  • @shoopinc
    @shoopinc Před 3 lety +3

    The piece would take the same amount of time 10 minutes because length of the pieces is a conserved quantity for a particular piece. Proof: musical work has beats per minute (bpm) written on sheet music, total length is not written directly but you can multiply bpm by the number of beats which is on the sheet music that's how you know what to play when anyways. However this does not account for higher order effects in the psychology of the players, like personally I would notice back in jazz band which was a smaller group we played much more in time than regular band or marching band which were bigger groups. This could have been due to the selection of the better players in jazz band vs other or group size. If it is group size it could be a band twice the size would play faster. However this is a 2nd order effect almost negligible relative to the length of a full piece like Beethoven's 69th maybe would account for a few beats at most. So in conclusion both bands will likely play at the same speed.

    • @cartermurphy1618
      @cartermurphy1618 Před 3 lety +1

      And with help from Noether’s Theorem, we can relate the conservation of length of the piece to a fundamental symmetry- namely, the additive symmetry of the orchestra. One can clearly see that the sound produced by the orchestra is invariant under adding or subtracting one member; furthermore, there is necessarily a conservative instrument-field

    Me who had an exam in Numerical linear algebra today: 10 minutes with a significant, yet unknown relative error. We do however know both the performance time and the condition of the algorithm f, defined as "Perform this piece" lies in O(1), therefore the performances are well conditioned (1). Note that (1) does not hold for the air within the packed concert hall, which is poorly conditioned wirh overwhelmingly high probability.

    That means that many musicians or not if they are playing the same song at the same time,in sync then it takes them just the same amount of time to play
