  • Step by step tutorial of how to disassemble, clean, and rebuild a 2002-2007 Honda CR250 Exhaust Valve / Power Valve / RC Valve. It's a great idea to do this every time you do the top end, or sooner to ensure proper function and power delivery of your bike!

    Greg, another Greg here. I am doing a top end rebuild on an 04 (it's first top end) and the pv shaft is stuck in the cylinder. This helped immensely and I will be using this video to remove, clean, and reinstall the valve! Thanks!

      YES! This is so awesome to hear Greg. Great to meet you. I had the SAME issue with mine and needed to share the advice for others like yourself out there. Let me know if you have any questions on the rebuild. Thanks for the feedback!

    using a medium small flat blade screw driver (i use my finger nail) thru the exhaust port(see @ 9:35), gently separate the two power valve halves where the shaft goes thru . then you can pull the actuator shaft out with relative ease. its kinda of like the Chinese finger cuff trap. use the same technique when reinstalling the shaft . it took me a few times to develop the technique

      Thanks for leaving that technique! That part can be such a pain. Much appreciated dude 🙌🏼💨

    I used easy off oven cleaner, and it worked well. You still need a small knife or a pic works to remove all the carbon. I used my fingers to get the height correct. Some methods let the valve open to much.

    he if you wane clean the carbon easy and good like new with out to much trouble try to soak them in some mister muscle oven cleaner the foam one be careful use eye protection !!! its a must if its not aluminium you can soak them pretty good in it watch out for alu parts tho cause the oven cleaner can eat into it so don't soak those to long it works like a charm for me always when doing my agr valve on my diesel car or my 2 stroke 100cc scooter exhaust rinse it with water or shrub it a little and falls of like mud

    Have you tried Berryman chem dip for removing the carbon? Their carb and throttle body cleaner is great too

      I've actually never heard of it! I will have to look into it for sure, anything to help break down that hard carbon is a win!

    03 you can’t go through the exhaust port. I went through the cylinder side

      I thought the 03-04 were the same and I was able to get mine through the exhaust port, weird!!

    • @bradleycorson5737
      @bradleycorson5737 Před 2 lety +1

      @@GregHitchko I’ve never been able to do it that way. I find it weird as well. Through the cylinder they practically fall in. I think it’s because mine don’t have the 2 cut outs on the flaps. O3 is just solid. I’ve noticed a lot of small differences over the years. Like fork guards are different hardware is different. Exhaust port is different on some and also reed set up.

    Hey Greg looking to see if it’s possible to remove and replace the seal without having to disassemble the whole valve assembly any insight is greatly appreciated TIA

    • @GregHitchko
      @GregHitchko  Před 2 lety +1

      Hmmm you might be able to. If you can get a small pick to grab it out, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to replace it without removing the whole shaft!

  • @jasontaylor5188

    Do I need the head removed on my 02 to get these out? or can i get them through the exhaust port?

    • @GregHitchko
      @GregHitchko  Před 2 lety

      You should be able to get them through the exhaust port if you rotate them out! It is easier to get them out through the cylinder, but I put them in through the exhaust port which means they should be able to come out through that way as well.
