    I couldn't disagree more about the dash comment. The TFT is absolutely fine for the bike. It's not a real retro, and it's not a Triumph. It's an extended MT 09, that is totally modern, with some strange bits (seat) tacked onto it. It is not anything like the Kawa 900RS, a totally different mentality. Get used to it. Great bike!

      Tons of data jammed into a screen that's hard to see under sunlight, much less with a layer of dust. I'm sure after 1 year ownership that screen will be scratched to death.
      10-15 years ago motorcycles had a nice analogue tachometer which was easy to discern in a split second, right beside a nice large LCD screen with a light background and nice bold information, also easy to see and read in any light.
      Displays outside of BMW, KTM, Triumph are going backwards in terms of legibility and aesthetics. This is not an improvement. This panel on the '21 MT and '22 XSR is 50% blank space for indicator lights and the rest is hard to read. I bet the electronics engineers at Yamaha don't even ride motorcycles, probably a bunch of vaping millineals obsessed with their smart phones.

      I think they can be fun to use if they’re smooth on the downshift, as well as the up shift. But I wouldn’t pay over the odds as an extra; I like to change with the clutch lever. My mind’s eye is telling me a knackered gearbox will ensue the a jerky downshifter.

  • @lawrencehamilton6105
    @lawrencehamilton6105 Před 2 lety +4

    I had a 2016 in brushed silver. Overall I think that was more in line with the idea of a modern retro - consistent styling elements and cohesive with the circle elements in the trim, rear light, headlamp and instrument cluster. This update has abandoned that I feel. Shame. The original XSR was a wonderful machine to ride and look at (in my view). The power, tech and handling upgrades applied to the existing styling would have been enough maybe.

    • @raynellmoore68w

    • @disaffectedmale
      @disaffectedmale Před 2 lety +1

      Have to say, the original XSR was the MT09 Sport Tracker. That special edition was in my opinion, a market test for the XSR. Just about to trade my 2016 Sport Tracker in against a tech black 2022 MT10, I'm tired of a jet engined Pogo Stick trying to kill me every time I go for a ride, mine has ABS and that's it, it's a pretty raw bike but that was why I bought it. I had a boring Kawasaki 650 twin before that and this felt like a party on two wheels in comparison. The base model suspension though... It's sh1t over 80mph!

    • @josevi5835
      @josevi5835 Před rokem
