Can confirm that sonoran coral snakes will fart at you. I live in southern AZ and had the pleasure of finding one in my back yard. I put on gardening gloves and picked it up, and then it emitted sounds like a squeaky shoe from its back end; it left a residue on my gloves that smelled like sweaty gym socks. Pretty cute li'l guys.

In other words, do we show a preferential sensitivity to the scent endogenous to ourselves, as opposed to other's gas?

I had the privilege of snorkeling with manatees. They are gentle, friendly creatures, but I can confirm first hand that they fart, a LOT
