- Consider this video a starting point to the conversation to the lore about our new Daedric Prince, Ithelia, who will be making her debut appearance when Gold Road drops in early June '24. As a long-time lore nerd, I'm thrilled, but wow, is there a lot to go over. I'm expecting at least a couple more videos in this series before I'm through it all.

Awesome video. Love these lore related showcases as they hit close to one of the reasons why I love this game; just so much to it. I find it pretty funny that most of Tamriel sees her as "good" when she literally enslaves her supplicants... 😅
As for Ithelia... I for one welcome our Daedric -Overlord- Prince of Paths. 🎉FREE WILL BABY!!! 🎉
Yeah, Meridia's ruthless, but she seems to consistently be on the side of protecting Nirn. My impression is that she's a general w/a war to win and uses her tools/pawns/mortals as she needs to. It's hard to assign good & bad to daedra.
I'm working on part 2 of the Ithelia lore series now, and... her version of free will is highly problematic, unfortunately. Yet she also doesn't seem to relish destruction, either. No easy answers.
@@Tamriel_Tidbits Yeah, but the ambiguity _is_ a big part of what makes Daedra so interesting. 😁

Daedra don't really fall under the mortal perception of good or evil, they simply are.
Good point. "Good and evil" then, are a matter of perspective - are the mortals harmed by the Prince's action or not? It always comes back to perspective w/Elder Scrolls lore.

Man, those Boethra books... tbh, woulda had this vid up way earlier, but first I had to spend a few weeks staring at those pages and wondering how many steps I could take before I was COMPLETELY over my head, lol. Is, like, *anyone* "solid" on creation lore? If you know that person - please send them my way. :D

It really is - so much involved. Dense and super intriguing... I'm nowhere near done unpacking it all, lol.
They've adapted Sophia and the Demiurge for ESO as Ithelia and Mora.
There's a lot of Gnosticism in TES lore, but that particular philosophy isn't my strong suit. I missed the Ithelia/Sophia comparison, and it's fabulous. Thank you! I'll have to read up on Sophia... in between getting the next video out. :)
Wouldn't forcing everyone to forget Ithelia be actually against the coldharbor compact?
Wow, interesting. Had to stop and think about that for a day.
As I understand it, the Compact prevents the Princes from appearing on Nirn, but not from affecting it. Cultists of all stripes run around doing their masters' bidding, and that's w/in bounds... so probably not against the actual terms, but definitely violates the, uh, "spirit" of the agreement.

Not against a Prince that was never bound by that contract, even so, Mora doesn't need to invade Nirn to mess with mortal memories

Personally, I’m on the fence about the addition of Ithelia - she feels very OP? Or maybe I’m just desensitized to the other Princes because I’ve interacted with them for years 😂

"Tidbits" is in the channel name b/c how I feel the lore is built - a bit here, a bit there, put them all together and it's extraordinary storytelling. So I like to gather those bits and put them together for folks.
I see what you're saying about Ithelia, but given the amount of time they've been working on this (she was actually seeded years ago, but I can't say more right now), I do have faith in the story overall. *crosses fingers* We'll see!
What mic do you use?
It's an Audio-Technica ATR2100x; pretty cheap mic.
@@Tamriel_Tidbits your audio sounds good 👍 do you edit it a lot in post or is that just you're mic?
@@jonathannewsted4035 Not a lot, but I do have an audio preset I drop on the tracks. It filters out background noise and keeps the track from sounding tinny, compensates for the cheap mic. I don't know much about audio settings, but I fiddled around building the preset profile to make sure it still sounds like me. I probably should also mention I have some vocal training and am consciously putting effort into making it a good listening experience. I often do multiple takes, usually w/different inflections to see what works best.
