calculator. When I purchased my DJI FPV Drone I was a bit lost on setting up the rates because they are Actual Rates and I messed with it for quite some time until I figured it out. I do like the fact you can change the overall rate without changing the stick feel 🍍

    I tried actual rates on my toothpick, I haven't flown it outdoors much but my KISS 5" is down right now. My normal BF/KISS rates are 1.15/.6/0 on all axis resulting in 575°. On Actual I started out with 200/570/0 and noted that Actual only uses steps of 10 for center/max. Like I said I haven't flown this TP much so I couldn't really tell plus I was testing my 4.1 tune on 4.2. Using the Desmos calculator I found that the only way to get the actual curves identical to BF on Actual was to go 230/570/.4. I have 4 rate profiles setup with Actual 200/570/0, Actual 230/570/.4 and KISS/BF 1.115/.6/0 Going to test today to see which I like better or if I can even tell.

  • @mickeymch876
    @mickeymch876 Před rokem

    I think there is a way to set up multiple rate settings on Betaflight that can be changed with a switch but I'm kind of lazy and don't feel like learning how to do it. Instead I set Betaflight actual rates (on cyclic axes) to a linear curve with no expo. I don't change the throttle, I always use a linear curve for throttle. Then I set up two 3 position switches on the transmitter with rates and expo that I set up in the transmitter. One switch I have 3 expo settings, the other 3 position switch I have 3 rate positions (1000 deg/sec, 700 deg/sec and 600 deg/sec). This way if someone who is use to those short throw game controller looking transmitters uses or tries my transmitter in the field they usually can find a setting they are comfortable with. Also if necessary I can always adjust it in the radio so the sticks are more or less aggressive. It's also nice that I can change the settings while the quad is in the air. I also set the transmitter so it plays an auditable track when any switch is moved so I don't have to look at the transmitter when changing settings.

  • @flaparoundfpv8632

    I like Betaflight rates because they're intuitive. Its a third order polynomial. You got rate for the first order, expo for the 2nd ("exponential" = x^2), and super is the third order. Thats three regions of the curve.

      It sounds like you need to put the FC in bootloader mode. There should be a button to press or pads to short. Hold the button down as you plug in your USB, and then go to the Flashing tab in Betaflight.
