I lost my album collection to a basement flood in a new house we bought many years ago. 2 weeks after moving in, apparently we lost power in the middle of the night while it was raining. I woke up to a basement full of water. My wife and I lost everything, wedding pictures, etc. I had around 200 albums collected since I was a kid. All destroyed! I remember paying $3.99 for a new album. Today they are $20 plus!

I am having a huge sale in Virden Illinois at the KC Hall on January 24th. To bad you are not in my area. I sell at a fraction of the record shops. I buy collections pull what i want an then sell of the remainder to recoop my money to try and break even. Its my way to build my collection back without blowing my savings. lol

Hi Steve! Glad to see you are "expanding" your stereo system. I have that Bob Dylan vinyl! Hope you are enjoying the holiday season. 🎄

The early 2000s everyone was selling their records at yardsales. I was buying them for between 25 cents and a dollar.

Definitely the glory days. Everyone was dumping their vinyl after letting it sit unplayed for a decade during the CD boom. It seemed like it would last forever, until it didn’t.

Been collecting Lp`s & Cd`s for over 40 years now. Have 12.000 Lp`s from the 60` & 70`s all first pressings in analog, not reissues from today in digital. Forget that!!! Buy the Cd instead! Add around 8.000 Cd`s also. One must have the place to stock this all. Met many groups from the past, even Robert Plant. Long Live Rock!!!

The acrylic platter will be a nice upgrade. ...and should you go down the rabbit hole of upgrades, I'd recommend the Ortofon 2M Bronze & the Cambridge Audio Solo.
EDIT: I initially confused the name of the Cambridge Audio phono preamp w/ their Alva turntable.

I bought a record player a year ago. I miss my record collection and am trying to rebuild it. I sold my entire collection when I moved to California. I'm regretting selling my collection every day.

ive enjoyed watching your audio "journey" i to am into music / gear but i tend to have analysis paralysis with all the different gear and such. maybe in 6 months or so you could do a review of your system and talk about what you like / dont like / wold do different.....thanks for the journey
