In 2009, he committed to bear all the expenses for the treatment of two Kashmiri orphan children who suffered severe burns during a terrorist grenade attack in Srinagar. He also visited the two orphans at the hospital. In 2009, during his conferment ceremony of an honorary doctorate by the British Bedfordshire University, Khan pledged his dedication to further the cause of child education in India. He is donating money in Nanavati hospital since many Year SRK donated 7cr to Indian Army in 2017 And Defense Minster of India thanked Him personally by sending Official letter to him. SRK’s NGO by the name of Meer Foundation has been working closely with Deepa Malik and her foundation ‘Wheeling Happiness’ to make lives easier for athletes ShahRukhKhan extended his support to the para-athletes by donating 50 wheelchairs on International Day of Disabled Persons. Deepa who is the first Indian woman to clinch a silver medal in shot put in the 2016 Summer Paralympic Games, labelled SRK’s contribution as a “gracious step” as it “not only makes lives easier for the athletes but also motivates and boosts their confidence”. Not just that! SRK’s foundation also provides further support to acid attacks survivors and for those who have sustained major burn injuries, taking care of medical treatment as well as offering legal aid, vocational training, rehabilitation and livelihood support. Few years back Around 200-400 mentally retarded boys came to Mannat and when ShahRukh came to know about this he cancelled his flight for London and fed them food SRKs NGO recently launched an initiative on International Women’s Day titled 'ToGETher Transformed' and it sponsored corrective surgeries for fifty burns and acid attack survivors. The whole month of March was dedicated to organizing these surgeries. The surgeries were performed at BLK Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi and G.S. Memorial Plastic Surgery Hospital and Trauma Center in Varanasi from 5th March, 2019 SRKs organization commenced its next leg in Kolkata at AMRI Hospitals Dhakuria under Dr. Arindam Sarkar.
