Looking at the changes the game went through so far, it seems clear that the devs' goal is to make it harder - meaning, more grindy and tedious, and overall less enjoyable. It's a rare thing in game industry to see game developers actively take away the fun from their product. The Fun Pimps aren't fun anymore - rather, you mostly use the other F word when you think or talk about them...
I agree with ou 100% and I honestly find it incredibly puzzling. I can understand changing mechanics and/or changing things that you come to realize are matters of "Hey, wow, we never realized this would let you basically skate your way through with no challenge," but so many of the "fixes" or "new features" of the game can be directly linked to playstyles in a way that is designed simply to negate them while making the game harder and more tedious for no good reason that it boggles your mind. To me, it always struck me as "Hey, we have your money so we really don't give a rat's backside if you play or not. Go do something else." The little that I play it, I play it with mods to undo a lot of those things and even then I play it very little any more.

Mine were more quality of life ones (as you mentioned) or things that made the game a little more tolerable from a "all by myself" kind of standpoint. My favorites were: 1. Ztensity's Unnecessarily Beautiful But Immersive (UBBI) - this one is most enjoyable, to me, especially the working shower, which is always good after a long day of killing zombies! 2. Different ones that returned empty jars after you used a drink (there are a bunch of them) - it was simply too immersion breaking to have jars just POOF into the ether after you drank something. It was also, IMO, one of the most egregious examples of The Un-Fun Pimps simply screwing over their player base for no good reason. (Note that I did not choose the ones that also allowed you to MAKE them, only the ones that restored the jars after a drink was consumed.) 3. Telric's Sleeping Mod: Easily my favorite, as it allows you to actually "sleep" through the night. Since The Un-Fun Pimps removed the ability to craft and improve skills way back when, a lot of people spend nights just sitting around not making noise. This fixes it so you actually "sleep" and can pass the night more quickly. 4. Pickup Plants: Restores the ability to harvest a plant by pressing "E" but you still need to punch to get the extra harvest granted by perks. I liked it because it makes it easier to grab plants in bulk when traveling 5. Plaebad Lever Action .44: I own a Henry lever action. It uses .44; 'nuff said. 😄 6. Log Spikes: Like you, I enjoyed log spikes and missed them. This added them back in. Probably found on Nexus Mods, I also used mods at one time that made the zombies more "normal," i.e., removed the whole vomit projectile thing from vultures and cops, and may have even removed screamers.
