  • This is a LibreOffice Calc tutorial. A doughnut chart is a type of circular chart that shows the relative proportions of different categories of data. In LibreOffice Calc, you can create a doughnut chart using a validation list and VLOOKUP function. Here are the steps to follow:
    1. Create a table with two columns: one for the categories and one for the values. For example, you can have a table with four categories: A, B, C and D, and their corresponding values: 10, 20, 30 and 40.
    2. Select the table and go to Insert Chart. Choose Doughnut as the chart type and click Next.
    3. In the Data Range tab, make sure the Data series in columns option is selected and the First row as label option is checked. Click Next.
    4. In the Data Series tab, you can adjust the settings for each data series, such as name, colour, gap width and offset. Click Next.
    5. In the Chart Elements tab, you can add or edit the title, subtitle, legend and labels of the chart. Click Finish to create the chart.
    6. To add a validation list, select a cell where you want to display the list. Go to Data Validity. In the Criteria tab, choose List as the type and enter the categories separated by commas in the Source box. For example, you can enter A,B,C,D. Click OK.
    7. To add a VLOOKUP function, select a cell where you want to display the value of the selected category from the validation list. Enter the formula VLOOKUP (A1,B1:C4,2 ) where A1 is the cell with the validation list, B1:C4 is the table with the categories and values, and 2 is the column index of the values. Press Enter.
    8. Now you can use the validation list to select a category and see its value in the cell with the VLOOKUP function. You can also link this value to the chart title by selecting the title and entering A2 in the formula bar, where A2 is the cell with the VLOOKUP function.
