I feel like production chains is a natural evolution of the outpost tutorials, but maybe we're all still too new in the game.
I'd find it really helpful to have a guide that shows exactly how/why building OUTPUTs are connected. Right now my first base is an absolute mess of connections and IDK if I'm doing them correctly whatsoever.
I would say there needs to be a guide that clearly explained the mechanic of what happens when you assign Crews to an Outpost. You can query search all over CZcams and there is next to almost none and if it’s on Outpost almost none explains what Outpost Crews does or how it works. I’ve built a large Outpost and assign two my crew to it both Lin and Heller both. Both has lvl 3 skills with Lin in Outpost Management and Heller in Outpost Engineering and it isn’t clear nor made evident just what they do at the Outpost or how the Outpost improves. A Tutorial on that would be quite helpful for many players.
You still can manage to have one out post as your main manufacturing facility with all resources coming into it.
Instead of having every outpost link directly to the main one, you will have to essentially daisy chain them. On a planet that’s shipping to the main one, place another cargo link and have it feed its output into the input of that planet.
This way you can save space on the main planet as well by only having one main receiving cargo lift.
Yep that’s how I have it set up, i pretty much have every common and uncommon element funneling into one base with all my lvl 1 manufacturing unit.
@@La_Lente_Oscura what system is your outpost in? I tried to link between stars and wasn't able to
@Gabriel82622 You need to unlock the ability to link between stars. Initially, you can only link between outposts within each system.
so basically, we need to have 1 extractor per moon/planet to mine 1 resource and have it linked to a Cargo Link - Inter-System. And then have that 1 resource getting sent to the main base. Meaning you will not be having more than 1 resource being excavated on a Moon/Planet UNLESS 2 or more are within the same Outpost being placed down.
Does that sound about right?
I thought about that too but wouldn’t different solids still get mixed together?
Surely the whole point of having a pressurised greenhouse is so you can grow things in an environment that WOULDN'T normally support life.
I really hope either the devs remove this stupid restriction or somebody mods it out.
Well it could be that certain plants require specific soil mixtures, local microbes or insects, and so on, which can't easily be transported because they are dependant on the local eco-system, or they only grow in specific gravity, and so on.
It certainly would be more fun and more convenient to put all my agriculture in one spot, though.
@@thevoxdeus it would still make sense to be growing food items though, lettuce, carrot, potato etc. Even more so if your local environment CANT provide potentially edible plants.
yeah I was on a frozen moon and came across some "farmers" haha
You can literally build Hydroponics Habs. Hydroponics is growing without soil.
The game has hydroponics separate to greenhouses?
wow this is literally a guide ive been wanting and looking for yesterday!! thank youuuuuuu!
Awesome video! Looks like the Outpost rabbit hole is deep.
I’m enjoying your video coverage of this so much. Stopped satisfactory for this 🎉
Thank you. Was trying to figure this out.
Thank you for the videos of the outposts much appreciated 👍🏻😁New sub as well !!
Although there are some quality of life issues that need to receive updates, the outpost system is so good. I get lost for hours trying to build up an automated production outpost. So fun
I guess because Sarah's botany skill wasn't lit up when you assigned, it isn't outpost related at all. it must be a bonus for when you're traveling with her, and related to collecting stuff? IDK.
Only the combat and ship skills other than piloting work for companions right now from what i've heard, so the collection and crafting ones don't do anything. Though if i had to guess that's a bug
She did give me a seed randomly as a gift one time
as far as i can tell its related to the gifts they give - Sam gives ores and Sarah gives plants/organic material
Botany is for directly looting Flora.
Would like a video on creating efficient supply lines throughout different settlements
I like these series. Really want to see what can we create and what's benefits from doing this, like commerce, can we sell for credits, etc. The first video was a bit confusing for me. Perhaps a step by stepo on how to create and put each module where and about. Thanks again
I'm currently gathering resources & manufactured components from several different systems - all shipping to Carinae 3A where I build batches of Rothicite Magnets. With the emotional security xp bonus (15%) and consuming some tranquiltea or shepherd pie (further 2% xp bonus with rank 4 gastronomy, might be 2.5%, will check) - batches of 99 rothicite magnets get you 932 xp. I play the game for an hour or 2 (or more) and every so often pop back to Carinae 3A to craft more Rothicite magnets as the resources/components will gather over time. They sell for OK money but it's more useful for the XP. I should make a video. You should see the storage facilities at the end - huge warehouses and skyscrapers
Best outpost video I’ve seen so far. Still trying to see if companions will survey for you.
I’ve seen outpost engineering and management lit up on my companions but not sure if it improves anything.
I'm pretty sure your companions can't survery.
We need a storage/link mod that allows us to make a central depot to pool all the resources.
Do you know if having Crew on your Outpost would effect the Isolation Skill?
Its this games Lone Wanderer Perk and I dont like Companions, so if needed Ill skip Outposts or use Robots.
The only issue i have with having 1 big base to produce everything. is that we do not have a way to filter items into specific chests and it's really annoying me since i have daisy chained a lot to my main base right now.
This is why you do not daisy chain. Just build the extra supply links they don't need power and being able to do logistics is more valuable than 50iq daisy chain.
@@815TypeSirius unless you want to fast travel to different places all the time you 100% want to daisy chain. it's just that bethesda was once more smart just like in fallout 4 to not give a filtering option in the start.
Have you tried linking the out of one cargo link to the in of another allowing you to chain links and add the resources that outpost creates
To those struggling, simple solution:
Make your own cargo ship, have a ship which is literally just containers upon containers. You can switch to lighter ship and there’s currently a glitch where it’ll move all cargo even if there’s no space on that ship
Okay yeah I was wondering, that's why I don't switch ships because I just have to have 1236/200
I was wondering what would happen if I took my 2200+ cargo hold and transferred to the 1600 max cargo on my other ship. Guess that explains it!
Nice...., the best vid for Outpost industrialization I have watched so fare. Your Crew's botanic skill only value during collecting flora/fauna to my observation. It's a shame the supply chain only works 1 to 1. I had the same idea to build a supply and manufacturing hierarchy from base elements to advanced parts. I already had my Excel sheets for a flow chart out. This feels close to Eve online, planetary Interaction, just without customs storage.
An interesting subject would be, how many outposts you have to plant to produce the final advanced product from the extracted base materials?
How is the power management on the outpost? Since on OP 2 there is no need for any extractors, additional fabricators should be able to run or is the number of installed fabricators limited?
I haven't done the farming stuff yet but how are you getting 2 ships and landing pads at the same outpost?
So with regard to cargo links between planets and systems, do you have to build cargo ships and assign crew and routes to them or do the cargo deliveries happen automatically once you've created the link?
no, when you have a link a ship is automatic send between them.
So does this mean we will be able to farm sealant, adhesive, and structural?
I need help. I have an outpost at hyla 2 in the hyla system. The planet has 8 fauna 8 flora, I surveyed the entire planet and I already have greenhouses with fiber growing in them. I have husbandry on lvl 1 and outpost engineering on lvl 1, researched the building at a science lab, but I still can't build the husbandry... What am I missing?
Is there a way to automatically repair outpost buildings?
Can you only use the pants on the planet your greenhouse is on?? Cause I'm finding I can't grow adhesive plants on Sumati in thinning bags that planet doesn't have any
So whats the large hydroponics hab do? A variant of the regular round one is that just for show is it not an actual hydroponics room?
Same question I have
Not sure why but I cant build a hatchery on Nesoi in the system Olympus even though I scanned everything on that planet and researched even tier 2 of that building but I don't even see it in the build options. Botany and zoology are both skilled. I can place 3 different types of greenhouses there (small, medium and large) but no hatchery ...
Can you do a video about engineering robot in Starfield
Are there only certain types of fauna that can be farmed? I've been on a couple of planets that doesn't give me the option to build the husbandry stuff even though it can support life on the planet.
Not all plants or animals can be domesticated to live in habitats or greenhouses. When you scan the plant/animal it will say so if it can be used for outpost production. If it doesn't say that you can't produce it using that animal/plant
Love the game but they need to expand upon the gathering as well as linking of materials, it's nigh impossible to gather everything you need into a single big outpost which is what I want. I don't mind having to use multiple star systems but you are so restricted by how much you can transport it's insane. I hope the modders will just fix that honestly.
Like sending fluids, gasses etc. You have 3 interlinkers. Good luck with that when there's this many different fluids and such you need to ship.
Quite the headache to setup. It's like they've made it unneccearily difficult for no reason.
Where can I just store resources? In fallout 4 we had the workbench that had unlimited inventory where I could keep everything I had in one workbench. Yet in starfield, I’m a little lost. I built the decorative storage container, but unfortunately, the items inside don’t carry over to when I want to build, meaning I have to pick up every resource in the container when I want to build, then when I’m done put it back which is annoying. Thoughts?
Storage on outposts and ships isn’t infinite as far as I know but the storage in the lodge is infinite. From what I have seen from crafting in the lodge it is linked to your ship storage not the lodge storage which is very annoying. You can build a certain type of storage and it links to your ship I believe so you can access it from your ship anywhere.
The ships cargo is basically the central storage in this game, the main issue being it isn't infinite of course! It's a common store for both base construction and crafting. One of the earliest things I did once I had a ship was to add some extra storage. You can also access the ships cargo when outside the ship. Although you can only see what is there, if too far away from the ship. If close enough you can transfer directly to/from your personal inventory and the ships cargo space (tab menu > ship > Cargo Hold button bottom right). You can also sell directly from the ships cargo, for example at the trade terminals next to main settlement landing sights.
I now have >1000 capacity, and just dump all resources and anything I plan to sell into the ships cargo.
Also don't collect junk, you can't break them down, and the sell price isn't worth the inventory space or time/effort. Only collect if it's food, health or specifically used for crafting or construction.
TLDR : It's basically the FO4 workbench inventory, but it moves with you, it's just not infinite this time.
So is 1 star best for companions skills? I thought she was best at Astrodynamics. Or are they like different skill ‘trees’?
The Stars represent the points in that skill, 1 star is 1 point, so on and so on. So, the max/best level is 4 stars
Have you figured out that cargo link container? Description says it can link with your ship and provide resources or receive resources from the the ship, but I have not found out yet how that is done.
its a buildable, you build it next to your large landing pad and link it to your storage conatiners from your extractors, then you should be able to draw from all three, meaning your character inventory, you outpost inventory and your ship inventory
I will have a lot of fun role playng as a space colonist
You can consolidate resources from multiple cargo links into one before creating the final link to your main base, then on your main base just have one link that brings in everything together.
The only limitation is that the cargo link ship only carries 300kg each, but there really is no use in this game for insane production rates beyond that. I have one extractor for each resource, no more needed, everything just chains together in the link network and stacks up in the storage at my main base while I play the game. There I have one manufacturing station for each component that produce until they are full but I don't bother stockpiling them in warehouses or selling them to vendors, they just sit until I need something. It makes it so I can just go to my base and craft endlessly without purchasing materials or components, which is nice, but it doesn't make much sense to mass produce and sell stuff because merchants hardly have enough money to buy the loot I gather from playing the story as it is. The gameplay loop for mass production and actually selling the product essentially breaks down to endless fast traveling around and waiting on benches for merchants to restock, which isn't fun and money is abundant.
Probably a bug, but I had a Power Management Robot at my settlement along with 2 crew stations. I deleted a crew station for whatever reason & immediately got a pop-up telling me that the robot was no longer part of my crew (although it was still wandering around the settlement). So I built another 2 crew stations (maxed out on 3) but couldn't reassign the robot. Then I deleted the bot, but it's still showing up on the roster, I just can't do anything with it. Any ideas?
Are there any planets which people recommend to use as a base for resources?
I chose earth as my first base cause of lead
I assumed it was super valuable cause ammo crafting or something
You can craft ammo? How is that unlocked?
@@nip3004 I’m not sure but I assume there might be some way to craft ammo yourself
So as you fly to a planet, the planets resources are randomly generated. No two games are the same in that regard.
@@vanguze is this true? because I thought the game had a set seed?
@@nip3004 it's like a mix. The exploration part of the planetary stuff seems to be random. Some places are static like the cities.
Where can I build greenhouse and animal pen? I've been trying multiple planets but the option is not there, despite the skills unlocked.
I tried on Jemison since it has breathable atmosphere and water.
I'm trying my luck here because I don't get answers anywhere lol
Try Maal IV ,There is a civilian outpost there as well. You can buy and sell everything.
How does your ship land on the Landing pad? Mine lands on the group and i cant the landing area?!
for The regular/small pad, your ship cant be above 40M in any direction. for the large it is 80M.
Why won't it let me grow leafs in my green house? I need them for structure parts
Let me get this straight.. the outpost cap ? Is that Per Planet or Per System or Across the Whole Galaxy?
Now the question is, is the ultimate goal of this feature to have…
1 Main Manufacturing Hub on EACH Planetary System (there is a hundred systems btw) and that Main Hub being fed by Multiple Mining Outposts across all the Planets and Moons of that 1 Planetary System. And then rinse and repeat across all 100 Planetary Systems?
I hope they further this by letting us create space stations as our Wider Management Hubs, Allow us to use those resources to later create more expensive stations to harvest Stars.
We need something to spend all these resources and credits on, end game.
The outpost cap is in total across the whole galaxy as far as I know, so you wouldn’t be able to do what you suggest. I’m sure someone will increase it with mods though.
Finally got my copy... been playing video games since i was 11..... I'm 56 now..... once the games installed which took a bit of time I pressed play this was about midnight since I had a long day at work and had a few chores to do once I got home it was 4am when I finally paused my progress since I have to be at work by 7.... I need to get up at 5.....that was last night.... the date is 9/7/2023..... Bethesda has done it again that feeling I got when I first walked out of that vault has returned. And for all the haters y'all just keep ya pie holes shut. Even Destiny, which is a titan when it comes to fan base loyalty sucked ass when it was first released. I remember being very disappointed I wanted my money back. And yet today I have every single DLC. Star field is like a new born baby.... who looks down at a new born baby and says the worst things non of us do that because the future is uncertain. Is the game perfect no... but few games are I mean I'm totally impressed with star citizen even though there's absolutely nothing to do really except shoot each other which I hate by the way. And that's the point of this rant Starfield is not star citizen. All I know is I would've called out from work today if I could have because I didn't want to stop playing and for me that's the tell tale sign of a great game and I for one will truly enjoy exploring every single planet, base, staryard, settlement, and what ever else I can find because that's the true joy of this style of games. Like I said already Bethesda you've done it again now be a great parent and raise the child up right ya hear!!!😅 well done guys I can't wait to leave work and get my game on and it been a while since I've felt that way.😊
How much credit are you making by optimizing and automatising outpost? Because it looks fun and minecraftish, but I need those creds for my ship nad the Crimson Fleet is providing me with plenty with low effort.
Just speculating here. If Starfield devs agree with game design principles from the X: series, and Eve-Online, single combat is more lucrative at first, but large industry is the only way to get very powerful. Do both, especially whichever is more fun for you.
I rushed outpost building from a roleplay perspective and it’s tough on cash because you need to buy so many things to get an outpost even up to level 1 of manufacturing. Just now getting ready to do the large side mission orders of like 600 nickle
Luckily I have the wanted trait and have managed to steal ships that have come after me which is probably the best form of income. Go figure haha.
Hi a make level 1 bot how I build ?
i have outposts but I can only assign my crew to my ship or leave them unassigned. Not sure why The outposts are not listed in the crew screen.
Need to build a work station in your outposts then you will see that option
You have to actually build a Crew Station in your outpost to be able to assign crew members there.
I'm very confused, I unlocked rank 1 of botany and there is no greenhouse option. The planet definitely supports life, ive researched everything I possible can and have fully scanned many plants, including all the ones on the outposts planet.
What am I doing wrong? How do I get it to show up?
Okay you need to scan a plant on the planet even if you already have 100% scan, it unlocked after I scanned a random plant.
I still need fluorine though so off to get that
That worked for me, did you find out how to do the same for the animal husbandry?
@@HIGHTHUMB no, I rescanned an animal that went back to blue from 100% in the area but it didn't unlock the stricture so I'm not sure at all.
@@Katie-hj5ebdon't know it's a silly question, sorry if it is, have you researched it as well?
@@anthonywatkins1177 I did but it didn't seem to work. To be honest though I have really tried again since when I posted the comment
So if you daisy chain your outposts together you can kind of link all of your settlements together... it's a jank fix
What's the point of the hydroponics Have if you can't grow plants on no oxygen planetoids
Someone help.
My ship doesn’t land at my outpost. even though It fits the landing pad requirements. But, I built it near a preexisting landing area, is that the reason my ship isn’t landing next to my outpost?
Go into ship builder on your landing post then exit it and it will be there.
If you build close to a landing site, this can be a bit tricky. Like the above comment suggests, you can use the better landing pad which includes the ship modding and select "view and modify ships", your ship should appear on the pad when you close that screen.
Another thing to note is that you can fast travel from the planet surface or from inside your ship, if your ship isn't flying when you fast travel you don't get to choose where it lands. Make sure to take off and check that your map says "land" not "fast travel". One of my bases still doesn't let me land because it seems to be too close to a generated landing site. In this case I think you simply have to move the whole outpost a few hundred metres further to get it to work properly.
If you simply want access to and from your ships cargo, build the transfer storage and just fast travel to and from you ship, you can fast travel by activating the scanner and looking at your destination which is faster than opening the map each time.
Hope some of that helps, it's a lot to take in don't be afraid to take a break and come back to outpost building later there's a lot to explore in starfield.
If you assign a crew with strong management skills, can you then assign more crew to the outpost?
I already tried having an outpost engineer accompany me on my ship to research outpost facilities, but their skill did not compensate for my lack of the same. As such, I'm not too hopeful that the answer to the above will be positive. Only thing I did not try was to do research on the outpost to which the engineer was assigned.
As far as I know your skills and crew skills are totally separate. So for research it is only based on your skills as far as I know.
@@conorstewart2214Thanks!
It works this way for ships, at least. I bought a ship with 4 crew slots, but it wouldn't let me assign more than 3 people unless one of them was Sarah, because she has the Leadership skill.
@@Tobascodagama Gotta love that the one Constellation member who is so aggravating I don't WANT her on my ship is the one you get a bonus for having like that. Her Karen attitude makes her far more annoying than the Adoring fan lol
It’d be pretty cool to have those little sanitation robots roaming around your owned homes. Unfortunately they’re only for outposts so far.
I've unlocked Domestication 2 and Horticulture 2. I've surveyed all the plant life 8/8 and 7/8 for animal life. I have the Outpost rank 2 perk as well. Why isn't the Domestication crates showing up on my outpost to build? Does anyone know what's going on?
P.S. I'm able to build the greenhouses,
Planet is STD 02
I had the same issue with plants, but I figured it out. It is not possible to have everything at your outpost. When you scan something it will say that you can produce it at the outpost. I assume the same is true of animals so even though you've scanned the animals that doesn't mean they can be domesticated
the last animal ur missing is likely in the ocean. Find an area on the map b4 u land that says (shore) then land there and find the ocean
10/10 game of the decade.
Baldurs gate and Elden ring are better imo but is a really good game
Of the decade? Lmao you're crazy. It's not a bad game but not the best, either. It's basically just fallout in space. Was fallout 4 game of the year for you too? Lol.
Of the decade? wow, m8 either you are living under a rock or you haven't tried out other games.
Can you build a wall around your outpost?
Nope
you can build a makeshift wall out of the storage crates for your outpost to act like one tho@@vincentchauvot5899
Wait… so I can’t set up a farm/garden on a planet without life?
That sucks. I wanted to make a little garden on a desolate wasteland
People don't seem to be base building much. I'm confused.
I wanted fallout 4 style settlements!
me:
Also me: "Ew, enough building."
my robots are saying they doing a software update dont interupt.... they been saying this for days! why?
Love your videos and the content but, please turn down the bass of your volume. You have a softer voice so I turn up the volume. But the bass on your voice is too loud.
My god there is like several hundred hour games in this game.
please make the video louder next time, we can turn it down if its too loud lol. Listening through monitor speaker
good content though, thank you
what is the point of making so much effort into these factories? to farm credits?
Funny enough solar winds can be crazy strong so some atmosphereless planets would be great at wind based power
oh man im going to spend thousand of hours again on a game
that betehesda didn't install any filters for the storage building is absolutely stupid.
Factorio modded into Starfield in…. I give it 6-9 months 😂
Ok this really look like No Man's Sky
Maybe TotalXClipse would do a comparison.
Never played NMS, but my understanding is it’s a LOT different. There’s no flying manually between planets/systems/regions on the planet. That being said if you’re okay with fast traveling to different areas and the associated load screens, it’s insane how vast the game is and there’s a lot of interesting stuff to do.
Having played both, I don’t think they are all that similar. The perfect game would be a combination of the two. My hope is that Bethesda plans on expanding the actual space exploration part of the game. NMS does that much better right now.
Cant compare this game to no mans sky. I’ve dumped so many hours in this game. The side quests felt like a making storyline and rewards you very well for finishing it through. The sheer amount of things you can pick up. For the game just coming out in early access I’m astounded by what they accomplished. I can only imagine it gets significantly better the more players get their hands on this game. I play NMS but honestly this game is very unique to that and I’m really enjoying it
For starters, No Man's Sky is less expensive. That's what's holding me back for now. NMS scratched it a bit, but that's it. I do see not a lot of comparison.
Why farm in Starfield?
Considering the logitical challenges involved in selling resources, it seems like a very dulll way to earn a bit of pennies.
Your follower skills are exactly the same
Ones you have in your skills tree. You can go to them there to see what they do
What is the use for the hydroponics habitat then?
The output link is so badly designed its not even funny. Even something simple like powering a generator and exporting the rest of He-3 is stupid complicated.
I built about 5 He-3 extractors and that seemed to be enough to power the generator and the interstellar trade link.
I don't think you can actually export it, although I could be wrong. Having He-3 sources at an outpost adds to the distance you can jump between stars before running out of fuel, so I think having it exported to all of your bases (eg by daisy chaining) would be game breaking.
NGL I have no idea, I'm making a lot of assumptions.
Why did they make this 40 times more complicated than settlement / structure connecting and building in fallout 4? Immersion? No thanks I am losing interest in settlement building for the first time ever.
how can we go to all places of planest if we cant fly ship hovering over the planets no land vehicles also? this is disappointing i though it was better than star citizen sad..... but still i gonna play it... its just like FALLOUT with a movable base as your ship that can teleport into other map or planet
Looks awesome but for me 70 euros is way too much, for now.
CDKeys almost always has deals on a 1 Month Game Pass subscription.
Gamepass.
The entire resource management system is just fucked. I see what they were trying to do, but it's a total fucking mess. Especially since you can't connect crafting tables to any storage, which means you've got to carry the materials to do anything.
In my opinion, this entire feature is worthless until modders get their hands on it and fix it.
Crafting tables should pull from your ships cargo at least.
I'm going to test this theory but I'm pretty sure it pulls from other places cuz it has for me.
>Everything you need to know
>I haven't unlocked that yet
What's going on with you creators and Starfield? Either grind like hell or just cheat for the sake of the tutorial video.
Instead you waste my time by showing me things I (and I guess many others who will be at that point by now) already know. Think about this video two weeks from now? What value will it have?
Thanks for nothing.
U mad bro
If you already know these things then why are you watching the video? The only one wasting your time is you.
Most CZcams videos, especially on trendy topics have a large number of views right at the start and that fades quickly so it doesn’t matter how valuable it will be 2 weeks from now. They could even make a more complete video later on.
Are you really that mad that in the few days starfield has released as early access, it hasn’t even properly released yet, that content creators haven’t discovered everything and had time to make a video explaining everything?
wasted more time leaving a dumbass comment
Valid critique, followed by invalid critiques of the critique.
This game is hot garbage. I played 27 hours of it before I got it refunded.
Starfield is objectively the worst game of 2023.
Bethesda works 10 years just to rebuild a game they destroyed after stealing the original from someone else, which was made like 25 years ago? And it's still got bugs, despite hundreds of employees working for a decade. gg ez
um no the game went only into full production in 2020.
if you havent made one yet a guide to ship optimization for cargo and contraband plus the best to sell /keep list? @TotalXclipse ty this video helps xD
