      Ughh I can do a back walkover and I can’t do a back handspring unless it’s with my sister coach or by myself near my coaches

    I had a pretty bad mind block on my BHS for about 8 months and I just took a deep Breath and threw it and I got over my mind block and it was one of the best days that I ever had , and that same day I got my back tuck :)

    I have a mind block on my back handspring and tryouts for cheer teams are in May I can do it with very little spot but every time I try to do it by myself I just can't.

      Brayden Hill same I can't even do it with a spot I did it twice the first time I landed it but the second time I bent my arms and fell on my neck now I'm just to scared but luckily I still made my middle school cheer team. (I did it on a trampoline)

    This may sound crazy, but I had a mind block with stunting. I fell early in the season and been scared of stunting ever since. I don't tumble much, but thank you so much for this video. I made my JV high school cheer team and I'm ready to stunt again. Thank you Erin!🎀💛

      That happened to me at the beginning of my first season because my flyer elbowed me so hard there’s a permanent bump on my nose 😂 I got over it though, and I won’t sugar coat it, I’ve been hit a lot since, but it’s worth it.

    I have had my standing tuck three times before but I keep losing it because of my mind. And I honestly just am sick and tired of having this. It really just brings me down when I can't do something because then it makes me second guess all of my skills and I just need to stop doing that. I just really want to get over it! Thank you for this video and I really hope this helps me get over it!

    So I had my round off back handspring for a year now but now I'm scared to throw it! I will throw my standing but I won't connect my round off to my backhandspring!! Ugh it's so annoying.

      Try doing a round-off, swinging, and then doing your back handspring. My friend had hers, and her round off back handspring back tuck and one day she suddenly lost it. Pretty soon you'll be able to do it. Lost of luck!

    this is the most relatable video i’ve ever seen. the part where you want to cry from stress because tryouts are soon. i’ve done my roundoff back handspring back tuck multiple times. i watched fail videos, had 5 days without practice. and now i have a mental block. i really want to get over it.

    Drilling your basics is so true! I had a mind block on back handsprings and I kept doing round offs until I got them really high. High enough I could do round off tucks. I finally got my confidence back and no mental block! Back Handsprings are still rough (especially standing) but the confidence of a level 3 skill is nice.

    My mental block is with my standing tuck, cartwheel tuck and rdhs tuck and it was really hard and is still really hard to over. Sometimes my teammates get made at me for not throwing my skills but they don’t understand I mental can’t do it. A few moths at practice I did my cartwheel tuck, I didn’t land it and I fractured my toe. It made me even more terrified to tuck in any skill but in my back yard I was watching that video over and over again and I told myself I would do it, and I did and I was so proud of myself. I will always struggle with my mental blocks but I’m proud of myself for getting over my cartwheel tuck mental block. Tip 5 really helps!!!

    I’ve had a mental block for 3 weeks now, I’m trying everything I can do. It’s so hard. I hate mental blocks so much. I have amazing tumbling too. I just don’t understand why this is happening. Thank you for the video. I will definitely take the advice! 💞

    when i was a tumbler, i would get nervous doing standing tucks when i was younger. i created this saying in my head “go over and deal with it” . go over as in go backwards, go for the trick. deal with it, deal with whatever happens, you land it great. you just deal with it.

    I just wanted to share how I got over STANDING and RUNNING back handspring mind blocks. I was afraid of going straight from a round off to a back handspring, and before that I was afraid of standing back handsprings. I had a private lesson one time and my coach spotted me on a standing 2 back handspring and going straight into the 2nd back handspring was easy for me. It automatically clicked for me and the next tumbling class I was able to go straight from my round off back handspring. By then, my tumbling was plenty strong because of how long I had already worked on the skill. If you're not ready to do a standing 2 back handspring, try it on the tumble track with a spot. I was terrified of standing back handsprings, so I worked on my trampoline with a NET and a spot almost every day for a few months and then I would end up not using a spot after a few times. I even hit my nose on the side of a pit doing a tuck into the pit one time and I still got over the block. Good luck and be safe!

    In the begging of the season I had my layout but then I lost it cause I fell on my head when I was messing around. Now I'm on a level 1 team when I belong on a level 4 team. This helped me out because I'm string to get my skills back 1 by 1 thank you

    My tip is to do the skills with a coach standing there, and then have them step back a little bit at a time, so eventually you are doing your skills without seeing your coach at all.

    I had the worst mind block trying to do a twist down. It was horrible. I'm on a level 3 senior team and I had to sit out at times During our stunt sections. Now I can do it, and couldn't be happier with my place in the routine!

    Thanks so much for all these tips; I get mind blocks often about my jumps and such (I'm in dance, not cheer) as well as various tumbling, and they SUCK. But great, inspirational video.     I have a huge mindblock on my back handspring (I've had it for 2 years) because the first time I got it and I practiced it on my own at a tumbling class a couch told me to not do it because I would break my arms like a bother girl on my team did. The next year I had gotten it back and it was super solid, all of my couches supported me except on. When then watched me to one on dead mat and told me I would get seriously hurt because MY LEGS WERE BENT.

    i was in a mind block. i was throwing a round off double back handspring back layout and i fell and sprained my back which took cheer away from me for about a month and a half. i came back and streched and conditioned and did some light tumbling like back walkovers and cartwheels and front handsprings ect. i went to throw a round off back tuck and i couldn't. i was like oh I've just been away for awhile ill do a roundoff backhandspring. you know a easier skill i couldn't even do that. i was talking to my coach because she's basically my mom and she asked to see a bunch of skills and i couldn't do them. she told me that she knew what was going on and she told me and i started to cry. I didn't know what to do. i started working so hard to get out of my mind block. it took me 8 months 2 weeks and 4 days to get over my mind block. on May 12th i was no longer in a mind block. if you guys are going through something similar just keep trying because it will get better talk to someone and just never ever give up because you are capable of anything you set your mind to.     I personally never had a mind block (and I'm so grateful for that) but I know other people who had a mind block and I felt so bad for them because I felt like I couldn't help them because I never personally experienced a mind block

    I'm joining all star cheer sometime in march-april next year but I'm starting tumbling next month. I want to get my bhs and back tuck before I start cheer also. My best friend is senior noex 3 and their looking for a new flyer. Tbh I don't think I'm good enough for their team but it's worth a try, wish me luck. :)

    I currently have a mental block on my BHS and I have had it for like 3 years. Yeah. I still am not over it but something that have helped me the most is stopping looking away from the wall I stare at to throw my standing BHS and breath then throw it.

    Hey ,this is so inspirational and like your so true like I always cry because I have mental blocks and I stress because I can’t do things but because I don’t know what to do anymore it’s really stressing me out and I feel like my body is telling me I can’t do skills anymore and I also feel like I can’t do anything I Try to push through but I just stress this vid did Help me tho x

    Okay, so i have a horrible mind block on my roundoff backhandspring. I dont know why. Ive done everything you said, and everything other videos have said an i still cant connect! Why? All i think about is how i cant connect and it affects cheer really bad! Do you know why at all? 😕

      I would recommend practicing doing a roundoff into the sitting position of the bhs because I had the same problem as you. just roundoff into the sitting position and do a bhs as you would normally

    This is my 8th month with my mind block and it started because it was my first time flying and when i was done you know all those butterflies and everything and i decided to warm up and broke both bones in my left arm. Im almost over my mind block but b4 my accident, my mind block was only 3 months so if anyone else is getting over an injury to just know it does really take a LONG time but you will get there.

      This happened to me too, and i just started with the basics like thigh stands and then worked my way up... I also tried stunting with my coaches to get the hang of it.

    I have tryouts in two months and I'm very scared to do BHS series and running roundoff handspring tuck. My couches always say "just do it" and I'm like it's not that simple I just can't. But I know it's just in my head and I can do it! I WILL GET OVER IT!!!!!

    I am on a level two team and I have a comp coming up very soon, and I am extremely scared. I suck at stunting and mess up a lot, and whenever I screw up my group looks ant me and makes me feel bad. I feel like at the comp I am going to mess up and fail my team. My coaches do not have too high expectations for me because I am a very new cheerleader, (I have only cheered for a few months) but I am very hard on myself and afraid to fail the team. Advice?

    this sounds so beginner but i have a cartwheel and now i just cant do it. i got for and stop as soon as my hands hit the ground and i don't know how to fix it because i can do it i have done it alot in the past and as soon as i got them perfect i lost it and the sad part is i know how to do it but my ind wont let mee....

    I know one time I had a mind block with my cartwheel after pulling both of my muscles in my arm but I could still do a back-handspring with 10 year old spotters. I was 10 at the time.So it was very confusing.

    In January I will have had a mind block for 2 years and I can do my handspring, tuck, whip, layout, and half on the trampoline, but I can't do any of it on the floor. And I know it's because I over think it but when I dont, I still can't do it. It's the same way with my running handspring. And if I don't get these by January I won't be able to cheer. Ugh I'm so stressed and that only makes it worse. And when I take privates everybody tells me the same exact things. To stop thinking about it and just do it. But I can't. I've done it by myself but still sike myself out. I recorded myself on the grass doing it by myself, but I still can't convince my body. Honestly, at this point it doesn't even feel worth it anymore. I'm not even scared of anything that I know of, my mind just won't let me do it.

    Hello! I’m on a high school JV team this year and I am TERRIFIED of stunting. I’m a backspot, and I used to be able to do and lib extension, and then one day a girl told me we were doing an extension bump down, but instead cradled while I was still holding onto her ankles. She has done this multiple times, and has knocked the wind out of me each time. Now, I can barely do a half bump down without feeling like I will pass out or break out in tears. I really really need help

    I fell on my shoulder doing a backhandspring on a mat that flipped you over and now I can't do any backward skills at all bc I'm so scarred. It made me not make any team this yr(really small gym and only level is senior 3). Any tips for next year?

    I had gorgeous baranis/ side Ariel’s. I could do them none stop. At one of my OLD studios I had a dance duo at 10 pm and had performed all day. I landed funny and tore all the ligamentsin my foot. The nurses there told me to go straight to the hospital but I didn’t and completed the next day. This was in 2014 and I’ve had it a few times but I am still so scared. Any different tips ? X

    I have a mind block on my roundoff handspring full and standing full, i can do it perfectly fine with my coach standing a few feet away but i cant get past that ugh!

    I have a mental block on my round off back handspring tuck. im scared i will land on my neck. its like there is a brick wall that wont let me go. my coach nor parents are encouraging. not sure what to do. its so much stress its causing me not to like cheer no more

    I've started to get a mental block on my roundoff bhs and I'm pretty sure it's because I was working on my roundoffs a lot and now my rebound is SUUUPER high on the spring floor like its scary how high it is I rolled my ankle coming down one time cause I was so high up. Anyways, I'm afraid that I'm either going to not go backwards and do like a janky tuck but freak out midway and hurt myself, or fly backwards and not up enough and like only half of me gets over and I hurt myself. I need some help because I'm scared to even do a roundoff on the tumble track or the rod floor cuz I go up even higher. It also doesn't help that I'm super stressed because I just made a level 2 team for the first time and I really need these skills they need to be able to depend on me. Plz someone help what do I do. :(((
