  • Welcome to The Shoe In With Cody! In this video, I cover the tech specs of the New Balance SuperComp Trainer v3 and share my first impressions after running 19 miles in them. I really did not love the SC Trainer 2, as it did not agree with my feet, so I’m eager to see how the v3 performs.

V1 are my all time favorite. V2 were alright, felt they were more like nimbus 25's, (which are still a great shoe).
Like the look of the V3's, but not sure if i'll bite the bullet.

They are definitely a solid long run shoes and tempo day shoe in my opinion. I really did not enjoy the v2 and do not love going at slower paces in this shoe.

I get shin splints like .5 miles in and these feel pretty good

I know this is a dumb question, but how did they feel when you were walking in them?
    Thanks for the video!

I have a love/hate relationship with this shoe. Like the first mile I always hate the way I am feeling. But as the run continues, I feel better to the point where at mile 4, I finally feel the strike to it. Where as the Rebel V4 feels the same way don’t matter the miles. So if it’s intentions are to work on the long run: 10/10. But for easy runs and shorter distances, the Rebel are better IMO.

I have the exact same feeling, first mile/warmup is usually awful, but after picking up the tempo it’s actually both comfortable and responsive. Love/hate 100%

Nice! Yea there are things I like about this shoe and a couple glaring things that are a concern. I think the Rebel and this make a nice 1 2 punch in a rotation

How are your shins holding up with running in this? I had the same issue with some other plated shoes unfortunately…

@@samkovalchik5655 better than ever. In the past I have used Reebok energy X for my races and my shins were dead and needed 4 days to recover. Now that I have these 2 in my rotation:
      Recovery/Tempo days: Rebel v4
      Long runs: Trainer.
It’s been 2 weeks and I feel better as the weeks pass by.

@@The_Shoe_In_With_Cody yes!! I love these 2 for my rotation. Now I need to find a good pair for race day.

It is a more narrow shoe for narrow feet like me

How do they do on gravel?

They performed really well. I do a lot of my long runs on a rail trail in my area and no issues at all. I also don’t have the greatest ankles and happy to report the stack height was not an issue on any of the terrain I ran on. Hope that helps.
