Half-Life: Alyx is a 2020 virtual reality first-person shooter game developed and published by Valve. It was released for Windows and Linux, with support for most PC-compatible VR headsets. Set five years before Half-Life 2, players control Alyx Vance on a mission to seize a superweapon belonging to the alien Combine.
I can't believe that G-man had the key to half-life 3 in his briefcase all this time.
And he was kept in that vault the past decade too. It all makes sense

I think people overcomplicate the ending a bit. The post-credit scene with Eli and Gordon in the hangar suggests that the events of HL2 have happened exactly like they did in the game, only that now Eli gets mysteriously saved, and Alyx disappears from the hangar. So there's a simple interpretation: after G-man hires Alyx, he wipes her memories of their encounter in the Vault and lets her return home. Everything happens according to the previous games; the very end of HL2E2 is simply what would have happened had G-man not intervened.
Edit: To further clarify, Alyx disappearing from the hangar is, naturally, her finally being taken by G-man, as the repayment for his help all those years prior. The end of HL:A is basically G-man going "Let me help you in advance; you will pay later".
When Alyx pleads to go home, and G-man responds with "I'm afraid you misunderstand the situation", I interpret that to mean "I AM sending you home, your part of the deal won't come into play until later."
That makes a lot more sense than the time travel shenanigans I came up with when I first saw it

@@BunkerFox Ultimately we can't be sure until we get more information, but I honestly just have a hard time believing that Valve would drastically change the events of the previous games, or incorporate some complex multi-timeline fuckery for fans to keep track of. It just doesn't seem like something this series would do, at least not until Borealis comes into play.

I’m sorry but the G Man releasing Alyx at the end after hiring her is so clunky and betrays the emotional point of the ending. Why would they make us believe she’s trapped after making the wrong choice if he’s just gonna go “lol just kidding” and immediately release her.
The time traveling shenanigans are the entire point and the game constantly hints towards it, it’s totally plausible for G Man to go to a different timeline, set up all the events of HLA, and then come back to our timeline after it’s changed. The G Man is not constrained by our understanding of time.
The vorts aren’t either, Is Or Will Be, it’s a matter of perspective. Are the events of Alyx happening in the past? The future? A different timeline? It doesn’t really matter.
For anyone unaware, the "For Jake" message at the end of the credits is in reference to Jakob Nicholson, a member of the choreo team, the people who animate scripted sequences. One of the scenes that Jake worked on specifically was when Alyx hands the player the gravity gun, though you can call it the Zero-Point Energy Field Manipulator, if you *really* want to.

He passed away in 2016, but his work was instrumental to HL2.

If you look at your yesterday Part 4.. it is a point where you go for almost 40 minutes without a single shooting in this first person shooter.. almost 40 minutes!! of just walking and picking up shotgun shell by shotgun shell......... and that has been the downfall of this game.. that's why almost nobody plays it anymore or made mods for it........ in the mods for example.. you get an entire box of shotgun shells.. or an entire box of Resin (like in half-life should be) and move forward.. like in this one (with a flashlight by the way).. »» czcams.com/video/-4f45qUIqTA/video.html

Another overlooked detail from this game is that the Vault that imprisons the G-man is powered by Vortigaunt energy. In the episodes we see how the Vortigaunts are capable of severing G-man's connection to Gordon. The fact that their energy was used to imprison him is further proof that this is G-man's only known weakness. If there is anyone that could potentially defeat him, it would be the Vortigaunts

It would be great to see you check out HL2-EP2 in VR one day as well as they are masterful ports of the games to VR made to play sorta like how Alyx does. The bridge scene is absolutely ridiculous in VR, makes the atmosphere thicker than I thought it could ever be
imagine how insane a half life 2 remake would be in source 2. hell, make it VR. maybe even add the episodes onto it. that would be something extraordinary.
There's the HL2: RTX stuff coming out, and I know the HD models and textures for that are going to be put into the HL2:VR mod, because the dev that made it is part of the RTX team and said they're looking into it

Before playing Black Mesa, you should definitely play Hunt Down The Freeman, it has a very heart felt story, amazing characters with the best dialogues and voice acting which all fits in the Half-Life universe perfectly. And the gameplay, absolute perfection. It combine all the good elements of all the Half-life games in a very fun and cohesive manner with top tier absolute perfection and super great level design.

What happenes?
It's been amazing watching you play through the entire series Kelski! Of course is not the end, I'm really excited for Black Mesa and whatever comes next. Even though this is a game that I can't play myself, ever since watching a playthrough of it when it came out, it tells me that Valve still has it in them, even if they are not the same company as before. During the fixtf2 thing many people started to be really aggressive towards Valve saying that they don't make good things anymore, but honestly, when it comes to singleplayer games, Valve still hasn't disappointed me. In fact, every time I see the Jeff section of this game I just think how it's possibly the best section in all of their games. I just hope they keep making stuff like this, even if it takes time (I hope there's not an entire decade of nothing again tho lol) At this point I don't care if hl3 is vr exclusive or not, I just want to see Valve doing their best like with this game, in whatever platform they decide it's best to give that experience
kelski, when playing ez2, do NOT look at chat. They likely will try to spoil major plot parts at times.
if you read this again, EZ1 doesnt have much stuff. EZ2 is a way more developed game, so i recommend avoiding chat unless you need help, cause they might spoil good parts of the game.
EZ1 doesnt have much uniqueness to spoil, and you can skip it and still play EZ2 perfectly fine.
Is the story in Entropy Zero really that good?
@@kel_ski People have Mixed feelings about it, but the game is Just AMAZING, it’s really funny, sometimes stressing and overall just a masterpiece of a game. I don’t even consider it a mod anymore.

@@kel_ski Yeah, it is, but the real meat and potatoes is in the second installment. Play the first entropy for sure though, I've seen a bunch of people saying you should skip it but I do think you should play it first to get the whole experience.

This game basically confirmed that hl3 WILL happen somewhere in the near future.
I do have a theory of what will happen in hl3, If it involves the borealis I do think portal will take part in hl3 and the gravity gun and the portal gun will make something that is like a hybrid between the two. (sounds dumb I know.) plus the gravity gun is made by aperture science, and i hope hl3 will be in vr and on console.

I'd KILL for a well made Halo VR game. Imagine all the different guns and learning to use and load each of them. How the HUD would work in VR. Seeing an Elite or a Hunter in life size scale. Looking out the window of a ship in space. It would be so amazing.

RAISING IN THE BAR REDUX:Division 1/2 (a 40 people working to re-create all half life 2 with BETA Asthetic and ambient. Its really worth to play, the game have almost 5 hours of gameplay and they still working on the continuation called division 3.)

Super hyped to watch you play Black Mesa! It's peak Half-Life content, I could even argue its my favorite Half-Life game!
And about full body tracking. I have a FBT setup, and its 100% worth it if you are a VR enthusiast, or, if you consistently play the few games that actually support it. (Most sadly don't). I have only tried it in VRChat myself, and it is a whole new level of immersion, being able to see and move your whole body in VR. It was like playing VR for the first time again. Drinking in VRC with a bunch of friends who also have FBT is a 10/10 time!
I heard the quest sucks ass to get working with FBT though. Price wasn't too bad for me since I own the Index. I already had most of what I needed, just needed extra trackers. I haven't been in the VR space for a while though, so I am sure some better alternatives have come up by now. So look into it if you are really interested!
Also. All the real ones got teary eyed at the ending. Waiting over a decade for any form of HL content, then seeing that twist at the end, it was just so much to take in after so long with nothing.

There's an interactive book on Steam titled the final hours of half life alyx by the game awards host (can't remember his name) that documents the behind the scenes of this game and what had happened at Valve for the past 10 years or so as to why they didn't put out a single player game for years
I don't intend on spreading misinfo (please correct me in replies) but from what I remember, in one of the chapters, this game initially started as an 8-minute playable experiment on vr using HL 2 assets but the playtesters ended up taking like 40 minutes mostly playing around with cans and stuff
Valve knows that only a number of players have vr headsets and thus didn't want this game to be more than "just an experiment" except the game kept getting bigger in scope (which also meant that they had to develop Source 2 as they go along) and then you can probably guess what happened after that

When G Man Multiplies, it’s him going to other possible futures. (One of which is HL2 ending) (the real g man was in the vault all along. That’s why in HL2 he appears and disappears)

Your controllers weren't tracking right on the strider fight because they removed the rings the Quest 2 controllers had, the Quest 3 controllers only have IR LEDs on the face where the buttons are, and like 1 on the grip, it's a known issue.
It rarely affects games depending on how you grip them, so some people will never have problems.
Congrats on finishing what is basically VR perfection.
In my opinion, although the time travelling is confusing as hell. It is Half-Life after all and G Man can do all kinds of weird stuff so at the end of Half-Life 2 ep 2 Alyx just mysteriously disappear. The transition is a little wonky if you think too much about it but I think this is the best way to continue the series onward (The previous story got leaked by the writer I believed)

from what i heard, the combine saw the striders on some planet and didnt actually enslave them, they tried to copy their design and thats why the striders in hl alyx look kinda wack at first
hopefully valve hasn't given up on VR. best case scenario for HL3 would be if they gave you the option between VR and flatscreen. they played it safe with HLA.
it would be cool if they added full body and being able to drop your weapons and of course melee as an update to HLA right before they release their next HL game.
by the way you should totally play through the game with developer commentary on this game has really complex systems you might have missed.
