I like that this game is one of the few where the villain achieves his goal. Wanted to bring Alice back, regardless of the consequences, subsequently achieving his goal. I actually liked his boss fight a lot, and the song at the 3rd phase was amazingly integrated. POWER OF FRIENDSHIP triumphs once again!
Villain for ff15 achieves his goal as well, to end the lucius lineage and get his death

God DAMN this boss was insane! Shame that this game didn't get a lot of attention. I feel like this was the gem this year that no one played.

Fuck no annoying and drawn out, last bosses were so spongy I just ended up closing the game and watching the ending on CZcams because I was getting bored as hell

The villain's name is Karen.
There is nothing I can add to that.
But the pronunciations is different than the usual Karen.
And he lives up to that name.
As soon as I saw the name Karen I knew he was going to be trouble.
In Japanese they call him Karem
As soon as I saw Karen introduced I knew that was the villain.
Best part of the whole fight, Gemma stepping in to take a massive hit and send it right back. Loved the entire fight tho, and the entire game at that 😊
I think Karen sold it for me.
First, we learn of his use (or rather, misuse) of the Red Strings to bring back lost love. Okay, kinda tropey. At this point, I expected him to fail and die--Scarlet Nexus frequently puts character development (related to the main story) on hold to progress story events (or plot), which is frustrating. I thought he'd die with the same attitude he was introduced with.
Then we defeat him, leaving him with no choice but to help--which, at the time, felt convenient. I wasn't even surprised at his sacrifice. What truly hit me was that he didn't just kill himself, he erased himself from existence, from the memory of the one he loved, so that she may continue living. And him helping the crew to save the world wasn't simply because the world needed saving; if he was going to save Alice, he needed to save the world too, to guarantee her safety and to gift her the best version of this world, without the Extinction Belt, without the onslaught of Others, without the Kunad Gate. He sacrificed all of his being, even his memory, not just to bring back Alice but to improve the world, because he couldn't bring her into a broken one.
Massive Simp Alert aside, his final actions aligned perfectly with his motives. He did the literal best he could, accepting the enormous price he had to pay for it.
@𝐗 𝐗 𝐕 𝐈 𝐈 Yeah, I had initially expected Karen to pursue a more... lethal goal. Certainly was a bummer, and "Dead Loved One" has become a very tired way to induce conflict.

@𝐗 𝐗 𝐕 𝐈 𝐈 World domination is about as overused, and had they gone that route, they would have made him a cartoon villain like Vholran from Tales of Arise. Also, while his main motivation is Alice, his love extends to Fubuki as well. He strives to protect and make a better world for both of them. His DLC episode further fleshed this out.
The designs of the bosses in particular in Scarlet Nexus were next level. After the spinning double legs on an elephant head, we get this quadruple fucked up god manifestation.

You know it's a 2021 game when the main villain is a total Karen.
And ironically this game takes place in 2020.
This was one damn good boss fight, on all fronts.
Not only it takes place in a gorgeous place (well, Others sure are creepy as fuck, but you know what i mean), it manages to be the absolute climax in terms of how strong you and your opponent are, you can feel the presence of the whole team and how each and every member gives its contribution to the fight, both because it is a multi-phase fight with different rules each time, but also because how well it makes you feel that everyone is there, with no exception.
At this point you need to understand each and every ability your friends have, what powers they can lend you, and how to put them into use at the correct time and in the most effective way. It is the peak of the journey, the true test of the bond you created with your friends along the way, it blends the gameplay aspect of unlocking new SAS abilities and levels with the humane feeling of cameraderie.
The bond between people in general is the strongest selling point of this game. See how in the beginning of the game you can't use SAS of characters you already met, but in the later stages you can use abilites of characters that are not even physically there with you, because just as the game says, the bond you formed is so strong that it holds, it exists no matter how far you each go on your own road. I'm sure that if you have watched Your Name (Kimi no na wa) you can understand this concept very well.
The part where you find yourself alone, stranded against Karen, who is seemingly undefeatable, but then your friends slowly start reaching you one by one (well, actually two at a time), showing up with their SAS-activation scene, almost had me literally tear up (and i assure you few games made me reach that point), i was playing it in the middle of the night and i literally bursted into cheers out loud. It's one of those scenes that truly grasps the language that only videogames can wield as a narrative/meta-narrative medium.
This game sure doesn't have the best story ever, and to be honest, it possibly has some weak points/plot holes along the way or things that are just there for context, but are not really fleshed out. But it sure delivers when it comes to team building and bonding with other people.

Bandai and their goddamn shounen tag, i am waiting the day they embrace the seinen tag like DK since cmon bandai yall publish it, why dont make darker plot of God Eater? But tbh the final fight is pretty easy since you have Ara and Gemma ability which i absolutely exploit it, But did I leave unsatisfied? ofc not. Its the i have seen enough and I satisfied but no more of that thank you. Still tho Scarlet probably the best game bandai have create so boldly since what happen to GE3 and CV, Scarlet is the best fast paced action i have played this year
the best pottery in this game, dunno if intentional or not, is how your maxed SAS abilities are stronger than brain field in terms of deleting enemies instantly. kagero+kyoka+any elemental will either oneshot mobs or stun the big ones for free hits, and with careful cycling between gemma's armor and arashi's hyperspeed you're pretty much invincible. then there's tsugumi's instant armor break.
it's a great way of saying power of friendship triumphs all

What a spectacular boss fight. Particularly the first phase the cutscene when Karen puts on the mask and the debris is falling as the crazy BGM kicks in. Amazing

ACTIVATE THE BRAIN FIELD, NOW!!
I love how as the final phase progresses, you are at alone in the dark at first, and when you try to hit Karen, you cannot hit him at all, he just goes about the place dodging your hits.
Then Hanabi and Shidden comes in, and while it is still really hard to hit him, from time to time, you actually land some hits in.
Then Kagero and Tsugumi comes in and you start being able to land more punches in.
Finally, when everyone arrives, you were able to hit blow after blow after blow. It shows Yuito's journey, as while alone he is weak and he knows that, but as his bonds grew the stronger he gets.
Such a brilliant aspect of the final phase of Karen's fight.
this is about as deep and insightful as explaining that grass is green
You'd think yet another "power of friendship" climax in a JRPG would just be cause for eye rolls, but this was hype as shit. In no small part thanks to the OST -- fantastically done.
The final area including Karen was a MASSIVE pain in the ass especially this boss before Karen which had FOUR PHASES I'm like "Oh good the end" only to find out I was a good 40% done. Then the Karen boss fight happened where I struggled on phase 1 only to find out there's TWO MORE PHASES.
When I discovered Karen had a fight one on one with the protagonist initially I was like "...Sephiroth?"
The final mission was too damn long. After the fourth area I kept thinking "fuck me is it over yet?" only to find yet another area waiting.
Yeah the first few area/dungeons had a good length but the last few dungeons where just way to long

It's so difficult to take Karen seriously at times when you realize his VA is the same as Bleach's Ikkaku, you can actually tell when Karen starts screaming.

The final boss decide to sacrificing his own existence just to saving the world kinda reminds me of that fighting game (BBCF) where the main character of that game saving the world at a cost of his own existence as well.

That's not what Karen did. All he had to do to help them save the world is erase his traces of time travel. He did do that, but he was so desperate to save his fiance he sacrificed his own existence to undo her death. He definitely was not thinking about saving the world when he made that choice.
In phase 3 I left Karen with empty life bar and he still walked and attacked for another minute before Arashi casually hit him in the back while he was walking towards me lol

Finally I've finished this game . The game was way to long at half the journey I literally thought of uninstalling it because it was taking way too long to complete but I didn't lose hope . The most important thing about the game was the combat it was awesome, enemies was not that great they could have been more competitive , story was okay it streched it for too long . The most annoying thing was cut- scenes because they were most conversations that take half of the time , character development could have been little bit better overall the game was kinda good.
And there are people complaining the games was short.

listen to the start of the song and how it starts picking up and coming together for an epic conclusion as more of your team joins.
It's actually pretty awesome. Made me tear up a bit. Best part of the fight.

I honestly think it was just a stylistic choice. It was pretty lame initially but it kind of grows on you after a while.
I think the visual novel style is done on purpose. I mean, I didn't buy the game solely for the cutscenes, but they mostly just do it for scenes with lots of dialogue and still animate the important/action scenes anyway so it's not that bad tbh. Not much to animate if it's just characters standing and talking.

Great boss, no question. But, i have no idea what happen to him or what he did to transform. Can anyone explain?
In part 2 of the final battle, those was his emotions of how he felt after he couldn't save Alice countless times, who he had feelings for before (if you recall where you was fighting through the different areas when they was showing memories of Karen, Fubuki and Alice). At the ending he erased himself from existing in the world, which brought Alice back to life, the Kunad Gate closing and the extinction belt being removed.
