- The CK3 Tales of Ireland mod is one of the best CK3 mods out there. It adds THOUSANDS of new provinces with magic and the high king of ireland. There arew also several CK3 invasions to make this a real ck3 challenge. CK3 Ireland has never been so vibrant and I have to admit that this is one of my favourite CK3 mods. We're going to try to form the Kingdom of Mann, because, why not?

The mod is based on "Lebor Gabála Érenn" or "The Book of Invasions of Ireland" - medieval pseud-historical narrative about the history of the Isle. According to it there was six takings of the island by the six different people. Among them: different descendants of biblical Noah, monstrous Fomorians, Tuatha Dé Danann - race of beautiful, magical, totally-not-a-gods (yay medieval monks writing down legends), and, finally the Milesians who were supposed to be direct ancestors of Irish.
In general Irish (and Celtic) mythology is fascinating and I encourage everyone to check it out.
From my understanding. The works were the inventions of medieval Christian monks who wanted to make Irish mythology and legend better fit their faith's worldview.

It was more of a medieval self insert fanfiction. It essentially takes the old pagan beliefs and folklore of Ireland and puts them into a Christian context. Irish Christianity borrowed a lot from the old beliefs in way of practice. Ireland is well known for having holy wells for various Christian saints. In Irish polytheism water and wells were places of worship because many of them were said to have healing properties or be considered places of knowledge. The River Shannon was said to have been formed by the dead body of a woman being punished by the gods for taking to much of the knowledge. In the wells of many saints in Ireland including one to St. Brigid, we have found pre-Christian Roman coins. Showing that because Roman traders from a pre-Christian Rome giving and offering into that well this particular Irish well was a place of worship for the goddess Brigid. St. Brigid likely never existed and is based off of an irish goddess. Many early irish Christian monks were either druids or former druids and played a big role in the beliefs of irish Christianity. Many druids became part of the brehon class who were the legal scholars of Ireland. Some were bards and told the stories. Monks began to adapt Irish mythology into Christianity in order to make it easier to convert the Irish.

Dude I love to hear you talk about stuff other than the game in the videos, you always make it quite entertaining even when the topic (such as football) doesn't particularly interest me whatsoever.
Laith we love it that you talk about stuff outside of the game. Whether it be football or your life, it shows us that your human. For me, it makes me more engaged because I feel like I have found a CZcamsr that I can try to relate with and actually "spend time with" if that makes any sense.

The invasion he’s referring to is either the Irish discovering Ireland after being told to sail there by the gods or the Formian invasion of the isle

I do enjoy the life stories that pop up here and there. On another note if you want to more easily find the inheritable traits for marriages you can use the filter labeled traits where you can choose only characters with inheritable traits would appear.
I love the more casual approach you take to the videos in terms of talking about both the game and things going on in your life because it makes you stand out from the rest of the PDX youtubers. For the most part they are fully focused on the game and maybe have the occasional reference to something they've done and feel like cookie-cutters (not saying theyre bad, just not as personal). The same applies for the discord (join the discord server guys) so you feel like a genuine person and not just a content creator.
Laith we don’t actually mind your commentary, most of the times they’re cool actually and pretty interesting. We’d just wish that you continued your saves at least one day per week!

I studied Irish archaeology in college/university and I love this mod because I read this book for that class.
I like where you talk about the WC. I also appreciate you're in a combat sport. Stuff like that is good, makes you a more "whole" person.
I honestly love it when Laith goes off on random tangents about non-game things. Adds to the entertainment imo

You need to press the OK button for your settings to save when disabling nudity. Pressing ESC to close the menu discards the changes
I’m here for both Laith, not me Laith but you Laith, and the game so happy to hear about whatever. Tunisia did so good this year, I was sad to see it end the way it did. Maybe one day I’ll see a Falestinian team but for now I’m rooting for all my other Arab brothers.

I personally don't care about Football/Soccer myself, but I find it interesting to hear it from someone who actually cares about it, the energy and enjoyment transmits over the screen extremely well and is highly enjoyable

Just want to comment on the CK2 stuff said in the beginning, ngl having played both 2 and 3 a lot CKII with HIP seems the more "realistic" in its outcomes if you do not interact with the weird stuff. Also because 2 is way more stylized than 3, it honestly feels like it pays homage to the medieval era way better than 3. Also, the fact that the economy didn't even get a massive rework and become actually complex in 3 and that 3 doesn't have an insanely detailed map are massive disappointments to me, but that's just me.
What are you talking about? CK3's map is massively more detailed than CK2's, in terms of faiths, cultures, and political borders. In fact, It's probably the most detailed map of the medieval world to ever feature in a video game. What is your standard for detail? The Voltaire's Nightmare mod? MEIOU and Taxes? HIP? I hope it's not HIP, because I think CK3 has even more counties than it does.
@@DovahFettngl i was hoping it would be stupidly detailed like MEIOU/BT however i do agree that the CK3 map is waaaaaay better than the CK2 map (esp when it comes to cultures/religions lol), i’m sure i’m being a big idiot for thinking this, but im addicted to insane historical and economical detail in the maps of my map games 🫡

Best video you've done in a few weeks. I think Victoria 3 still isn't there yet. I've been playing it a lot too, but CK3 has a great system and the modding is awesome.

CK2 being the historical recount can even be boosted by the portraits which are more like you'd see in paintings vs the 3d models of 3
I HUGELY prefer you talking about stuff unrelated to the game, its real fun to hear about and if you were talking about ONLY the game it would get dry pretty quick imo. So yeah, continue the fun off-topic stuff, its fun, and interesting!

As a manx person, I actually loved this, I just don't know much irish mythology and the like, so I thought the Island cloaked in fog was referring to Manannan's Cloak.

Don't know if anyone else has said it, but I assume the clothing disappearing even when it shouldn't is due to the mods playing around with attire, and cultures, which can cause some funky stuff.

I’d love mods for each region of the world that focuses on the myths/history of that region. I.e. Tales of Scandinavia, Tales of India, Persia, Greece, Africa and so on if not one mod that combines it all.

(Edit: because for some reason people think that I'm saying everything in the mediaeval period is boring; I'm not. I'm just stating that the majority of people had lives that depended on them surviving day to day and that large events like wars and revolutions happened in between large periods of time. Unlike some people in this comment section, I don't think that everyone had these adventurous lives full of swords and glory. That was for the 1% that didn't have large families to feed and sickening plagues to survive.)

I didn't know CK3 had decided not to add in the mythical stuff..I thought it was coming in a future pack. Very disappointed actually that they'd do that. It's one of the best parts of CK2, it's what made it go from a good game to an amazing one.

to address your whole "stuff to to talk about" topic, id say you should just keep it as you have recently, its quite entertaining to hear you complain about random shit and explain weird stuff thats aheppened to you... or scream at some lads kicking a ball around. Altough i owuld like to say that there is a large lack of talking about Slough, felt i needed to bring that up.
