  • A lot of students struggle to choose the "right" engineering major because of many factors. Common ones include the following:
    1. You have yet to discover what you like and dislike.
    2. There are so many disciplines that overlap and are difficult to understand without the necessary resources and guidance.
    3. Your interests lie in a plethora of areas.
    4. You are worried about things like job security, salary, etc.
The goal is to help anyone who is having trouble deciding between two very attractive majors - BIOMEDICAL and CHEMICAL ENGINEERING - and who wants to learn more about these two disciplines.

your methodology of determining "prestige" is pathetic. in my opinion all of the engineering fields are adding value to the world and they are all prestigious.

Appreciate the feedback. I agree that every engineer has a lot to offer regardless of where he or she works, and I think it goes without saying that engineering adds value to the world. The way I've defined prestige is simply a way to objectively differentiate between engineering disciplines and help those who wish to work at one of the Fortune 500 companies. By no means am I discrediting any particular discipline or the value that engineering brings.
