I've had mine for a little less than a year. It's recently started to step dim about 50 lumens every minute after being on for about a minute.
@@Striker50_ I noticed that my lit area didn't seem as bright as I thought it should be. Then I used the light meter in the Physics Toolbox Suite app to make sure. Dimming confirmed. 👎🏻
I wonder if it dims to maximize the life of the lithium battery. how often do you use yours? @@erntaku
@@Striker50_ almost every day. I use it mostly as a reading lamp next to my bed. But it's rarely on for more than 20-30 min at a time. I need to correct myself, the app I use measures in lux(almost equivalent to lumens though). And I measured again last night, it went from around 700 lux down to around 250 within 30 min. I doubt that is a feature. I remember it being pretty constantly bright when I first got it. I've seen Amazon reviews with the same complaint. *Shrug*
Do you think this light could be used for video production and vlogging?
100%. That's what I got it for
If you're doing a lot of face close ups, the light may be harsh on the skin and eyes so a filter like parchment paper can help soften the light
@@Striker50_ Thanks for responding. Have you shot any videos with this light yet?
@@howieyoungmedia7139 Yup, my slipper video and Asics video that was just uploaded 👌
@@Striker50_ I watched the video. How did you set-up the light? Did you use any diffusion or bounce it off a wall or ceiling?
@@howieyoungmedia7139 I placed the light directly towards it actually nothing fancy and had it on the highest setting
T bought one. Are you still happy with your purchase?
Absolutely. I haven't used it for camping or under the car when I work on it yet, But I love the fact that it could be taken off the tripod. I wish the battery lasted twice as long however. It's good on low mode, but higher energy drains it quicker.
Also wish it had an emergency mode that only puts out about 150 lumens so that the battery can last 20+ hours but that's nit picking
Non replaceable lithium ion battery. Lifespan about 3 years depending on conditions.
Interesting take. Perhaps if this is used every single day. Then again, it would simply hold less charge in 3 years. Cell phones have lithium ions and they last well over 3 years, just arent at efficient at holding a charge.
Keep in mind you can always return these at Costco should they fail that's the most awesome part
@@Striker50_ Yeah I was just there trying to figure out the battery type. It's currently on clearance at my local costco.
If you treat this like a true work light, i.e. keep it in your garage or car charged up, storage conditions *alone* will drop the useful battery life. EOL for lithium batteries is when they drop to 70% or so of their original capacity, however at that point they really start degrading. Probably why they set the EOL there.
I'd prefer to just swap in a LiFePO4 battery instead but nobody appears to have done a teardown.
@@GoatZilla Very good understanding; it sounds like you'd benefit from a traditional cord work light. For the price it's listed at, Nothing else really comes close for it's versatility
Can you keep light plugged in continuously?
If you're asking if you can have the light on, and plugged in so it stays on longer than just the battery life then yes 👍
The light does turn on while plugged in but it limits operation to the lowest brightness. The included charging adapter also gets extremely hot.
It will be funny if your girl can open that for you. 😂
I'd be defeated if that happened ☠️
Works good now thankfully I was so close to returning it
Do you need to workout/lift weights before purchasing this light?
LMAO I hope not 😂
But I'm glad I was able to fix the tripod by hitting it with a wrench 🔧
